Dragon Quest IX has finally been dated in Japan. March 2009. We will probably see this in 2010 :-/

Thinking of picking up Dragon Quest IV, but I dunno yet. I still don’t approve $40 price tags for DS games.

Hm, looks like DS is getting it’s own Monster Hunter series with Phantasy Star 0 coming out. That game better come to the US.
Also, on this new DS design does anyone know is flashcarts work in it? Or am I gonna have to stick to my old DS lite?
I have no idea. I was talking to a friend about it earlier and said unless they change the hardware it wouldn’t be possible, but who knows.

Seems superfluous to me. I got a phone with a camera. I have an mp3 player. I have an iPhone that works as a phone, a camera and an mp3 player0. I have a laptop and a desktop pc. And I still play my gameboy advance titles. Doesn’t really do it for me. The removal of the gba slot is the only reason I wouldn’t pick it up.
Yeah I sold my lite today is anticipation of picking one of these up, now I’m not so sure I want it. To me it screams “made for Japan and not really made with anywhere else in mind”. GBA slot > Camera gimmick nonsense.
And isn’t the DS 4 years+ is now really the time to introduce a new point download service, IMO that would have been best held for the next gen Nintendo handheld. I’m trying to understand why Nintendo is doing this because I don’t see this selling much outside Japan.

I’m probably not going to get the DSi because of the removal of the GBA slot and the much lower battery life :shake:
I doubt DSi is anything but a defensive maneuver against that other handheld’s hardware update due this fall. It’s really meant for the Japan battleground, otherwise there wouldn’t be this huge gap between the Japan launch date and the rest of the world’s.

these improvements are half ass for sure. nothing innovative at all. they didnt even make the d-pad or buttons better. it’s still ****. the camera is totally useless to many people as they already have cell phones and digital cameras on hand. my cell has 5 mp cam and that leaves my digital cam obsolete at home. the only good feature that took 2 seconds to figure out is the extra big screens. if they’re asking 129 i’ll shell out for that but if they’re asking 179 and try to match psp no fucking thx i’ll stick to my ds lite.

WOW it is 180 dollars. i think this is a bad move by nintendo. at least make it 129 and replace the ds lites. for 129 there is no contest between this and a psp but for 180 people will start to compare. stupid. to make it even worse you’re gonna look like a dumbass when you take pictures with that.

Nintendo just pulled an Examu. I hear the battery life is lower in the DSi.
Not really interested in the DSi. Its good to know that its not something that will make me want to upgrade, haha. The bigger screen is nice, but no GBA slot is :-(. I wonder how long until someone comes out with a card that uses the built in SD slot for roms. I was wondering if they were going to announce any games that would take advantage of the new model, but I guess not.
Here’s the full list of games revealed at the Press Conference. Only one previously unannounced title really stands out to me, and its a nice one. Scratch that, I just saw two others that excite me. 
Yup. I just got a DS Lite and didn’t own a GBA. Unless they’re doing a game boy VC, do not want.
Damn, I just read that they’re doing “DS Ware”, which is similar to Wii Ware, but for DS. Meaning original downloadable games for DS, I think? If this is the case, I would think they’d have to release some kind of SD support for the current DS models.
