Long before Dr. Fine even showed up on this show, I theorized that the Jor El voice/spirit was really Brainiac fucking around with Clark’s life. Come on, now…the supposed Jor El has been an harsh, kinda-asshole-ish father figure since day 1. It really would make sense if this turned out to be true, especially considering how the Brainiac character is usually portrayed to have the ridiculous, super-genius intellect you’d expect from a sentient supercomputer/being. He would expect Clark to kill the “Fine” character instead of Lex, which worked into his master plan perfectly, as it released Zod.
The question is, how is Clark going to get out of this one???

I’m pretty sick of Lana period. She’s turning into a major bitch. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d give her my heat seeking rocket anytime, but damn… she really seems to just be getting in the way.
The episode was pretty cool. The whole knife thing was kinda “eh” but I like how Lionel is getting into it more.
I like the whole “Jor-El is really Zod” theory, but Iunno. I know it doesn’t take much to fool Clark, but that’s alittle far fetched. Would be cool though.
I’m going to be really dissapointed if Clark get’s out of another situation by Jor-El. I’m also gonna be hella dissapointed if we don’t get an appearence from Zod next season.
My guess is that Zod would make Lana her bride in world domination. All she wanted to know is the meteroid stuff and I guess she’s gotten too much that she expected.

i had heard they had to re-write the script the day before shooting the show, maybe the actor they wanted for zod bailed out or some shit and had to write that bs and have lex be zod.

I think we gotta not expect tight continuity between the movies the comics the cartoons and this show.
Sure some things follow well with others, but for the most part I think Smallville is essentially in it’s own separate Superman continuity.
when clark ‘killed’ brainiac the first time (right before he unleashed zod) in the fortress of solitude, you can see his prison moving towards the camera… is there a screencap of that anywhere? i mean afterall, we should be able to see what he looks like if it got close enough.
yeah it was a blurred face of zod or some shit in the phantom zone, i have to check my episodes later tonight. cant believe they’re completely throwing that out the window and having lex as zod though, would’ve been cooler if zod actually had a body -_- they should have just hired an actor that looked like terrance stamp, budget cant possibly be the problem if in every episode they rent out a porsche for lex to tear it up in :lol:

Ok, i´m not a fan of the Smallville but i´ve watched it a couple of times and although i think it´s not a bad show there are a couple of things that bother me:

Why is the timeline placed in the present era (internet, laptops, cell phones, etc)? i thought Superman was raised around the mid-80´s or something.

Why is Pete Ross black? I´m not a racist but the character in the comic book is actually blonde, it´s like having an asian guy acting as Peter Parker.
Easy. Because Smallville is more of a loose interpretation of the Superman backstory. It’s not intended to fit tightly with the Comics continuity. It was made to be modern to tell a good story using a character people already know and love.
There are a great many things about Smallville that don’t mesh with the comics, that however does not detract from the overall decent story telling they accomplish in the show.

I’m also wondering why they even gave him this stupid fear of heights. Even if he doesn’t know how to fly, he shouldn’t be afraid of heights because that fear is really a fear of falling. And a fear of falling is because normal people would go SPLAT and die. Clark knows damn well he wouldn’t get hurt or die from a fall (no matter how high up) who his fear of heights is beyond “irrational” it’s just plain stupid.
