No way in hell are people going to refer to new KI players as 13ers
Searched high and low for one today.
Waste of time.
Obviously.
I say it’ll work for a week before people get tired of it.
Wait…I know the game is cool and all but…wait…what?

So Xbone is applying a “sharpening” effect on games that aren’t 1080p due to its upscaler.
It seems very hit and miss depending on who I talk to. Some don’t notice it, most don’t give it shit, and a select few are pissed off about it.

Rich went through 2 Xbones, and now hes done with them for now.
So far, I’m honestly happier than I anticipated. I’ve got a ton of work to do at work so I’ll keep it brief.
for games I bought it FOR Killer Instinct, but due to my son, I ended up getting Lego Marvel, and due to a sale at TRU I also got Dead Rising 3 (only cost me $9). On the game front, KI is exactly what I was hoping for. It’s going to be interesting to see how it scales overtime. It plays fast as hell to me right now. so combobreaking is still mostly a ‘guess’ - here is where the small cast is actually good for me haha. Lego MArvel looks great, but the particle effects for Sandman made me think of Knack - in a good way. I havne’t opened DR3 and more than likely won’t for a long while. I still havne’t beat the prelude to DR2, let laone played thru my copy of the game and the DLC. My son seems ‘fine’ with zombies right now, so I’m more than likely going to get back into it this weekend. I just didn’t want to deal with nightmares.
All the comments about the consoles size seem WAY overblown. It could be because I’m always so worried about heat so I give each console it’s own ‘shelf’ to ‘breathe’ on, but niccas had me thinking I was putting in a second receiver or something, but it just looked like its an inch bigger than my 360. What caught me off guard though was that for all the talk I read about it being quiet, I REALLY didn’t grasp how quiet it is. It REALLY sits there like a second cable box - at least with the games and activities I’ve thrown at it.
I actually don’t like the controller at all, the one thing they changed that was ‘good’ was relocating the ‘Home’ button to be higher. Everything else about the controller was a step backwords so far. Yes I’m saying this as someone with huge hands, so my perspective is skewed, but I REALLY wish I could use my old 360 controller right now.
I am not ‘in love’ with the interface, but that’s because I haven’t done any level of customization to it, no pins or anything, so it just seems a little random to me, bbut the integration with Netflix and the such works real well.
That leads me to the big surprise. Leading up to launch, I didn’t give two shits about the home theater integration. I didn’t give two shits about running cable through it. Now that I’ve actually used it though, my logitech universal remote is just about dead to me. I still have some setting up to do, I just did a quick run through so we could watch TV last night, but wow…it really works.
Going back to the hardware issues, maybe I should revise my statement about the PS4s, because I think it was misconstrued a bit - I don’t want failure on that side, I really don’t, but ask anyone who’s seriously thought about getting an XB1 about how much shit they’ve taken from people - especially on this forum. You can check this thread and note that the majority if not a major portion - is simply justification for purchase as daily people seem to have something to say. People got so enamored with trying to paint failure on the console that they acted as though the PS4 would be a perfect machine, a god send to home gaming. So watching the console have early hardware issues almost felt like karma. People quick to complain about the XB1 size, while ignoring the benefits (cooling and sound). The current issue at hand on the XB1 - while it sucks, it’s not a long running issue. It more than likely stems from Samsung having to shit out so many friggin drives - that the QC wasn’t sufficient. Looking at a tear down of the console, the innards are wonderfully simple and properly cooled. So it’s a problem that will vet itself before a revision is necessary - it really stems from trying to meet demand with sufficient supply. As for Sony’s issue, I sincerely can’t tell what’s driving that - if its more software than hardware or not shrug.

