The Nintendo DS thread v.2

While that kinda sucks because I wouldn’t minded seeing more not-so-child-friendly titles on DS, at the same time… it’s still just GTA. I’m sorta pleased to see one flop, TBH.

IGN’s The Dark Spire Review.

Despite the favorable rating, much of what I’m reading worries me.

I’m never happy to see any well made game flop, ever. That just leads to developers becoming fearful of producing quality that isn’t aimed at a particular demographic.

I’ve never bought a GTA game myself, because I don’t enjoy open world sandbox games, but I’d be a fool not to recognize how well made almost all of them were, how much thoughtfulness went behind their creation.

I almost want to buy a copy of the DS one just to show my support. I doubt I’d even play it, but still.

True!!!Its good for the camera too cuz i think new games will include camera something(w/e you call that)

Honestly, don’t buy it if you arent going to play it. I’d hate for a fellow gamer to regret buying something. Honestly, if gaming companies had paypal accounts so we can donate money to show support, I’d definitely do that instead of buying something that I wouldnt touch.

Instead, tell people who would be interested in it to buy it. The gaming gospel works better than you know. I’ve played GTA: CTW and can say that its a great reflection of the over the top old school GTA games. In fact, I’d say it’s much, much better than them.

See, I don’t even really think the GTA games are well-made, but I guess that’s just me.

They are. You don’t have to like them. But you cannot deny how much goes into them, and how well all of that material is fit together.

That’s fair, though the plus side of buying a copy of the game I never plan to open is that if it somehow rapidly appreciates in value I can make a profit.

I like pinoy’s idea. I would donate some money to some games/game companies if such a thing existed.

This method would also bypass any of the royalty fees consoles charge for allowing developers to make games on their system.

The downside is that developers could re-nig and not make shit for people who donated for x game to be made.

  • I’ll see about that there. Don’t have a AR, but something else. Thanks though

  • I just BEAT Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Great story and replay value. Now comes the COMPLETion work because of that replay value.100 Cameras, 40 USJs, 8 or so apartments and two statues to find. DS needs more games like this.

And the credits were WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long. You can’t be serious.

I dont think that will happen with today’s games since major hits are produced in bulk. Usually the ones that have value are limited in copies made. So, here’s hoping GTACTW is an epic failure so it will be more valuable in the near future. jk.

I can’t wait for Devil Survivor in June.
I wanna play that shit now. : u

man that article about gta sales makes me worried about the future of the ds games. Am I the only one that owns more DS titles than 360 and ps3? i hope not.

I enjoy my ds more than I have ever enjoyed 360 or ps3.

Well, I don’t even have a 360/PS3, so by default, yup, I own way more DS game than any other system. The DS game boxes are stacked pretty high heh. I buy every single game. I like spending the money on them.

I really want to play it as well; the style caught my eye.

This does suck but believe it or not the base to buy this game is definitely there and they’re also not taking into account the ‘slow burn’ that many ds games go through. I still see people coming into the store and buying it regularly but they’re not just picking it up like crazy as if it was a home console gta. I barely ever count the first month on sales for ds games because of the ‘slow burn’ that many of them go through. If numbers are still down within 3 months after release then I’d say it’s definitely time to worry. I hadn’t actually planned on buying GTA but like specs I will show support to developers who actually put forth effort on stuff so I may end up buying this.

Edit:
speaking of that game GS is doing a promotion right now where if you buy that game and a DSi you get 20 bucks off of GTA.

From Cheapassgamer:
Amazon pre-order deals. Small discounts, but take into account free super saver shipping for orders over $25 and no tax (depending on where you live). These are pretty good deals.

It’s coming out in June? Wow, a lot earlier than I expected…

Also, don’t know if anyone here has done it yet (out of the 3 people that play this game here), but I beat Suikoden finally! Obviously didn’t get the best ending though…

Onto finishing Prof Layton now.

copping my DSi as soon as i get my new debit card. what games should i pick with it? I heard that the Valkyrie profile game is good.

Do any of you own a TTDS? No NDS owner should be without one.

ONEZ

like I mentioned earlier you can practically get GTA for 15 bucks if you buy your DSi and GTA together at GS.
