Yeah, I know the balloon trick and have 100% for Sarah (it was faster than 100% with Lion…), I"m just angry at the game for making me waste around 1000 matches against an AI that doesn’t even block (anything below six dan CPU opponents? utter goddamn waste of time). That’s fun.
Thanks for the Brady Games guide reference - I’ll look into that.
Go to Quest mode.
Get to a loss number ending in 7.
Get to a win number ending in 6.
SAVE
Win ONE match in an arcade, then exit to the overhead arcade view screen. Is there a balloon floating there?
IF THERE IS A BALLOON: Wait until the balloon is over your favorite arcade, then immediately enter that arcade, win 9 fights. Most of those should be Item fights! Then exit the arcade, save, and repeat from the top.
IF THERE IS NOT A BALLOON: Exit to the Xbox Dashboard (quit the game, do not save, you already saved at x6W x7K!) and try again (get the one win, exit the arcade…).
The netcode on VF is one of the best for a fighter to date. I think you’ve been playing people from japan or the UK. Try looking for people with 3 bars or higher. The grey ones are the ones to avoid.
To jump you need to hit up and hold either p or k. Be careful though, if you let it may attack out of the jump. If you’re enemy is down use one of the buttons that doesn’t pounce on your enemy.
I’d much rather have more people playing the game and taking it seriously first.
There’s already less U.S. people playing the game now that it’s been out for 2 months on 360. I just don’t understand this shit man, come on here and see everyone arguing about theory fighter all day long and begging and pleading for games to play or be a certain way, yet they sit here and neglect VF when it’s got something that everyone seems to be wanting(yet probably don’t know cause they didn’t play the game or give it a chance) even down to the graphics.
I would’ve thought that alot of people here on SRK would’ve been all over this game, trying to get competitive and everything, especially given SRK’s desperation for fighters lately(playing games they used to hate and bash on constantly).
I don’t understand it, and that’s partly why I haven’t even been around here lately cause I’m tired of seeing constantly theory fighter threads where people can’t agree on something yet the game people seem to be really looking for, is right there in front of them.
Virtua fighter have a very small following(most of which is on vfdc) Personally, I dont know why so many people are driven away from VF. Whether it be too hard, steep, requires alot of time, etc; people just arent attracted to VF as much as say flashier games like Tekken.
I think the reason most people aren’t attracted to this game is because to be good you have to take turns attacking. As my friend once stated, it’s too much like chess for him to play.
I’m not sure it’s any more or less “turn-based” than any other fighter, it’s just that there seems to be no shortage of rationalizations trotted out by people in other communities for not wanting to play. Most of them are pretty nonsensical and borderline on posturing, and then some are justified – not having the time, just not liking the game, etc.
Another issue with VF’s appeal in the West is that because of the proliferation of story-based and “experience”-style games people are put off by the lack of context in VFs overall story. Okay, so, people just kinda fight and it’s really, really pretty? This is a sensibility more suited to the arcade where you’re there with friends and just want cool shit to happen on screen.
I think the reputation that VF players have of being elitist, know-it-all snobs when it comes to their game and others damages the potential size of the community as well. (whether this reputation is justified is a whole nother can of worms I’d like NOT to discuss with anyone ever again, because it’s such a huge distraction from actually playing the damn game…)
If people would stop trying to front-load their interaction with these types of games with all kinds of mental noise and pointless bickering/posturing and just SHUT THE HELL UP and play to see if they like it or not and went from there, I think life would be a lot easier for everyone. I think VF, along with the rest of the competitive fighting set would be a lot better off overall…
For alot of people vf5 is there first vf (or atleast the first they had the chance to play against people) so there level of play isnt exactly a bystander will look and be like wow I wanna play this! They are just seeing whose pppk hits first(no offense to some)So maybe Slide is right and people should just worry about stepping up their game. Slide hit me up later I want to show you how dirty Wolf can be
It’s just as long as the last digit is an odd number. Examples: 377/17, 219/39, etc. Just do it with 7s as the last digit for a better rate of success.
EDIT: I don’t really find VF5 more turn-based than any other fighter. In-fact, I find it less turn based than nearly all thanks to the defensive options available. I agree with EmX on the reasons. When I first got into the game, there was only a handful of truly welcoming players. By welcoming I mean, they encouraged me to stick with it and not talk me down. Many of the vets I encountered kept blabbing about how hard the game was, how there’s no scene for it to warrant me playing it, etc. It almost seemed like they didn’t want new players.
For awhile I found myself real defensive when people talked shit about VF in-front of me or to me lol. Now? I just state my take on the game and say why it is I like it so much, and just leave it at that.
Old as VF player here. You know it’s kind of like this to be honest. In the US VF just isn’t cool enough. The characters are kind of flaky, the moves don’t really make you go OUCH! The sounds of the big hits sound like gongs going off. Honestly that’s really what I think it boils down to for the masses.
Now VF never tried to be cool (I think that Brad and Goh were an attempt to appeal honestly) and shouldn’t. The focus of VF has been its gameplay. (I hate when people say realistic hah) There’s a lot of options which is cool and it’s fairly balanced.
Americans don’t like balance. We also don’t like to think to hard, rather react.
Never posted in here before, but was reading the last page with all the arguing and just wanted to say some things.
Mainly, I was, for a long time, under the sway of a majority of fighting game peoples that VF was too ridiculously challenging and time consuming. I started playing VF 4 Evo a couple of months ago and I simply don’t get the opinions people have on the game. For me it was one of the most intuitive fighting games I’ve played. It’s deep alright, but the game’s more into reaction time and quick thinking than “when can I get into Genei-Jin”. The combos don’t require a million quarter circles and I feel the game is just alot freer in the player’s options all around.
I’m even getting some of my non fighting game friends into it, and they’re not struggling nearly as much with the game as they did with third strike and the like.
I think the VF reputation is ill gotten and just built up on heresay without many people actually trying to play the game.
