i’m wondering how xbox one is planning on getting around hdcp for their cable overlay. i mean… there was a reason why it was created, and i can’t capture my comcast cable box over hdmi because of it. I don’t see anyone concerned about this pretty obvious issue.
Wasn’t that a supposed problem with streaming in general for the PS4? Long as it works with Verizon FiOS I’ll be happy.
I’m not sure why they would advertise such a feature if they didn’t know in advance they could get through the HDCP hurdle. Microsoft has done some funny things, but I would assume they have something planned if they are going to advertise this to begin with. I know it won’t be an issue for game capturing devices for the system.
Really? It looks kinda chunky to me especially with the screen in the middle, but I haven’t actually held it yet. A wide rectangular controller is kinda weird to me. I’ll check it out. I know FPS guys still prefer the Xbox One controller the most. PS4 controller is typical PS controller. Still like the PS1 version the best, but the newer ones aren’t bad either.
I like that the Xbox One controller is finally getting a decent dpad and it looks like it’ll be a bit sturdier than the 360 one. I’ll mostly be playing fighting games any ways so if I can play everything on an arcade stick…that would be great.
when this was first announced, people speculated that cable and satellite providers would need to have subscribers use specialized boxes that worked with xbox’s hdmi-in. some speculated needing a special subscription as well for this. but that was at xbox one announcement. there has been little discussion to this, and if microsoft found some easy way around hdcp, then they could get in big trouble for assisting copywrite protection. most of the current dvr boxes (slingbox and tivo) require component inputs, something xbox one does not have either.
i’m just very interested to see what the solution is for this. i’m interested to see why people also are not concerned with this as well.
i’m also concerned with IR blasters in general… never had one that worked the way it needed to, and missed inputs make using them fucking impossible.
People aren’t concerned cuz they wanna play games. Sony boys wanna play games, Xbox boys wanna play games, Wii boys wanna play…games. The only difference is the games people specifically want will be on different systems. TBH that’s all I really wanna do and it’ll just be nice if I get the other perks without much hassle.
I’ve played the demo kiosks and the controller is comfortable but big at the same. I know people are about the Pro Controller for it, but the WiiU Pad is just fine.
Haven’t held the Xbone controller but it looks pretty small and doesn’t look all that comfy. The bottom part is too small and not spread out like the 360. The 360 controller is one of my favorites.
I’m hearing good things about the PS4 controller, especially that the analog sticks are more tight like the 360’s. The longer handles look nice as well and go out ala 360 as well.
The only thing I’m not liking about yhe PS4 controller, are those handles looking like two circumsized penis.
whats interesting about control is that it can change the feeling of a game completely, I remember getting those second generation xbox original controls and loving them, after a year when I played halo with the first controller it felt like it was meant to be.
I think peripherals are the future, we will see a lot of different preferances here and there and who knows, maybe 3d printers will be dirt cheap and allow shops/stations to offer custom casings for purchased control pad circuit boards
Yeah it’s just the future. Sony people are a bit jaded about it, but all the systems are pushing peripherals for their systems. I like the way Xbox One is doing it because you’re getting the best motion sensing and voice recognition technology in the box and everything else is stuff you can just pick up in your house and use to add to the experience. You don’t have to hold any other peripheral in your hand to make the Kinect add to your gaming experience. You can just say something or move your hand and get extra buttons.
The PS4’s Vita stuff and the Wii U having the second screen in the controller is great also and it shows that concepts like the Dreamcast’s VMU screen are finally fleshing into real useful stuff for gaming.
For the Xbox, i read that HDCP will not be applied during gaming… Not sure about cable/netflix as that would be illegal anyway, but you can always buy an HDCP stripper to address your issues.
I wish I was rcaido. I’ll have to settle for just one 500 dollar Xbox, a probably 200 dollar Xbox One TE2 and a couple cheap ass digital only games. I feel poor.
I always thought the kinect 2 would be amazing for the future but apparently it doesnt run at 60hz, though that doesnt matter for games that will be on the TV. the ps move on the other hand will be better for VR gaming. though that doesn’t matter since kinect 2 can register force which means kinect 2 with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vYUedb4Wgg IF they make it console compatible will create a full immersive experience
I’ll be getting the xbox one as well so it will be interesting to compare
I’m still really not sure on the putting shit on my head thing, but it sounds like it’d be a great 1,2 combination with the Kinect. I already like what the Kinect can do outside of VR any way so it would be interesting to see.
