The nth Chicago thread: We Know Drama

EVO lineup announced! GGAC back at EVO! This time singles! And this time its in late July… so this time ill be going to EVO again, except ill be going there on my way to visit Chicago rather than going there on my way back to Japan! GET HYPE!

yo slevin the wii works great and i got everything up and running too

haha keep typing my name in this thread, i love it

Well if you actually read the threads besides just spamming, you would have probably caught the post a couple months back.

You seem to not give a fuck about anyone in this thread anyway, so what’s the point?
The information came from an extremely reliable source when it comes to ST/SF in general. A source with more credibility then anyone at screenz currently has.

It’s great if you guys can make it out there to participate and build a scene. For me, I’m not 20 years old anymore. I have a full time job now and a family. If I don’t feel like wasting my 48 hours of free time I get on a weekend to spend on a whim, I don’t have to. Deal.

Also, just saw this:

Andy, take note. This is something you need to put in like gold bolded type at the beginning of every chicago thread from now on. This is why a chicago scene still exists today. As stupid as it sounds, you new peeps really need to absorb this. I never played fighters to make friends. I played them to compete with people. The people I became friends with were literally my best competition because we would beat the shit out of eachother on a constant, weekly basis. A bit cheesy, Ari  but I think it really gets the point across.

Rainbow bunnies gtfo

CvS2 is officially dead!

“If you don’t get place number one, you might as well get place number none”

FT100 for a 100 G’s!

You da champ! /faketalk. BOOM! ROASTED!

All bullshit aside, this kid is serious business.

i completely forgot i won the gg tournament at screenz. does that make me a chicago champ too? because really, the win was that epic and memorable.

i also won the 4 man 3rd strike tournament, so OMG 2x CHICAGO CHAMPION!!! i own clark street. none of the random people walking around there can beat me in 3s or GG. all while parrying fireballs with my face, because seriously, i don’t know any other way.

i second dennis on the “tooting your own horn”. i would much rather the straightforward honesty than to hear false modesty. my victories are in perspective as well.

I played DevilJin in HDR, am I peoples?

Also, for some reason, when Ari was explaining the fighting scene shitting rainbow bunnies, I remembered an article I read (and had) from way, WAY back in the day (2000-ish?) about some MvC2 tourney in Cali, and Ari’s name was in the standings (3rd?). Proof he’s OG?

Kennywood, how is CvS2 “officially” dead?

Lol, I thought GLB was already a member…whoops.

So…how bout dem Steelers?

my e penis is huge.

It’s been finally dropped from Evo and now MANY people will probably stop playing it completely!

YAY!:lovin:

We knew CvS2 wasn’t gonna make it to EVO this year long before they announced the lineup, doesn’t mean it’s dead. I still fucking love playing it.

CvS2

I stopped playing CvS2 seriously when the Cracka, Tony, and Scum came to Friar Tuck’s for basically the first CvS2 tournament in Chicago. Had Jim in the first round and his scrubby Rock:rofl: ate my Kim  which I thought was really good…

I know this is late, but GGs to all at Neil’s place in BB.

Stompin’ on hoes in TvC was great too

Now just toss BB, S!AH2 and T6BR in there and we’re up to speed.

Too bad the U.S. has dat console barrier. :shake:

You act like it was just a random people who happened to be in the area stopped in to play. A number of people who actively post in this thread were there. So you aren’t just taking away from me, you are taking away from them as well. :wonder: Also if Shin Ukyo say he can beat me, I’m always up for a ft10 challenge on PSN if you want to re-add me to your list. I had to purge my friends list because the maximum number of people you can have on PSN is 100.

bish plz, you got owned by eagle

that tourney was hilarious, I remember jack and the now famous s-kill () made it out there as well. Managed to crackatactic seth for 3rd place, even though he said he had only played the game a few times with jack.

Man, jack was a really good player…wonder what happened to him.

jack moved to so cal

fob motherland aka so cal.

Me/jack/s-kill/drew… - team og uiuc

I miss jackdafob master. Does he still go on IRC?

ya he does…marc do you remember that other jack that always used to drive me around before i had my licence? and his other friend that ended up randomly dispising me?

you can’t take away anything if it wasnt there to begin with.

you think i am taking away credibility for a tournament because i am implying on the caliber of play at screenz? so i only played guilty gear, 3rd strike, and some random STHDR at screenz, so i cant really judge how well people play in anything other than what i play.

though in general with the screenz scene, i m not going to pretend that the general population is awesomely skilled at the games they play. pretty much, a lot of people need to work on very standard basics and try not to auto-pilot when they are playing. the caliber of play in comparison to the rest of this country really is not that high. so pumping it up and disillusioning people to believe that it is does not help.

for example, if punching gunflame for the 20th time gets you killed, you may want to try blocking it. if makoto does s.MP with her SA1 super meter full, it is not a good idea to try to hit or throw me right then. foremost, if your strategy got you killed the first 99 times, u may want to switch it up on the 100th time.

i am trying to be realistic on what i see, personally i think screenz has a dedicated group of players, and the direction it is evolving as a venue i think looks promising. though people do have to pitch in in order to see it advance. the consensus of players there are very new to playing competitively it seems and really have to break out of their comfort zone of how to play in order to improve a lot more.

to illustrate my point: most people can solve at least 1 side of a rubik cube, which is great and all, but there is pretty much no way of solving the whole cube from that point without destroying everything you accomplished in solving that one side. a lot of the players are comfortable with the way they play, so they stay on one level, and they don’t break down what they know in order to get passed that.

i am the best basketball player in my family, but that does not mean i can go for the NBA now, or try to compare my level with the NBA. am i TAKING AWAY from my basketball credibility? i wouldnt say so. i also dont think anyone else would.

reiterating, cuz i m sure someone is going to misread my post and get all angry: ** i whole heartedly support screenz and want to see the competitive scene there level up and perpetuate the competition in chicago, but to be honest, it is not quite there yet. i do think it is on the right track and on its way though.**
