The NEW Official Xbox® Thread: $399 system without Kinect coming in June

Rivals has been smooth as butter for me on PS4. NBA2k14 on the other hand… after that “always online” patch got put out, I have had serious problems with even being able to get into offline play games (granted I’m on poor-quality WiMAX right now).

I can do some testing this weekend on the PS4 side. My XB1 doesn’t arrive until the middle of next week, and I can test them at that time (though I have NFS Rivals physical on PS4, and it will be digital on XB1, and I have to assume that there will be at least subtle differences)

Damn, they’re advertising and holding an XB1 contest through Chef Boyardee too lol!

How did this guy record himself and play at the same time?

Assuming he did it all through the Xbox One.

You can do picture and picture with the Kinect, but I didn’t realize you can do it with live recording like in that video.

Holy shit, that guy was raging in the fucking lobby. You know they’re gonna blow up when they’re already raging in the lobby.

Ahhh I just saw the upload date… That was on the 360. Disappointing, would have been cool to be able to record like that via XB1.

Can you put in custom HDD’s in the Xbox One to make installs/load times faster like the PS4, or did MS make it so only proprietary ones work like with the 360?

So, my disc tray doesn’t work. So much for the copies of Forza and Dead Rising 3 that I got in my bundle.
Other than that, I’ve been playing KI. It’s fun, but it really sucks that I’m actually dumb enough to spend $200 on yet another stick (will be my 8th), and they’re nowhere in stock. I ordered an extra pad because I knew the sticks weren’t widely available just yet, but it won’t be here for about a week. =( The joys of living in the Caribbean.

Are there any “tricks” to getting the disc drive to take discs in? A software/firmware update/reset of any sort I can try? Or am I just stuck paying lots of money to send my system back to MS and playing the waiting game? I have the 3-year warranty (which is ridiculous that they’re charging for it, knowing that they’re sending out defective units, and did so last system launch as well), so I’m not worried about it being covered other than not wanting to go through all the hassle and jumping through their customer service hoops.

^
try punching it like that guy did in that video (no i am not trolling , don’t flag me)

Trust me, I’m tempted (to punch it). I might fuck around with it a bit, use some burned CDs and see if I can kinda give them an extra push into the drive and get them to read. It just makes this awful clicking noise and sounds like it’s eating the disc.

If the disc tray being an issue becomes the case then I won’t have a problem just digitally downloading the games. Well, after they improve the download speeds because they are definitely mediocre at this point. Only thing I would use the disc tray for is Blu Rays and I already have 3 Blu Ray players (2 standard + PS3). Everything else I watch is also digital.

Damn, that sucks. I’d be fucking livid.

Do you at least get one to download one of those free Xbox One digital titles? Not sure if that was just a NA policy or a worldwide one.

By the way, anyonw with Rivals, is it another Burnout, or is it actually NFS this time?

Like Underground, Most Wanted 2005, ect? Free roaming and car modding?

I cant get behind that cinematic wreck, no manual transmission trash.

You will next year when X

Nah, you can’t replace the HDD at all without opening up the console. I’m sure there will be an external proprietary solution eventually, but external storage isn’t supported right now.

Replacing the 500gb in the PS4 with a 1tb drive is a nice option, but then you’d have a 500gb HDD sitting there unused. Both consoles NEED external storage support sooner rather than later.

It took me just over 30 minutes to have my PS4 HDD replaced with a 1.5TB drive, and have everything loaded back up and working properly.

There are warranty stickers on the XB1 that you have to break in order to access their HDD. It’s definitely possible to do since now they’re using regular drives without the funky casing, but now it’s inside so you void your warranty if you touch it… It’s kind of a poor design, especially without support for external storage.

Lack of external storage is also going to be an issue for PS4 users who choose to go digital this generation, as the games take up huge amounts of space (talking 30+GB) and the maximum capacity 2.5" hard drive at 9.5mm thickness is currently 1.5TB (there’s a 2TB announced, but not released yet)

LMAO, Thankfully no it isn’t
Stay salty Fans of the dork age of NFS

I haven’t seen anything about it yet - no emails or anything like that, and there was no voucher in the box (just the Day One achievement, and the 14 day trial for Live). Maybe I’ll see if they have a live support chat or any sort of email support, since I don’t feel like sitting on hold forever. Everything was done through my XBL account and it was purchased directly via Microsoft, so they shouldn’t really give me a hard time…hopefully.

I’ll let you guys know if I ever actually get around to doing that.

Why is it that most wanted 2005 is 40 used and most wanted 2012 is 20 new?

Besides nobody that actually likes cars would waste time playing need for burnout. That’s shits for 12 year Olds with add.

Yup, stay salty

@Rampage

Folks with explicitly defective optical drives were offered a free digital launch title to play while they waited for their replacement console. Again, not sure if these terms apply outside US, but wouldn’t hurt to ask when you do get through to customer support.

EDIT: For those unaware, MvC2 & UMvC3 (and its costume/Shuma/Jill DLC) will be delisted from Live on 12/26. Major Nelson just posted an upcoming holiday sale.

MvC2 & all the UMvC3 DLC are 75% off. UMvC3 itself is discounted by 83%. For all intents & purposes, this looks like the last chance to get those two characters and/or the costumes.

Guess I could buy MVC2 before it goes away.
