best smallville season premier ever. jimmy olsen introduction was great, zod was the fucking man. so many superman refrences in it too. you even got to see the terrance stamp zod coming out of lex! man that episode was way too hot. i captured it on my pc, gonna watch it again =]
good episode, but way too much happened in 1 hour; should have been 2
I agree with Io. Shortest climactic battle ever.
That said, I definitely see some cool stuff happening… I really hope this season takes advantage of all the potential they have going on, and doesn’t resort to a bunch of filler episodes like in previous years. There’s enough good stuff here to fill up the season.
And hey, somebody actually knelt before Zod.
Only thing I’m looking forward to is the Justice League episode…

So basically…any predictions on when Mariah (sp?) shows up again? Im pretty sure all the Phantom Zone people survived b/c Clark’s injuries were instantly healed once he hit Earth.

Earth’s sun healed Clark’s injuries. The fact that he wasn’t in the Phantom Zone anymore had nothing to do with it. Had Clark landed on a planet with a red sun for example, that wouldn’t have healed his injuries.

Yeah, dling it on torrent is fine and all, but I prefer shows in their full HD glory, and whoever encoded the AC3 audio done messed up because voices sounded like they were underwater

Smallville has lost a lost of its charm for me. Maybe it’s because I watched the first four seasons on DVD and had to suffer through the Naruto-esque filler for 6 months last season. If they jump into immediate filler on episode two, I think I’ll call it game. We’re on season 6 and “Clark” hasn’t even flown yet. I was waiting for a really insane moment where Clark has to reach down deep and give it everything he’s got to activate flight, but without Jeph Loeb, I don’t think these people have the capacity to tell a good story anymore.

Kryptonians are not invincible, unkillable, or any other hyperbole when in an environment that doesn’t cater to that ability. Earth’s Sun (indeed any yellow star like ours) is the source of their powers. Had those others gotten out of the Phantom Zone and fell to Earth (or more generically, into our solar system), then yes of course they too would have survived. However, they didn’t, they stayed in the Zone and died. Just like Clark would have had he stayed there and been beaten to death, or stabbed to death, or anything else fatal.
You didn’t see the other people get sucked through the portal and the 5other “comets” (Clark was one of them) that came out of the PZ? If not, I suggest you watch the episode again

I saw all of that. I’m not talking about those people. I’m talking about the ones who we saw that were clearly left behind. Like Raya (the girl who was helping him), who got stabbed and the guy whose throat she slit they didn’t get sucked into the exit. Neither did the one guy left alive who killed her.
I think you need to go back and rewatch it. During that fight scene we saw several of the phantoms come over the hill and it was they who got sucked out with Clark. They even showed one of those phantoms as the very last scene of the episode flying through a field with a waterfall.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that TOTALLY marked out when lex said “kneel before zod.” anyone notice when zod was exorcised from lex he looked EXACTLY like he did in the old superman movies? I love all the nods to older fans this show has.
I read that bruce wayne couldn’t appear on the show in prior seasons because of licensing issues with the new batman movie franchise. is all that still in effect? because seeing a young corporate badass bruce wayne get all in lex’s business would be pretty awesome even if we didn’t actually see batman.
