I’m slightly interested. 3.0mp camera with possible video conferencing…if they have skype for it, that’d rule.
Er. . .I mean, this DSi sounds a little interesting at least. It’s smaller, which is good. But everything else–the camera, the lack of a GBA slot, the minimal music options, the larger internal memory for DSware games–is not really that critical.
I don’t use cameras, I like my Golden Sun/Yoshi’s Island/SFA3 GBA carts, I have an iPod, and I’m too poor for DSware. So no, I’m not impressed. Although my DS Lite is getting a bit old and worn out. . .but I might as well just spring for another DS Lite, not this newfangled nonsense.
The camera is actually .3 MP. As in 300,000 pixels… still interested?
That’s crap. I have a 2 MP camera on my Blackjack II and it came out a few years back. Still on the fence. I want to see how and what it does.
Well, given that the resolution of the DS screens is less than 300,000 any way, it doesn’t matter, right?
Also, Mario & Luigi 3 screens (and link to clips of all announced DS titles)
Looks like Wario Ware is a game in which you can create/customize minigames.
And the 3D Picross looks pretty awesome.
The old DS Lite or the new DSi?
I think both? And Shining Force Feather looks pretty awesome, from the one 2 second clip they showed, haha.
And regarding the screen size, JT, not sure, but I think both are under 300,000. But I guess if you’re going to take pics and save them on a card to put on your PC or something, bigger can’t hurt.
My DS lite is dying, so I’m probably going to wait to replace it with a DSi, although I agree that it’s not that huge of a deal. The lack of a GBA slot is kind of a bummer (I have a few GBA games), but not a deal-breaker for me. I’m sure I can always find a cheap GBA micro
I’m going to preorder a black one off of play-asia as soon as it’s available.
Hmmm the lower battery life and higher price would cause me to hold back. If my curreny DS Lite were to somehow die though, hmmm maybe I’d probably pick up a DSi. The lack of a GBA slot isn’t a deal breaker for me since I’ve never touched GBA game in years anyway, and the rumble pack only works for very few games.
The DSi is cute, but I think I’ll just stick with my black/red DS Lite. I never caught onto the “______ that doubles as a camera” thing.
anyone ever play Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 March of Mnis?
Any thoughts?
I really wonder how DS games will be played with a bigger screen. Stretched, I assume.
Also the SD support is just BEGGING for homebrew on the DSi.
Yeah I think I’m gonna stick with my red/black DS lite also. I’m not a fan of lower battery life, plus the GBA library is way too good to just drop outta the blue. DSi does have some interesting features, but nothing close to what I made me get DS lite in the first place.
NoA is having their own Press Conference today.
Fire Emblem news is pretty awesome.
Rhythm Heaven is coming out in the 1st half of 2009 in the US (Woohoo! But that’s a long ways from now)
CLUB NINTENDO FOR NORTH AMERICA!!!
That’s the biggest news I’ve seen. If you don’t know what that’s about, wiki it.
When has Nintendo ever not required you to buy new hardware for incremental upgrades? Come on. I really like the DS and kind of like Nintendo, but come on.
Dragon Quest IX vid. Its only an anime intro/promo for the game, but it looks cool… and the sound effects are nice. But I think it cuts off at the end. Looking forward to actual gameplay when its shown at TGS.
Sonic Chronicles out. I posted extended impressions in the Sonic thread. Long story short: it’s good. But that’s all it is.
This new DS is nice and all, but it seems to be only very slightly bigger. The only reason I’d pick one up is the downloadable content, and even then, if Nintendo somehow, someway releases an update for current DSs (they won’t, I know), I’m perfectly fine with my DS Lite.
SO NINJA I MADE ANOTHER POST BEFORE EDITING THIS EDIT - If the DLC is ass (like WiiWare) I won’t bother anyway.
Since I didn’t get a DS Lite (Infini had one so I just played that), I guess I’ll pick up the DSi when it drops.
That’s probably best, especially if there are no GBA titles you want to play.
What sucks, though, is that some DS games needed the GBA slot in some way. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow would give you a bonus item on new game startup if you had Aria of Sorrow in the GBA slot.
