Vanessa can be hit with the last combo I listed and most any common Akira combos unless you meant something else.
Tactics, sorry.
Take advantage of Akira’s irreversable moves to get past vanessa’s natural defense of inashi, sabaki’s, and reversals that are common in DS Vanessa.

In general Vanessa is a lot of kicks, high punches, and knees. So the only real notable sabaki that Akira can use now and then in the match up is 3P+K+GP to deflect the obvious high/low punch interrupts in situations.
Akira is prone to eating big punishment if he whiffs so don’t throw stuff out unless you know it will connect. Try to get Vanessa to whiff or committ to a string, if you evade a string you can usually punish with at least 46P for slam combo, or at best Yoho them for a ton of damage, or even OM K for sideturned crumple.
Against OS Vanessa, strings are common so again try to evade them and let her whiff then punish for big damage. Also note that her best strings are ones that end high so try to duck them and punish her as fast as you can.
Bewary of running K+G as a lot of vanessa will try that move on you unless you punish them enough that they stop.
Also, her best throw directions are foward, back, and down respectively

Kind of funny that you brought up the superlative VF4Evo training mode since Sega removed it from VF5. Virtua Fighter finally being online (props to Sega for doing that) is bringing a lot of new fighting fans to the Virtua Fighting system, and it’s an absolute crime that the Evo system is not there to teach players the fundamentals and advanced tactics.
Yes, there is a difference. If the items are on the disc, you’re essentially paying for a cheat code to unlock them. If they aren’t on the disc, then Sega created additional content.
From the initial reporting of the DLC availability, it looked like the items were on the disc, and that’s where I had an issue (since you’re paying for content that you already paid for when you bought the game). Since later reporting reveals that the items aren’t on the disc, then the issue becomes whether you believe the price of obtaining the additional content is worth it.
Ah, that’s where the principles of free market really apply. If enough people find that the content Sega is offering is at a fair price, then Sega will be rewarded. If not enough people buy it, then Sega will be aware that their content is too expensive and/or the content’s perceived value is not good enough.
And Sega doesn’t need purchases of DLC to find out how popular their game is. Xbox LIVE keeps track of what people are playing, so they can refer to those stats if they want to see how popular their game is.

Blaze actually got a pretty good end of the deal. New mask (which is kind of his livelihood, imo), chest tat. Most characters got a shitty necklace (that 1-3 other chars can/did get), and a shitty blue hair.
Kage, Blaze, and Sarah probably have the best new content.
This may be a pet peeve, but anybody think the “oversaturated” hair colors look dumb? Like if there was an RGB scale included, the “blue hair” is like R-0|G-0|B-255. The “red hair” is R-255|G-0|B-0.
I’d kill for a “color edit” mode. Some of the pieces look great, but have crappy coloring. Other pieces are great, and a great color, but have no matching/complimentary pieces to go with it.
EX - It sucks not to have, say, “Fire Foot Guards” for Jeff to match his “Fire Gloves”. Just one example.
You have to understand that with very few exceptions, the idea was to give each character items that can be used with A, B, C, D. So it was kinda difficult trying to get a medium. That being said I wouldn’t mind specific char packs loaded with different options specifically tailored for A/B/C/D. I think the “Gold Ring Necklace” is kind of a cop-out.
Out of all the cool wrestling homage stuff you could’ve given Wolf. An oriental ring necklace? How about some badass looking chainmail? Or different face paints? Or Hulk Hogan hair? Wtf, if he had Hulk Hogan hair, I’d start playing Wolf TONIGHT.
Does anyone know if akira has his akuma hair in the stand alone 360 version or will I have to wait for more DLC?
Fairly sure you’ll have to wait. I don’t think that came about till midway through Version C’s time in the arcades.
grrr!! then my akuma costume will not be complete!! It kind of works with spikey red hair but it’s not the ‘real deal’. I think I’m just going to scrap it and go with the bare chest and big sign on the back.
I’m really getting into the game since the 360 release. A week ago I didn’t have a clue what fuzzy gaurding was but reading up and trying out some of the vf specific techniques has been really fun. I’ve only ever played or enjoyed 2d games up untill now. However, I don’t think the online comp is going to keep me playing though, I really can’t deal with the lag of playing people in the US. Hopefully there’ll be some UK comps that I can go to and get my arse kicked.

I’ve gotten all of Goh’s items, and it almost makes me sad. I wish there were more. Oh well. He looks pretty badass cosplaying Iori.

Sorry I have the wireless mic and sometimes after wearing it for awhile I get a horrible earache I swear it is giving me brain cancer. I was tryingtograb you with acounter alot because i really dont know how to stop Sarah with wolf. AlsoI can not get either of Wolfs 360 throws online(only got it once last night) but I was trying mix them up after a but after you started breaking throws

Okay that’s cool.
You should try to tech roll now and then (2/8P+K+G before you hit the ground) after a while I could sort of just assume you would never tech roll and get a down attack everytime.
I think you need to stay at least medium range if not 100% time close range to Sarah. Wolf can only get away with 66P+K so many times before it becomes easy to see and deal with. Your not bad, just need to work on seeing punishable stuff (like the 2 hit launcher Serpent Cannon, when you block it you can punish with a lot of stuff) and also finishing combos like Short Shoulder P->Screw Hook combo and CH Knee ->4K+GK.
Also good stuff hitting those GS’s on me, some of the times I didn’t even expect them hahahaha try to get the timing down for the half life version so you get at least 80 dmg everytime.
