The NEW Official Xbox® Thread: $399 system without Kinect coming in June

Holy Moses, the last thing I need when I am mad in 2k is to get a technical for CURSING. 2k brings out the worst in everyone for some reason… I have never seen a game make people so angry and hostile. You can just ask someone “Do you play 2k?” They wont respond with “Yeah man I do!”, it’s more like “Yeah bro ill kick your ass in it.”

I like it, would be nice if they implement it in fighting games…Like if you get caught cussing/raging after loss, it will record you post it the Salty/Loser stream section.

Heh, in all the hubbub leading up to the console launches, I totally forgot about this feature. Once it does go live I hope MS can find a better way to promote the noteworthy games. The most popular XBLIG titles were mostly Minecraft ripoffs & avatar shovelware, but if you browsed deep enough you could come across some real gems (favorite was Take Arms).

I truly hated how hard it was to find good games, so many fuggin Minecraft rips and dumb avatar games. Potential was just left on the floor.

Quarrell was a good one though…

This is an unofficial list of issues & requested features from Reddit users. Not owning a system, I’m really surprised that some of the most basic features (i.e. disabling controller vibration to conserve battery life is a must for me) that were present even on the 360 are now absent.

It’s rather comprehensive & very easy to read. It’s at least caught the attention of Major Nelson, who said “things will get better.”

I hope someone can compile one for the PS4 as well.

Yeah some of the stuff is bit rough, if a friend sends me a party invite and I’m the middle of some action and don’t press the Guide button to accept it’s a clusterfuck of jumping to home, jumping to party, waiting for party options to load and then having to Turn Party Chat On(which is just dumb, if I’m willing to join a party, then I’ll probably be talking)
Wouldn’t be bad if I could just say Xbox Snap, Party, XBox Switch and make it quick and painless, but why isn’t there an option to permanently set Party Chat On as soon as join a party?
Dealing with parties in BF4 has been a goddamn nightmare, supposedly a lot of stability patches coming tonight for it though, but damn I miss the simple tap the guide feature and see friends and messages simply lined up. I have to figure how to pin stuff for quicker access.

Got one. Play or Scalp price?

heaven or hell decide now!

Xbox One Sells Through More Than 2 Million Units in 18 Days

What with the higher price point, weaker hardware, & all the negative bad press leading up to launch, I commend MS for being able to sell so many consoles. It’s not a guarantee of long-term success (WiiU sold well at launch, though I doubt MS will see a drought of games like Nintendo did), but the Xbox’s future is looking a little brighter.

Spoiler

Cue the Sony Defense Force coming here to post PS4 sales in comparison

Surprised Hectom hasn’t Flagged or Disagreed with the above post.

Very underwhelming so far.

Hooked it up, bought KI Ultra…went back to playing GTA5. Shit like GTA5 really takes away from the new systems. There is nothing for either half as good as GTA. Selling on CL for retail, or taking it back. I bought Forza 5 but its unopened so thats def getting returned.

Also I hooked the 360 into it as the input, and 1. it lags like fuck, and 2, you cant record from the input so thats pretty useless.

Makes sense actually, their previous system being the majority-owned means there’s more than enough people willing to pay that extra $100 to stay in MS’s ecosystem (Achievements, Gamerscores, etc).

Then of course there’s the huge marketing campaign, no way Sony is going to outspend MS in that area alone. Target, Wal-Mart, Toys’r’us and almost every major retailer will be overselling the XB1 in commercials. MS is already collaborating with Doritos/Dew and McDonalds for XB1 contests to get a few consoles in households for some positive word-of-mouth. Then there’s hiring celebrities to promote XB1in their personal adverts and sponsoring TV shows for XB1 product placements.

If your product’s price is higher than competition, then advertise at least twice as hard to increase brand awareness and possible demand. This isn’t exactly a new thing, but MS will do it better than anyone besides Apple (and maybe Samsung).

Honestly, I don’t think ‘spending’ has much to do with it. I also don’t think (in this instance) that there was much with regards to the M$ ecosystem (though as someone in the Apple Walled Garden, I can certainly appreciate the angle). I think it comes down to

  1. It was on shelves.
  2. At a $400 price point “another $100” is NOT as huge a leap as people act like it is. The relative price difference is only 1.25x ~ so those screaming about the price differential are just a bit off base (not completely - but a bit)
  3. Sorry its truth - M$ was better at launch…it has pretty much everything of value on the PS4 AND more.

So I mean it does make sense, but I’m also not hung up too much on it. Through the holidays both systems will stay sold out - and can look that way artificially by shipment distribution. The Wii was hard as hell to get up to 6 months after release. For the numbers to mean something then the sells would have to start to lap the competition (like they did the Wii U). What the 360 did was impressive, it pretty much owned up once the Wii started to fade with the PS3 only shining with the release of the GTAV bundle. When one company no longer reports its units, THAT’s when the sales are lopsided.

Right now both companies are still standing infront of a mutual female friend with their dicks out asking her who’s is bigger.

ms just announced they sold 909k units in US in november (NPD sales numbers is out today). so i really am not sure about that 2 million number as of this week.

that’s expecting +1 week of extra sales + international, and that’s expecting a lot from foreign territories. so international launch + 1 extra week of sales + 909k november US sales = 2 million. it seems extremely disproportionate at a glance to me.

They just announced the 2 mil figure yesterday which most likely includes the first 10 days of december as well. I dont think 2mil is far off at all WW all things considered.

yeah, i wouldn’t think it would be too far off, but i think 2 million is too round of a number a day before npd sales. especially if you are clarifying that as sell through (to consumers).

This 2014 lineup looks promising…

Strider HD Feb 22nd
Ninja Gaiden Z March 4th
Titanfall March 11th(and Dark Souls II hitting on 360 same day)
Metal Gear Solid Ground Zero March 18th

I just want to see what kind of videos Blackbuster is doing now. After all of that trolling and the One is near 2 million deep in before a month? Looking like the PS3 all over again. Get all kinds of shit for not being “gamer friendly” enough, turn things around and now you’re one of the big boys again. I play pretty much all digital games and am always near internet access, but it’s good to see that Microsoft was able to figure that they need to cater to all types of gamers and not just the ones with constant internet access. I’m sure they’ll figure out some less big brother method to deal with games being resold etc. Not surprised at all that this is Microsoft’s biggest launch ever despite all of the doom and gloom about the system being a huge loss for the company and how nobody wants to buy the spy system and such.

Plus it’s got what is going to be the biggest US fighting game in the community for a long while. Can’t wait for the future for this system. The online in KI is incredible and I’m sure those dedicated servers will make Titanfall godlike online. I’ll be getting a PS4 in the near future also.

Sony and Microsoft are just too much of gaming giants at this point to go down to ever go down at this point. They are here to stay forever until the google stream system takes them all out or whatever the fuck.

Following up on the slow game installs… this shit is gross.

http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2013/11/28/game-install-times-on-xbox-one-ps4-compared/

NFS Rivals… 9 minutes on X1 compared to 32 seconds on PS4, and it doesn’t get any better for any other cross platform game. Hopefully MSFT improves this over time.

Cosidering both companies also touted their games should have little to no load times, its not looking great on that front so far. Is there still signifcant load times on PS4 games?
