I found playing a lot of ST on GGPO and HDR online helped me with some aspects of my game in GG. Footsies, meaties, and safe jumps, in particular. Individual results may vary, but I agree with Ari.
The fact that you “quit fighting games” and then decided to come back made me lose A LOT of respect for you as a gamer in the Chicago scene. You’ve probably improved a lot since then and I’m glad that you stuck with it but it’s hard for me to take you serious when you pull shit like that.

HDR and ST have taught me all the current basics I have. Without it, I’d pretty much still be suckin’ ass in all fighting games.
So then the game is for scrubs , cause they need to learn their basics. Is that not the definition of a scrub?

no Nives I am not trying to brag, just trying to put things in perspective. Also I am not trying to brag with my old sig, so seriously if I offended someone by it, then I’m sorry. But the fact remains that I have won 2 tournaments in chicago so far. So I want to meet up with some of you guys to keep it from happening again. Also I am not taking anything away from everyone who came out to the last one. It was fun and despite what other people may think, I think most people who were there were pretty good.
I think Floe actually does have somewhat of a right attitude. Get the fires burning, otherwise chicago as a whole won’t be able to succeed in sf4. Take your cement pills and harden the fuck up.
Also, I understand people’s displeasure with the tournament location. But I think it will be a solid place to play after their remodel, they are really trying to attact the fighting game community to their location.

I just wanna throw gasoline to the fire and say that not only does Syxx think he’s hot shit in HDR (because of two local tournament wins), I believe he also implied that he’s beaten the best of the Midwest in ST (and I seem to remember NKI’s name being thrown in there when he tooted on his own horn). This was back when he was talking shit to ME, a scrubby ST player that beat him at least once or twice and refused to admit that he indeed lost to me.
Syxx likes Syxx, and Floe likes himself, in SF HDR. This one is the REAL money match right here, make it happen!

I agree that ST/HDR is a good way to learn basics (zoning, spacing, baiting, etc.).
And on a final note…I’m the most awesome in Chicago, bob_washington is only 2nd.
