Maybe this wasn’t as awful as season four… but Smallville has sunk to soap opera levels. Lana is an evil spymaster. Lex is still doing the “is he or isn’t he evil” routine. Lois is getting ready to hop in the sack with the latest semi-recurring character on the show… one who sees fit to yell all of his lines, no less.
Maybe next week will be better. At least it looks like it will have something to do with the Superman mythology.
