The Nintendo Switch Thread v. Come post on Mega Shock!: I’m not updating this anymore

It’s so limited this guy is selling em on eBay for $52 shipped.

Just beat the Bomb King and got the chain chomp star after exploring the castle grounds a bit. Holy shit I feel like I’m tripping. I played this game when I was 16! That was 24 years ago. I’m feeling so much nostalgia right now.

You struggling at all with the controls?

I messed around with each mario game for a bit, but I’m going through galaxy first since I never played it. Damn it’s good so far.

Just gave it a little go and yeah the camera isn’t that bad. But it does make me wish that shit it was free roam camera and 16:9. The screen feels so cramped. I was also playing hand held mode so I’m sure that didn’t help.

Playing Super Mario 64 in Super Mario 3D All-Stars makes me feel like I’m 15 years old again. I screwed around outside Peach’s Castle for like 5 minutes before going inside. I didn’t originally plan on it, but I 100% completed the first two courses last night before going to bed.

I saw that launch trailer to Hades.

That sucker was BOUGHT with the quickness. Not sure when I’ll get around to it, but the 20% off helped me make the purchase. I think the sale is only for another 3 to 4 days.

SHMUP fans, Arcade Archives Earth Defense Force dropped yesterday on the eShop.

Read about all the hype behind Hades. Love the company so just bought it. Too bad I won’t have time to play it for a few days.

Amazon just refunded me $11 and some change due to price matching.

Guess I get to open my copy. :sunglasses:

I remember going to Blockbuster to play the demo before I got my own n64. Kids in line to play Mario64 and Waveracers. Good times

My parents friends had one they’d let me play when my parents would bring me over and both my best friends growing up had N64’s so I always got to play all the latest stuff.

Especially from one of the friends as his parents were very well off. He pretty much had every major N64 title you could think of. I had a PSOne. So when games came out for the others system we wanted to play we’d swap systems for a month or when we beat the game we were borrowing the system for. Whichever came first

The one thing that sticks out to me big time in Mario 64 is just how tiny each level is. They used to feel huge back in the day. And now after playing Odyssey and just more recent games, they are just so little lol.

The controls generally speaking have not aged that well. Camera is definitely problemattic at times just depending on what is blocking it from moving and stuff, and then trying to do precise jumps is tough. Trying to free the chomp chomp on first level is hard as hell just to land on top of the wooden post because of the camera and how precise you have to be.

And trying to grab the big bomb from behind, like 75% of the time i was behind him and pressed the button to grab it just punched. You have to be super precise. Reading signs and talking to people is the same thing.

It’s still cool as hell to be playing it again though.

I’ve always thought Odyssey to be super constricting. They disguise how small the worlds are with how constantly you’re rewarded for doing menial stuff.

I don’t feel it’s a bad thing. Just outside of a few levels my reaction to every Odyssey map was “oh…that’s it?”

I really want to grab this, but I am possibly gonna hold out for a physical version. I held out long enough for Katana Zero and Limited Run Games is doing a pre-order in November. I am certain it’ll be about a year at least. Currently have the physical release of Streets of Rage 4 on the Switch. I have a decent back log, so I don’t mind waiting.

This me and Curse of the Moon 2. I really want to buy it, but I don’t want to double dip on it again like I did the first one.
