The nth Chicago thread: We Know Drama

its a free country, and besides the last one was 23 people

also you have no clue who i’ve played

and i don’t know tony

you want to keep me from turning it into times 3 show up at the next one

i’ve beat everyone in this thread who has bothered to show up and play me so whatever

not worth the time to drive hella far…park downtown…walk 20 minutes from wherever i parked…go in and find out theres 10 people there…just to deflate your ego…sorry go to a real tourny

I think I’ll take the FF results as to whom the top Chicago HD players are, tyvm.
Wasn’t that a Chicago and multiple other state sponsored event?..yeah.

Syxx, to say you’re a “2x Chicago HD Remix Champ” is a bit of an over statement, don’t you think? You could possibly say “2x HDR Screenz Monthly Winner” or something along those lines but you make it sound like you have supreme rule over Chicago. Lets take it down a peg or 2, huh? :wtf:

And Jim said it best, You won 2 monthly’s and didn’t show up to what had potential to be a Chicago Major?! Can you explain that one to me? Otherwise, get thrown in the “Slevin Category”.

You’ve beat most of the people that have played you so far. That was my $.02…

In other news, GG’s to Neil for hosting us last night, and nice to officially meet you. BB is good times, so thanks a ton for having our little group. I think I’m gonna wind up learning Taokaka and Litchi (sp?) thanks to that little session. Jake, thanks for driving dude, much appreciated. Frankie, good shit. Andy, I wanna see those vids soon. Hell, you’ll prolly get them up faster then Frankie will get those vids that Daniel/Arturo keep asking for

Also, GG’s to cain[e] and co., and nice to meet you guys too.

I will own him.

Dan:

the comp at FF was 100000000 times better than these screens tournys.

Sorry to say, but from your vids…AKA’s cammy would beat yours.

ARI:

Imma own you in 4 lololol. Probably not.

HHHAHAHHHA

IM ChuiGIIIIIIN KAHLUA.

Shit dood wats up man and my crew play dat we should match up,

5 w’s and details

I don’t really care what you guys think. But if you want to play me then come to Indy or the next tournament in Chicago. I didn’t go to FF because I’m not a stick player. Oh and if someone here wants to play for money I will. Also if you saw the results from last weekend it was most of the people from Chicago who were at FF to play HDR minus Ari and Dfly. So talk all you want, it doesn’t really bother me. I’ll leave my sig the way it is, so someone come play me and beat me some time. I’ve actually been dieing to play someone who will utterly destroy me. But it hasn’t happened yet. The fact that you guys want to try to beat me actually makes me happy.

Also why do you keep saying there was 10 people. There was over 20 people at the last one. There were about 80-90 people registered for the event overall. And besides who cares, are you going to buy a brand new car with your street fighter tournament winnings? The last tourney just went to show I don’t really care about the money. I just want people to show up and play. I talked some trash online and a bunch of people came, and everyone wanted me to lose. That’s good. Lets get together some time and play, and I hope everyone shows up at the next tourney in Feb. Oh and if anyone wants to play online ever I’m always down to play.

Also Humbag you should know better than to judge people from their online play videos lol. But if you want to play online before Indy, get to a ps3 and we’ll throw down.

^99% of the games at FF were on console…I think your controller issue would have been solved there:confused:

I don’t play any of those other games and I don’t like the xbox controller, i had to play sc4 on it once and it was terrible, like cracka j was saying about having to play sf4 on the same pad would be horrendous.

If any of you guys want to play face to face just let me know, I’m going to be in chicago probably monday, but friday and saturday are reserved for sc4 regionals.

i got into my student council in the 8th grade. i was actually voted a Representative at the West Windsor-Plainsboro Middle School in New Jersey. unfortunately, that never qualified me to be State Representative of New Jersey. I actually tried to get benefits for being a government official, but it wouldn’t fly.

that was an analogy if anyone missed that.

FF was a interstate tournament. screenz tournaments are at best lincoln park local tournaments. so it doesn’t really look good that you are challenging a population outside of your field of influence. i could post up i am the prime minister of chicago, but i think that instead of officially taking the issue up with the state of illinois to prove me wrong, i will more likely get my ass kicked.

why does anyone have to challenge you for that title when, sorry to say, you technically dont deserve it at all? if you don’t care about money, why did you post a challenge saying that if anyone wanted to play for money you would? who talked about money in the first place?

i dont think i ever met floe, or you, syxx, but i would like to see the scene advance and be more competitive. floe won FF which is chicago hosted, and he is much more entitled to that claim. if you make claims like that. nobody will take you seriously or respect your word for it.

if you don’t care about respect for the scene, u are more than likely just going to be overlooked, and it would be unfortunate because the scene is only as solid as its players.

What I’m saying is how can you contrast yourself against the rest of an entire city (or state, rather) and say you’re the 2x Champ of Chicago when you haven’t really played the best this place has to offer? You’re statement is too general and can mislead people. Whether or not any of these players showed up to these Screenz tourneys does not entitle you to such a claim. You didn’t go to FF cause you’re not a stick player well, you should’ve read again because it was all console and you could’ve played on a DDR pad if you wanted to. Next Chicago Major is going to be MWC and I’m guessing you wont be there because you wont be able to play on your PS2/3 pad? Understand that not everyone is going to cater to your needs to play on whatever suits you best. And trust me, no one’s “trying to beat you” or even said anything close to that so don’t jump the gun. If you want to say you’re the best person at Screenz, by all means, you can say so all you like because no one has proven you wrong in that regard. If you want to remain the best to a few, good for you but you will remain a small fish in a big pond.

