Really? Every time I’ve mentioned the fact I’ve never played it people get visibly angry at me or ask me if I’m just fucking with them.
I know about certain parts of it like the story, the bullshit pachinko machine stages and the giant sand bird but I’ve never touched the game
My favorite 3D Mario is probably Galaxy cause it was just so awkward and weird in amazing ways. Whimsical is a good word for it. I enjoyed the gameplay immensely
My favorite 2D Mario is 6 Golden Coins. No contest. Only thing that comes close is Doki Doki Panic! I mean Super Mario USA I mean Super Mario Bros. 2.
With long standing franchises after a while I dislike the traditional or “safe”. I find those can be boring. It’s why I dislike most consoles Zeldas but love basically every hand held.
Same thing why I like 6GC and SMB2
They go off the beaten path, they’re weird, they’re more imaginative, and so on.
That doesn’t mean I think the more traditional games are “bad”. SMW and SMB3 are timeless. Definitive lightning in a bottle with gaming. No one will ever dispute that.
I just don’t really find them as engaging or memorable in the same ways I find the “step children” as it were.
I actually think 3 is ok. It’s board consistency is all over the place and some of the world’s are way too long.
SMW is my favorite Mario.
I like Mario 2 a lot. I think its a really cool and unique NES platformer, and the amount of playable characters who all handle uniquemy from eachother gives it loads of replayability.
SMB3 is probably my favorite Mario game. SMW a really close second. And I gotta throw Mario Maker 2 in the mix now too.
For 3D Marios I think I’m probably most partial to 64, and Odyssey.
Stu, Sunshine is great, I think you’re gonna love it. It’s a bit of a departure from the others, but it’s got so much charm. Definitely looking forward to revisiting that one.
Too bad they took out the backward hop glitch in SM64. From the looks of it and as sonic said in the VGG thread they re-polished the “Rumble Edition” of SM64 that was released only in Japan.
I’m super late but I woke up to that stealth SMB35th Direct. Glad the rumors were true.
Super Mario Bros. 35 looks hype AF and I do not understand why Nintey is giving us a time limit on how long we can play it. Better make it the best 6 months ever.

Super Mario 64 and Galaxy are some of my favorite games ever and I can finally play them on the Switch. I don’t hate Sunshine at all but it had always been the odd duck to me. Still glad it will be part of the collection. Sucks about Galaxy 2 not being included.
And I NEED those Mario pins like I need blood in my veins.
Looks like if you are a serious collector you would want to double dip, get Physical and digital and keep the Physical copy sealed and only play the Digital.
It was loved actually. The only problem is that when it dropped the market on normal Wii games wasn’t supported well by Nintendo themselves. Nintendo was pushing their more ‘blue ocean’ casual games and the market for those were eroding.
