Looks like Thawk has a third leg under some guys’s palm.No Homo.
No more charging; QCF moves, GO!
This is probably old news but I just realized that Skulldiver can be completely avoided if a shoto does crouch mk at the right time. It is hard for me to test by myself but is the timing strict enough for the shoto that if Bison knows that’s what the shoto is going to do he can crossover at the frame and throw?
If not I hope this is fixed in the next version. Would be nice if the whole skulldiver mixup was put more in Bison’s favor, it would make him much more exciting and make regular headstomp worth the risk and give a decent reason to cancel links into HS.
Yes all shotos can do low forward to avoid not only skull diver, but the follow up to devils reverse.
What you’re failing to realize here is that SD/DR doesn’t need to be changed…the shotos low forward does, at least allowing us to get a hit. Same thing with the lariat hitbox.
EDIT: Word on the street is Bison sucks ass in SSFIV…DS, and Sanchez you guys better hit up the liquor store…it’s gonna be a looooooooooooon 2010.
^^^ Are you serious? They did make any changes/nerfs buffs?
I am cursed. Anytime I pick a class in a fps or a character in a fighting game they always get nerfed =/. What, are they making lk scissor unsafe on block ? Wouldn’t surprise me =/
You guys sound like y’all losing a lot of games with Bison. It probably means you should pick a different character and move on.
Man, I just realized last night that my best character is Bison, but he’s the least fun to play. Maybe it’s because I play him so much… Here’s hoping that SSF4 will give him some new tricks.
Let’s just hope in silence we get closed beta PC back and a good second Ultra.
amen to that.
the 3 most important issues i think are
-
faster PC (maybe beta)
-
better ultra links
-
more block stun and hit stun on jump in’s and crossups even if it isn’t landed deep.
those 3 I think are more or less game breaking changes.
I think most of us have a fine time with Bison. It’s just kind of BS when the shoto’s crouching forward dodges devil’s reverse!!!
So I’m really excited about SSFIV not so that I can get a win button with Bison which just won’t happen, but so that hopefully they actually tweak the game to fix ‘balance’ issues like this. There is also the possibility that Bison might get new tools which will just add to our arsenal. Our second ultra, psycho punisher or whatever, will also hopefully have a good setup as well.
In the Gamespot article about SSF4 they’ve said that there will be comprehensive tweaks for all the characters. I’m excited!
I’d really like a fix on Bisons jump. More gravity. Something like Ryu’s jump.
Make it harder to punish PC; maybe put more frame advantage so that DP doesn’t automitcally punish it on block and i’ll be happy.
After playing this game for so long, I officially HATE Nightmare Booster - The only compensation for using it is hearing Bison’s delicious voice.
I want the CvS2/Alpha3 Mega Psycho Crusher for an Ultra; high damage, anti-air, comes out really fast and is relatively safer than his current ultra. Ability to combo into it not necessary if truly works like a punisher ultra. Keep the Knee Press Nightmare for his super.
I don’t want to give Bison more defensive options (this is not his character design), I want him to be an offensive nightmare - Utterly deceptive high risk, high reward character.
I’m actually think this is a good thing at this point in the balancing process.
The worst thing to happen to a character is that someone discovers an abusable tactic late in the testing stages. The developers then have no choice but to nerf the move or character into the ground just to be conservative. This is what happened to Psycho Crusher, and Vega as a whole.
Bison will obviously need to be retweaked even if only as a response to other character’s changes. The best suggestions are likely to be things that make Bison (or any character) more fun and/or give him more options, which leads to powerful tactics discovered after the game has already come out, ala Viper.
Asking for straight up buffs, IMO, will lead to a character getting nerfed overall.
i love him how he is. As much as I would love them to fix things (and from the sound of it, they will, albeit at the cost of others getting fixes as well), it is a GUARANTEE he will be getting a new Ultra.
Whether it be psycho shot, or shin PC, or some sorta AA ultra, I can NOT wait to see how that effects his playstyle at least.
Here’s to faster cHP juggles lol drinks his beer
this is actually the one thing about bison that bothers me the most, his jump is really, really long in terms of duration. I’d even be willing to sacrifice horizontal distance for a lower jump, say about -0.3 to -0.5 grid for a 5 frame deduction or so.
but then issue emerges where bison can’t do anything about chars that jump higher than him, as none of his directional aerials hit in the upwards direction.
^ Yeah it’s kindof a catch 22. It’s hard to scare anyone doing fireball traps on you without meter because even if you call them and jump a fireball, it’s really hard to plug them in the face given the floaty jump and lack of horizontal range on his air normals.
If you did change his jump arc, however, his air to air game would suffer alot. I’ve lost count of the number of times I jump higher than my opponent and catch them with jump fierce and there’s nothing they can do.
Maybe they could give his horizontal jump roundhouse a bit more range?
Horizontal jump roundhouse is amazing. If you learn its max range you will catch people off guard a LOT. Also if you hit it at the very last second its easy to catch people who go to crouch block too early.
It has nowhere near the range it did in older games though. I do use it to good effect, but I wouldn’t call it amazing. It’s no shoto jump roundhouse that’s for sure.
One minor thing. I wish the distance dic throws his opponent at midscreen (and dic’s corresponding recovery) were changed such that you’d get easymode safejump and/or crossup by holding UF as soon as the move ended… (as it stands right now, is immediate dash forward and jump after a throw a safe setup? it really doesn’t feel like it is)
it just feels like everyone else gets good options / vortex off of untechable knockdowns, so why shouldn’t a char like bison who is traditionally balls-out offense get something like that
oh and put him in airborne state during scissors like in st so i dont eat full jumpin combos, that shit is wack
