I’m having fun but unfortunately I lag a little. I had a feeling this would happen since I lagged A TON when DoA4 came out. My connection horrible

apologies to Chipp / Aya for kinda disappearing early afternoon, i kind of failed to mention i had work from 3-10. i hopped on for a few hours afterwards and didn’t see you so i just played random scrubs, although there’s this beastly Akira that beat me down ( anybody else played UKDiddy yet? ) quite a few times. Lion sucks versus Akira’s okizeme game ;_;
man, when lag does crop up in this netplay it can be really annoying but thankfully it’s been at a minimum / not as noticeable as in some other games ( KOFF DOA4 KOFF ).
also the lack of a rematch option i must say is really debilitating…

If you want to play a dude over and over, set up a private session for him. Otherwise it’s like the arcade, you play a new dude everytime 
Is Lau top? I haven’t kept up with VF in years and he seemed really easy to pick up.

that guys akira is SICK. none of my antiscrub tactics worked on him. and he knew exactly which of my moves was throw punishable.
I almost always have my mic on. Also, what is your connection? I upgraded mine (10 bucks more a month) and really noticed a direct/instant difference. When I play with someone else using 8MB cable it’s probably the best conditions I’ve experienced yet.

Is the NAT on your router open? Most Xbox Live players don’t even know what this means. Go here and read up. This is the most comprehensive guide I’ve found online for helping out Xbox online performance. Yeah it’s a Halo guide, but it applies to all Xbox games. Give it a shot, it might make all the difference, especially if you have certain types of routers (cough Linksys cough).
I’m one of the jerks that doesn’t usually plug in my mic unless I know you already, hah. I play games on Xbox live to play games, not to make 17-year-old stoner friends (which is who you talk to on Xbox Live; I am aware my experience is colored significantly by the always-lovely Halo community). ;p
Also, for anyone looking at the Hori EX2 - it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be. It is, in fact, not bad at all, for being a stock retail stick. But just like the old classic Ascii Greenstick for DC or the oooold Namco grey/yellow stick on PS1, you gotta go easy on it. The switches are just not built authentic arcade tough. Go easy on the stick itself and use a light touch and you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck out of it (and can look at modding it when it finally goes out, which it will). Go hard on it, and yeah, it’s gonna die. But don’t believe any hype you’ve heard that it’s worthless, it’s great for 50-60 bucks if you don’t want to look at getting a next-gen custom stick. I’ve had two custom-built sticks for PS2/DC for like seven years now that I still use for Marvel/3S/whatever, and I didn’t feel like moving up just yet to a custom stick for 360/PS3 also. My ONLY objection to the Hori EX2 is that the ‘back’ button is right next to the 360 ‘home’ button. I cannot tell you how many times I went in training mode to hit the ‘back’ button to reset positions and I hit ‘home’ instead and had to wait 5 seconds for the dashboard blade to swoop in so I could send it away again.
I don’t like the Hori FS3 on PS3 as much, if only because I don’t like the sloping button layout they used, but otherwise it’s the same thing.
How bad or often does the game lag, I dont exactly want the random lag to mess up my inputs like DOA4

I haven’t played a vf game seriously since vf2 on saturn a decade ago. I won’t get the money to grab this game for another few weeks at best though. I’ve been playing the hell out of the demo to try to get back into it. I wouldn’t say I was ever really good at vf2 but damn. I am a total noob at this shit now but it is making me remember why I use to love this fucking series.
big thanks to the OP with all the links on the first page/post btw. Shit is helping me get back into it. Might as well practice my sarah on this demo till I can get the full game and go online
The game is balanced enough that he might as well be top. And yeah, he’s one of the easier characters to learn and is a great rushdown character.
I could be wrong since I haven’t gone that deep into Lau so perhaps someone else could clarify.

I spent all of last night playing a mad Wolf with my meagerly improving Brad in a private match. The connection was amazing, we both commented on it like we were playing face to face.

I’ve got a paper to finish for school but I should be on later tonight.
I was unable to get grab a stick when I got the game, so I’m a noob that’s also playing on pad, so be prepared for a bit of scrubbiness while I continue to learn how to play.

Lag has been on and off for me. Still, much better than any game I have ever played. For me, it is either running at 100%, or it just flat out stops, not even slowing, just pausing for half a second. I think the netcode here is really good.
So I went out and bought the guide and guess what site it plugs? SRK. I kinda regret getting it cause it doesn’t have frame data even though they mention it.
