Disregarding a 122 flat serve and a 122 spin serve, I will still say that returning a 122 serve for a winner or set up shot would still be easier for the men.
Men’s tour have to deal with 125-140 consistently. Williams’ only have to worry about that if and when they play each other and even then it’s not like they’re hitting return aces or other quality returns.
Best way to put top 2 women’s beating top 25 men’s tennis is by trying saying that the top WNBA team (whatever it is) can beat the bottom 5 NBA teams. Given the difference in physical talents, I’ll be damned if the WNBA team doesn’t get blown out by a 70pt margin in a 48 minute game.
1 year ago I literally loled every time nadal served. It was funny as hell watching a guy who can hit the ball so hard to have such a weak serve. Technique i guess, Federer doesnt even sweat yet he serves really good because of technique. I guess Nadals serve now is decent but its still far from being good.
i feel nba vs wnba doesnt compare to tennis comparisons.
but i def would like to see an exhibition battle.
biolink: fuck that…james blake is my great hope against echizen and the swiss miss. when james blake doesnt worry about the game he goes buck wild…some of the most exciting matches for me came from blake…but he has a serious mindblock similar to roddick.
Actually WNBA to NBA is probably the best analogy here, shame I didn’t think of it.
Seriously man, the women’s game is nowhere near the level of the men’s game. The levels of athleticism and technique are not even close. It’s like MVC2 tiers or something. No offense towards women, but biomechanics are against them.
I’m going to pull a Richard Williams and an Earl Woods and get all of my Sons/Daughters involved with Tennis and Golf. They’ll be born with UNR, and we finally will have some decent motherfucking Men on the Tennis side.
i heard macenroe is in charge of advance development of american tennis men or sumtin to that effect. basically their trying to bust out top men tennis players as soon as possible, lol apparently they havent realized tennis is just like soccer in america. lol they seriously went we dont know why its like this.
i woulda been into tennis had i caught prince of tennis alot earlier in life. lol im not gonna lie that anime got me into tennis.
To me this is a good comparison even though its a team sport. No way a 100 top male player would lose to a top 3 female player in tennis. Its a totally different game. I can see my man Luis Horna (08 Roland Garros doubles champ and fellow peruvian tennist, google him) beat Serena or Venus like it was qualy brackets.
NINJA EDIT: And I too think US hope is Blake, not Nadal. He just needs a better coach imo (mental issues). When Blake is confident about his game he plays hella good: Blake-Hewitt UsOpen (dont remember if it was 05 or 06), Blake-Agassi AusOpen 05 (epic! Blake shoulda won this), hell even Blake-Agassi from Washington semis 02 (where Blake won his first singles title)
honestly if i knew where to go to play around here and learn…i would. but i have noo fucking clue where to go…my school doesnt have a tennis team…lol @ the fact my community college had a tennis team but my liberal arts school doesnt.
Just get lessons, any public court probably has instructors giving lessons regularly. Getting a group lesson is probably the best way, just realize that alot of the motions aren’t at all intuitive. Just remember to have proper rotation on the whole body and use your legs. At the lower levels most of the motions resemble punches and whatnot, instead of the whipping stuff they use in pro tennis. Don’t try Nadal-style motions starting out unless you want to be a scrub forever
Lmao at the CC having a Tennis Team, but the specialty college not.
I’m going to a big university so there should be a Tennis team there, but most of them will be scholarship players and crap. They wouldn’t have time for me
Yeah, this is what I’ll see if I can do in College. They usually have inter mural sports and stuff, so who knows
unless you’re out in the desert or a large congested city there’s usually some old guys who teach tennis for cheap somewhere around there. And if you live in the suburbs the courts should be free too
just don’t fall into the “I’ll learn tennis by playing alot of matches!” thing, because drills help infinitely more on the basic stuff. Tennis is a really frustrating game mentally (which is why it’s a feat for players like Federer and Agassi to shank a shot completely and still move on to the next point totally unfazed), and match experience helps with the mindgames but not your form.
if ur short for tennis…im a damn midget i’m 5’8. ive honestly never thought about height playing a big factor in tennis. i mean it obviously does but i never thought about that fact til u said it.
I think it would probably give you a better serve, and a reach advantange, but if you got the skills you could be alright I guess. Micheal Cheng was only 5’9(Which is still an inch taller than you) and he won the French Open.
I hate that I was fucking born in an Urban Environment(AKA "The Hood)
We don’t have shit out here to do, besides Basketball, and Football. My school got Lacrosse this year which was fun.
BTW Scrotal where do I look on that website for nearby places that have Tennis teachers or whatever?
