The NEW Official Xbox® Thread: $399 system without Kinect coming in June

People have paid $500 for a lot less than the return of their favourite franchise. $500 can absolutely be a justified price for a game if it means enough to you.

I’m not trying to convince you to buy a PS4. You could buy an Xbox One just because you think it’s prettier and mount it up on your wall as a piece of art. Totally up to you.

However this is a discussion thread and I have the urge to discuss.

Me too. I really dont give a fuck what you buy. I would like to know why you buy it though.

@dirzzt360, we’ve already stated enough times why we specifically want an Xbox One over a PS4. PS4 right now just doesn’t have anything I want. It definitely seems like a better deal in the long run than a WiiU and I’m not really seeing anything from PS4 that will come in the next year that will make me feel like “man I shouldn’t have digged into Killer Instinct and Titanfall and saved my money for the 4 instead”. Just don’t see it. By the time I want a PS4 it’ll probably be 300 dollars just like the PS3 was when I bought it after having the 360 for a year and a half first.

All of the stuff I want is on Xbox One and I also like that if all 3 systems are trying to push motion sensing stuff, that the Xbox has the best one and it comes with the system. Nice little perk for me there. Long as I can play Killer Instinct, Crimson Dragon and the other One exclusives later on, it’ll be worth it for me.

Im talking about the multi tasking function, be able to have gaming, internet, music, etc… switching back in forth…This is what sold me as an entertainment all in one device.

Cant both systems do that. The only thing that differs is control method right?

P.S. Ive pretty much stopped reading your post DevilJin. You never actually answer my questions directly, you just kinda beat around the bush. Kinda like M$ PR. Anyway, I skim them and may miss stuff.

My posts give you what you’ve wanted. You just don’t like the answer because of bias from their previous DRM/always online/pay for Xbox Live stuff. You hear it, think about that, and get mad. Typical “Microsoft must pay” system war guy. Which is typical.

I haven’t heard anything about PS4 allowing you to switch channels with your voice (lot easier to remember than channel numbers) or basically do everything outside of playing a game without using a controller.

No there is no hdmi in for the PS4.

Xbox One has one for your cable box

I like the idea of loading up your game setup multiplayer & wait for people to join while watching tv/movies. I haven’t followed PS4 really at all but can they multitask like that?

@rcaido, yeah the PS4 multitasking commercial didn’t show anything about TV. Just you can play a game or stream a game then switch to another game or download said game to your PS4 from your cell phone. Didn’t really see much past that.

Im really not sure, but now I wanna look into it. What is HDMI In for? Is that for the tv stuff. I read about it not long ago I think but I forgot.

HMDI In is to hook up the Xbone to a cable box.

Thats what I thought. There is no other use for it?

You can also use it to plug your Xbox 360 into your Xbox One so you can use the Xbox One multitasking features and then switch to a 360 game. You’d have to have both systems on for that…but yeah. Might work with some other devices or have ways to connect with a laptop or PC also.

The main use is for the TV.

You might even be able to hook up your PS4 into it lol…

Killer Instinct for the guys here. The game is a blast!

People buying consoles for one game isn’t anything new.

I’d rather play Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3 and Crimson Dragon if I’m going to buy a launch than Killzone and Knack any way.

I’m sure the other people buying a One on launch are just getting it for Ryse, CoD Ghosts and Forza 5 while they wait for Titanfall and Halo (more FPS’s cuz FPS isdabes). I’ll get a PS4 eventually. No big deal. Just feel getting Killer Instinct is a great way to support fighting games and where fighting games should be going. Lots of great guys in the last 15 or 20 years of fighting games working on the game. I see it as another why not.

I get all of the systems because I like games. Systems are just what you play them on. I’d get a Wii also if I liked Nintendo, but I don’t like any of their IP’s.

I played it a ton here at the Seattle Madcatz event and it was solid. I won’t be picking up a Xbone at launch (MS and Sony don’t have good track records), but KI and Crimson Dragon are the games I’d be picking up if I did.
Going PC and WiiU for right now.

Kinect I like for navigating menus interacting with the non-gaming stuff. Not sure it can do anything awesome for games. I’m not feeling Oculus Rift either.

Gameplay wise of the next-gen stuff I’m feeling the WiiU pad the most. I’m a big fan of clean HUDs.

@Femto, you got a WiiU? What games are you planning to get on it? Haven’t heard much, but people talk crap about it outside of Bayo 2. So you like the WiiU because it keeps the HUD off the HDTV and on the controller screen? That’s interesting.

Off topic for a bit. Don’t have one yet but I’m getting one for Wonderful 101 and Bayo2 ( X most likely as well). What W101 becomes, and what they are going to pack in Bayo2(if it tops W101 I’ll be surprised though). I’ll be good for a long while.

If the developer is smart they can use the WiiU Pad instead of having to being up a menu screen every time you want to switch something.

It’s the little things that add up.

I’m doing reading on the PC stuff, just because I want Sega’s Arcade backlog.

if the wii u came out two years ago it would of wiped the floor with ps360 and had enough field experience to come out of the launch level of graphics, lighten the blow of ps4one and strategize.

but I dont know now, theres only a select few games i wanna play on wii u

Yeah WiiU is trying to hold on to the idea that people will buy games for Nintendo and cute gadgets, but these days it’s obvious that the gaming market makes up a majority of who buys systems (at least at their launch) and people want power and lots of first and third party support. Coming out with an HD Wii a year before the next gen systems is a big blow for them. They have a lot more catching up to do than One easily.

In the end if it’s like last gen, I think all 3 systems will find their niche and there will be a good assortment of people who have 2 or all 3 systems. Like usual.