LOL. Well I guess the better game to relate it to would have been Skullgirls, but the idea is that fighting games need to stop doing the “semi sequel” crap. No semi sequels and because of the way the game works, just like League of Legends they won’t need to make a KI 2/4 2 years later. They can just keep the game under one title and the player can just purchase what parts of the game they want as time goes on. Capcom fighters have caught lots of fire for the semi sequel stuff and I’m glad they’re not going that route and allowing people who spend very little on the game still a chance to play with everyone else (like LoL). Especially since they’ve already got the basics covered like strong netcode and tutorials out the gate at launch, that should give it the foundation it needs so it can be a strong offline tournament title that’s still very viable to play online.
Oh and yeah, after all of the nay say and the discs getting eaten up, the Xbox One still has the most sales for an Xbox console ever. Once they got rid of the DRM and always online I knew they were pretty set and since KI is a digital title any ways that I’m going to regularly be playing online, it doesn’t really feel any different to begin with. I’m glad for those that fought to keep offline play a reality though since that will be very important for tournaments and for those that play in areas where there is no internet.
Now that my vacation has started I was finally able to spend some real time on my One last night.
My system is so far so good as far as the known hardware issues go. I don’t have an actual Xbox One game disc to test since right now I only own Killer Instinct and Crimson Dragon, but blu-ray discs play fine so I suppose the disc drive okay.
First, as a collector’s of all tings videogame related, I have to comment on the box/packaging for the day one edition: It’s one of the best there’s ever been. They really made it quite nice. It would have been smart of Microsoft to make this the standard box as it’s much more attractive than what is currently.
The console itself isn’t quite as big as I thought it would be. It still has some size to it but I don’t hate it. I like the design of it much better in person than I did looking at pictures and videos. Again, though, I think it was an ass-backwards decision to make black the standard color. That rare white Xbox One looks great, and white really compliments the console’s design much more than the black does.
I actually like the controller better than that of the 360’s overall, and that was a great pad. My only complaint would be what other people have posted about the bumper buttons but I can live with it. Some grip on the handle areas would’ve been nice, too. But I like triggers as well as the rumble in them. I like the new texture of the analog sticks, though it is a little rough on the thumb using it for Killer Instinct. I would be using the D-Pad for that but it’s just a bit too small for my tastes, for fighting games mind you. That’ll become an irrelevant issue once I get my KI TE2 stick, however, and this D-Pad is still far superior to the one on the 360 controller. I think I’ll like it fine for anything but fighters.
The UI isn’t terrible in my opinion but I don’t love it, either. I think it needs some work. I guess it should be noted that this is my opinion of it without having taken the time to fully familiarize myself with all of the voice commands. I do like being able to pin things and change the color scheme, though. I’m not going do too much complaining about the UI until I give the voice command navigation a good try, since that’s the way it’s meant to be used.
I’m having an amazing amount of fun playing Killer Instinct. I knew I would enjoy the game but didn’t think it would be to this extent - I am loving this game. Great soundtrack, fun combos, nice backgrounds with awesome weather effects… I’m enjoying it so much I even went ahead and bought the Ultra Edition. Playing Killer Instinct Classic, which came with the Ultra Edition, is a nice throwback, too.
So far I’m pleased with Crimson Dragon but I haven’t spent an incredible amount of time with it like I plan on doing. As I’ve said before I’m nothing if not a diehard Panzer Dragoon fan, and with that I can already deduce that this could have been a better game based solely off of the few hours I played of it last night. My biggest gripe already would be the lack of that old 90 degree quick-turn; It’s definitely still needed. You can tell they put a good effort into trying to let the camera guide you to where you need to be facing but, at times, it whips you around to a position that you simply don’t need to be in and by the time you get to where you do, you’ve already taken one if not multiple hits. It’s probably fine for a casual playthough, but for a game that encourages you to grind out levels and perfect stages for higher rankings and bonuses it’s somewhat frustrating, especially for someone such as myself who wouldn’t even think of playing on any mode but Classic. I’d be extremely happy if they could just patch-in that 90 degree turn. There are things to love about the game, though. It definitely feels like Panzer Dragoon. It’s new, it’s HD, but at the same time it feels retro (in a good way) and that’s because they stayed true to the art direction and level design of the older games. The music is also classic Panzer and overall a really good soundtrack if you’re a fan of the series’ music; It’s up there with the best of them. There’s definitely some beautiful environments to be seen even if they’re not cutting-edge next-gen. You might have to be a fan to enjoy them as much as I do but in my opinion some of them are quite breathtaking. Actually, I’m gonna go out on a limb and make a far-to-soon judgement call: I think you probably have to be a hardcore fan to enjoy this game much at all. The way I see it so far is that some aspects of it can be enjoyable if you’re really into Panzer Dragoon, but even then it’s basically only going to stave off your hunger for another really good game in the series. It’s much more of an edible appetizer than a delicious main course. I know, shame on me for saying so after only playing 4 or 5 hours of the game, but I sincerely think that’s how it’s going to turn out. I’m not severely disappointed, though, it’s already worth the $20 I paid for sure.
I was impressed with the packaging as well and they carried the motif over to buying like an extra controller.
I can’t agree on the white console though. The white XB1 looks great, but as the consoles have joined home theater equipment and the such - I ONLY want them in black to blend in with the other equipment.

Is there a checkoff list on known problems for the Xboxone console?
My only problem is that i had huge scratch & saw some video on this thread of loud drives that wont read disc. any others?
I would like to note the only reason why i bought an xbox one is to have the original Killer Instinct haha…I only tried it for a few minutes & works great but the new KI is really fun I’ve only been using the controller surprisingly it has worked fine for me & i loathe pad fighting. Anyway, player 1 is ready to go & now just got player 2 to do.

So I was able to use my Xbox one for maybe two hours. After a bit of KI, I tried playing Lego Marvel (via disc), and then Forza (disc). No games will load for me now, and this includes downloads. I get sent back to the dashboard every time I try to load a game.
Fast forward to now, and neither of my controllers will sync. I can still navigate with the Kinnect but the sync button on the XBone does pretty much nothing for me. I would really like to hope that its just an oversight on my part, but it seems this thing has been junk from the jump.
Please tell me I’m just missing a dumb feature
EDIT So apparently I can’t get my controllers working while the Kinnect is plugged in. I restarted the system without it and they work, and won’t work while it is operational. Now to figure out how to play a game…
Should have killed X when you had your chance.

i hope this isn’t true.
Word is that swearing in content that you post to Upload Studio will get you banned from Live, which you need for Skype. So no, just swearing in private convos across Skype won’t get you in trouble.
That half sentence is godlike though
so if you get banned from live, all the stuff from gold gets shutdown for you? so no viewing videos, no watching live tv, no skyping with your friends… that seems kinda fucked up, considering how much they hide behind that subscription.

everyone add me - Monkey King X
help me make this console fun LOL
Added you.
I recently made all new gamertags so if any of you guys were on my old friends, feel free to add me back… or even if you weren’t, doesn’t matter. Gamertag: Mr Buster Wolf
They need to allow everyone who bought a One to redo their XBL GT for free, I want to change to Unreall_SRK or SRK_Unreall, but I’m not trying to pay what wsa it 8 or 9 bones for it…not that serious.

Yeah, that’s why I just made a new one. Especially since nothing I bought on 360 is backwards compatible on One.
