The Nintendo DS thread v.2

goody:rock:.

I’m about six hours in; I’m finding it too easy and a little slow.

However, Im happy with it, so I’ll keep playing.

It’s not the best Suikoden, but it certainly isn’t the worst, either.

I’m also really looking forward to Shin Megami Tensai; it has both elemnts of many games I love. Also, there’s monster fusion and auctions.

Got TWEWY 2 days ago and so far the combat system is fucking awesome I love it (but not as much as ninja gaiden), the art is decent, but the writing, music, and story is just terrible it’s basically a fan service game to kingdom hearts cosplayers that happens to have a great combat system.

gta not selling well? even though most gta fans probably don’t own a ds and that ds game customers are largely parents of 5 year olds it’s still hella surprising to see a gta game not sell like crack.

I want to pickup bangi-o, layton, n kirby canvas curse but I still need to beat phantom hourglass n ninja gaiden lol.

Don’t get kirby squeek squad it sucks.

I have been having a lot of fun with ā€œThe Dark Spireā€. Nice old school flavor (if you like these type of games), good change of pace from the JRPGS that I have been playing a lot of lately. Glad I picked this one up =]

Valkyrie Profile was okay, but it wasn’t great. It felt really short to me. FFT:A2 was a better game.

Yeah, I hear you. I missed the political struggle/ large-scale battles of the main Suikoden series.

It is also a pretty easy game to go through. Recruiting characters is probably the hardest part though. Good job picking this up though

Also, does Devil Survivor play similar to the old SMT games (first person battle + recruiting monsters)?

Does the recruitment of characters begin after a certain point? I haven’t been given the usual and obvious ā€œWe need more peopleā€ diatribe, so I was curious.

Wait, you have it? GameStop said it was delayed until May 1.

they lied to you, i got mine from amazon today

I cant wait for Crime Scene…lol what other Crime Scene games are there??

You got me hyped there for a second  Anyways, the upcoming RPGs look really promising and DQIX sounds better and better every time I read updates about it. I’ve been playing Broken Sword lately since I never finished it when I was a kid and the port seems very well done (except for the audio restrictions) so far.

Once you get the typical home base (castle), you will be able to do quests/ recruit new members. You will get story-based recruits automatically though and most recruits need either the story-based characters or story-based events.

As far as I know though, they never outright tell you that you need more members until you meet the ā€œLeknaatā€ of this game (in previous Suikoden’s, the lady with the Tablet with the name of all the Stars of Destiny’s).

I know I’m knit-picking, but I always loved seeing who was going to be in future Suikoden installments that had appeared in previous titles. From what I hear, there are no returning characters in ST.

Also, I really miss the blacksmithing.

K-Groove bar is now FULL.

Oh shit! Its ON!!!

I just bought a Nintendo DS a month ago, and I’m really liking it. My friend let me borrow Castlevania:Portrait of Ruin and New Super Mario Bros. The Mario game got old, but Castlevania is awesome. Here are the games I bought so far:

Dragon Quest IV
Final Fantasy Tactics A-2
Final Fantasy III

I should be busy with these titles

Picked it up from the GS in Gulf Breeze, FL a few days ago. They had it on Monday I wanna say.

You do get a blacksmith in this game but you can’t upgrade your weapons… Only buy new weapons.

There are some characters I would have liked to see again as well (Killey, Clive, Viki [for teleporting], and even Kinnison + wolf), but I really missed runes…

Also, I just ran into the ā€œWorld’s Most Difficult Puzzleā€ from Lufia II last night while Playing Prof. Layton. I have done it before but I don’t remember every step I took.

Just started playing The Dark Spire. old school RPG goodness.

I got fucked in the ass by some goblins on the second floor though…I forsee a lot of grinding in the near future…

The more I play it, the less it feels like an actual Suikoden title. A lot of the key elemnst of past titles are gone; it feels unecessary to have 108 characters when you can’t really choose thier magic, and they can all use most weapons.

On another note, I’ve been thinking about picking up Etrian Odyssey 2; any thoughts?
