*I will update this first post with more information as it comes, together with other VF enthusiasts, lets try and bring the popularity of this game up around the world. It’s an incredible series that deserves some love.

Hell yes! New thread!

Can’t wait to get this. Goh is so much better here than he is in Vf4evo.

does anyone know if there’s a way, other than having a memory card, to have my profile on another console. For example, going to a friends house and recovering my gamertag from there? or is there a way to put the save data on another device, external HD for example? I have no reason to own a memory card and I’m just curious if I’m going to have to pick one up to use my akira on other consoles.

Oh yeah and the 360 version is awesome. I think I’m enjoying the character customisation a little bit too much, lol.

sigh, why does my shit get rrod literally days before vf5’s release? ive been very patiently waiting =(

If you perform an Account Recovery you will effectively lose all your data from wherever you recovered it from. For example:

Your Xbox - Your Gamertag - Your VF5 save data. You then go to your friend’s house, perform an Account Recovery, and now only your gamertag and basic information is transferred onto your friend’s xbox. Now save data comes with it, and from what I’m told, your save data on your xbox is also gone (Though I doubt that).

It’s just easier picking up a 64MB memory card at a GS/EB/eBay for like $20-40.

Also, anyone know if when you create a profile it is stuck to that one specific character? I sometimes get bored between one of my two characters and switch to the other but would like to keep my same win-loss ratio and points.

is there a ver c tier list?

edit: nvm, i found one

This is the longest wait I’ve ever felt for a video game. Every day seems like an eternity.

Only two more days!!!

Really? Even longer than Duke Nukem Forever?

Can’t be as long as Street Fighter 4 enthusiasts lol!

For those wondering about Version C changes I will try to make a post early in this thread (maybe even modify begining post with all the changes as soon as a I get a final concise collection of ALL the changes.

Arcadia has NOT released a tier list for version C though I suspect they probably will when the game has enough tournaments under thier belt.

Akai of VFDC maybe an incredible database of the placing of characters in ver. B following hundreds of tournaments in japan, I will try to find that info again.

hah duke nukem forever was ANNOUNCED back in the 90s. sf4 was never announced til recently. heh.

anyway, i hope online is playable. i hear it is tho

GODDAMNIT WITH SOME RICE AND CHITLAINS, BATMAN!!

I still haven’t got my 360, and I’m just now realizing it’s coming out in 2 days. Well its time to gets me one. So I can hold it down for Chibita and other Lion players.

This game deserves to be popular (tournament-wise); it is one of the deepest games of all time (this is the only video game that has been honored in that art center, can’t remember the name.) Hopefully this release will inspire huge turnouts for tournaments (with online play being available, not that it matters for the more serious crowd.) I only had about an hour of total play on two separate occasions, but I enjoyed each minute, and I was actually learning on the fly. I don’t think this game is too daunting (it is if you want to be the best, but there are layers in this game where you feel that you are always improving, instead of hitting a roadblock, and it takes good dedication, among other things, to surpass that roadblock.)

People here talk about beating the Japanese at their game is a milestone, well, THIS is their game (there were 30,000 people at the national Virtua Fighter 5 tournament last year in Japan, Alpha 3 only had 10,000, the latest Madden Challenge had about 17,000 people, in the land where this game sells like hotcakes.) If you want to be the best in the WORLD at this game, this is probably the toughest test among fighting games; and you aren’t just having to go through Japan, but Korea, China, and Taiwan are known to have great players… And Europe has a decent scene as well.

What was the biggest cash pot for this game Tarkan if u know? Since that’s the case with all those ppl. That sounds like the pC gaming RTS community numbers right there?

Question- which version of the 360 should I get for this- the gimped or regular version?

I will want to play other games down the line, but not getting a while lot, and not going to be a 360 for much XBL stuff (SFHD maybe and SSII, that’s about it for now)

I think the regular version is a better choice- but afraid of getting older model, and afraid of 360’s breaking.

Also, is bottom tier hopeless in this? I saw a tier listing for B and had the char I’d want to use ranked low (Aoi)

Bottom tier is far from hopeless in VF5, but expect to spend more time learning how to win (not necessarily how to use the character) than if you picked a stronger character.

Sounds like you should be fine with the Arcade Bundle. You can pick up a HDD later when you really start to care about it. Plus, you will get that memory card inside the pack so you can take your GT/Character to tournaments/gatherings. SFHD isn’t due out until like Spring time '08 anyways. I don’t know what SSII is: Samurai Showdown II?

If you’re worried about getting an old model, all the Arcade 360s have the HDMI port which either means (A) The new heatsinks (B) The new Falcon chips © Both (A) and (B). The Falcon Chips I hear are just very recent and you really have a high chance of them if the system was manufactured in the last half of September. You can always ask the store to see what the manufacturing date is (It’s listed right above the serial number which is viewable from a flap on the side of the box). It may be a bit harder in the Wal-marts and Target stores, but you can get a more in-close look at it if you go by the Gamestop/EB Games.

And then of course you got that 1-year warranty on everything but the 3 red lights issue, along with the 3-year warranty of the 3 red lights.

I won’t lie to you, Aoi isn’t easy to pick up, and like EmX said, you’ll have to spend more time than some others just learning how to beat people, and not necessarily learning Aoi. But like the rest of the cast, she can beast. I don’t play her, but I think she’s one of the coolest characters in the game.

I like this new thread, it should of just been the 360 VF5 only thread :bgrin:

I have my VF5 stick ready and can’t wait till Tuesday!!

Finally a REAL online fighter is going to be available, DEATH to DOA4!!!

The store employees don’t always know.

It’s safer to get the Halo 3 model, cause it’s already known that they have the falcon chips in them.

I had went asking around cause my old 360 failed on me in Qatar and I knew that with the turn in warranty they don’t falcon chip it, cause there’s people that constantly have their 360s fail more than once. My old one I’ll end up selling to a friend of mine, for dirt cheap and he can just get it fixed from there.

Man I can’t wait to start at this game.

If it’s anything like the PS3 version (which I’m assuming it is) then yes it does. I presume it’s to encourage the “stick with one character” philosophy and to mimic the arcade’s card system.