I dont doubt that your Cammy is good (which it is)

I was just very very impressed by AKA’s cammy.

Thats all I was kinda saying.

You shoulda came out, shingigohan had his PS3 set up with HDr going.

i m throwing this out there so …

if nobody has been to this site www.mnstreetfighter.com , it is worth checking out.

i was actually in minnesota for about a year so it was fun playing people there. they have small tournaments that they contribute into their ranking system. i thought it was kinda neat, too bad they dont do that everywhere.

the point system is reliant on people being active to keep their ranking, as well as results. i thought it might be fun, make the scene more competitive, and i hope that if people got knocked down, that they aren’t discouraged but more inspired to aim for something higher, or see how they are improving in comparison to the scene.

what does everyone else think? objections? support?

Nives, to answer your question reguarding the money thing, Floe mentioned that he would put money on him, dfly and shaaady, so that’s why it was brought up. I’ll play them all for 20 at the feb tourney if they decide to go, plus there should be enough people at that particular even to make it worth everyone’s while, since there will also be tournaments for TvC, SF4, and Calibur 4 as well. Also I stated in the thread that I didn’t really want to play on the xbox pad (it was an xbox tournament) and that’s fine. It wasn’t my only reason for not going. Like I said, I just don’t play any of those others games that were at FF. I play HD Remix a lot because of easy access to decent comp online.

Nives, you were at Gamma Bowl. I remember because you won the GG tournament there. Remeber that guy that won Alpha 2, Alpha 3, Super Turbo, and Tekken Tag? That was the guy I had to beat in winners final and grand finals at the first tournament I won.

Regarding MWC, it will probably be on PS3, as evo will be on PS3 (unless this for some reason changes and they are able to secure enough XBOX360s). Also, I have gone to MWC every year for the last 3 years, and I went to the last 2 Midwest Challenges. I actually go to about 2 tournaments a month for various fighting games, both here and in Wisconsin.

I don’t think I’m the best at HD Remix or any fighting game for that matter in Chicago, and I’m not claiming that either. I’ve won 2 local tournaments here, and got 2nd at another small one in Wisconsin. I’m not going to lie that I did change my signature on this site to try to rattle things up a little to get people to show up at the next event. Like I said before, I would love to play some good competition in HD Remix. I play some good people online, and I played a few good players at the tournament last weekend as well, but that’s about it. I spend a lot of time with the game and I want to play the best people.

Actually the next tournament is in Indianapolis, and I’m going. MWC is still a long ways away, and there will be plenty more events leading up to it. I have a money match with NKI, who I have already played by the way. I also have a few other money matches at that event. I’m in it to win it. So if you guys really want me to change my signature that badly, then I will. But at least wish me and Humbag, and whoever else is going down there luck when we’re going to try our best to represent Chicago.

If you feel that you guys need to debate this any further, you can get with me on AIM or send me a PM. I know having some to actually talk about is fun and all but this already took up 2 pages.

I really like the idea. This is actually the kind of system that Dark Kakashi is trying to set up right now with the tournaments he runs every month. He is also very open minded to running just about anything. He was just discouraged at the low turnout of his previous tournament. But perhaps if someone is willing to set something up at a place that is easier to get to I would definately be interested and I think other people would be as well.

We actually run weekly tournaments on PSN coordinated on this web site. Just fun events where you play a tournament out with no prize other than props. It would be great to see something like this going on offline and locally. So if anyone has any ideas on where these could be held, I would be all for it.

Well its still better than DSP’s sig a few years ago when he was the highest placed US player on PSX ST lol.

But if you don’t goto the tourny’s local or not, you don’t have much room to say their claim is wrong. You’d be like that one kid of TUF last season that wanted to get kicked off so he can talk shit about him would have won had he not have gotten kicked out. But that plan backfired and they kept him on so that he’d lose and couldn’t talk shit.

That said, syxx is at least learning the game fast and has placed well in all the tournaments that he has entered for HDR. He is probably far better than I am and I’ve been playing SF for the last 20 years. But thats me so that doesn’t say much lol. But getting on him because some top local comp didn’t go isn’t right either. Because even if Floe had gone then we can turn around and say that he only placed that high because NKI didn’t go, and then if NKI went we give him shit about J.Wong not showing (not saying NKI is worse than JWong but just naming another top player), then WC peeps not showing then japan. Where does it end? but I’m rambling so I’ll shut up now.

All I knows is that I’ma be Chicago SF4 champ when I beat all you fags at my place on the 20th. Then I’m gonna retire so none of you can ever be champ

I think Nives hit it right though. Giving yourself a title, without playing the competition you would have to, in order to obtain that title.

I used to host several tourneys at the IL institute of art before I graduated there. I’d clear out all the same people, every week. I don’t think I ever bragged or posted about it here, but the bottom line is when eric, tony, d and ari ( I think on maybe 1 or two occasions?) showed up, the competition was much stiffer and harder to compete with. I knew that, and I think you do too.

Screenz IS A BAD LOCATION for most of us outside the city. It involves city parking, city driving, city walking. I hate going to the city if the train will not take me from point A to point B. The comp there has been reported as at best mediocre by a long time vet of the chicago scene. He even left before a tournament due to how bad it was. Does all that combined ever make me want to take my time, money, and effort to travel out there? Nope.

I’m sorry man, but it’s not US who have anything to prove to YOU. You got that shit backwards.

It’s cool, I’m willing to do that. Set it up and I’ll come. I want to play everyone.
