Men’s game is entirely different.
They are better conditoned(Have to be when faced with the possibility of playing 5 long ass sets), and they hit harder pound for pound than the Williams sisters.

I mean, the williams can hit hard, but they get much better looks at the ball than players on the men’s side. Their footwork is atrocious, tbh, and they are dominant because they basically just blast other women off the court. How well they play against women is kind of deceiving, because if you watch a women’s match and a men’s match back to back it’s obvious that the speed of the men’s game is faster. Sure Venus can serve 124, but even a 145 serve is not guaranteed to win any given point in the men’s game.
Sharapova gave them trouble by hitting just as hard and Henin was competitive with her athleticism and court coverage. Looking at the ATP men’s rankings (they fluctuate alot because honestly it doesn’t take too many points to make the top 10 since the top 3 are so dominant), I don’t see anyone that would very likely lose to either of the Williams sisters. I only see Moya, who might die of old age on the court and forfeit.

She clearly didnt have a strong forehand or backhand, it was just pure finesse and technique. I remember her matches lasted on average 45-50 mins. Pure ownage.
McEnroe consistently says that even today he could wipe the floor with the Williams’ sisters. I believe two years ago he even gave an open invite to them if they wanted to test it out.
Really though…top 25 men vs. top 10 females is still no contest in favour of the men. I’m not interested in crunching stats but if you look at service speed and winner speeds you should see it statistically favours the men. What’s the significance? Faster ball = less likely to be picked up by the slower, women’s game. Inability to pick up balls = loooose

well if we wanna talk service speed both serena clocks around the same as nadal 122 and venus clocks higher than nadal 127
The serve is by far Nadal’s biggest weakness, though, and also since he is left handed the natural spin on the ball curves away from the opponent (this is why Echizen serves left-handed sometimes), so he doesn’t need to have the consistent power serve. The men are leagues better at the service return too (Federer consistently won points on Roddick’s first serve)
I mean, some of the weaker servers in the women’s game serve under 90 on their first serves, but girls like Dementieva can still dominate while in the men’s game it would be impossible unless you ran like Michael Chang. Once again the williams sisters have some of the worst footwork I’ve seen in professional tennis, just watch how long it takes them to run down a short ball and how fast the male players can do it.
well i guess u can always say…if u been winning with bad footwork and u have been blazing why change. but if they were to go against the men i figure that would be a big point for them to work on. i mean have either sister dropped a set all wimbledon til the semis?
