You guys can say what you want about Xbox/MS, this is a very generous gesture. Sure you can’t play any disc-based games until MS sends you a replacement console, but they give you a free download of a fully-featured game ('cept Ryse rimshot) to enjoy in the meantime. Only after the replacement arrives do you need to pack up & send out your faulty system.
The FGC gonna pay 10+ bucks for cosmetic upgrades? Bum ass dudes can’t even front the cash on time for floor space in someone’s hotel room for a major half the time you tryna tell me they gonna give up LEAGUE OF LEGENDS money? Nahhhhhh B.
No battery indicator to see how much life your controller has.
Party chat got nerfed. Had friends playing Dead Rising 3 and I tried to play a ranked match of Killer Instinct. The game told me to quit chat or force the Dead Rising 3 players to enter KI. WUT?
No recent players list. Reputation is useless if you can’t look up recent players and send rep or messages.
You cannot send voice messages to friends, only text. Wut???
Facebook integration linked to achievements and such have been scrapped.
I thought we supposed to add new features to the Next Gen, not take good solid ones away. Wtf man?
I talked about the party chat issue in depth a while back. It’s probably not reasonable to expect this to be fixed for the first gen of games on xbone. Its a huge fundamental issue that goes beyond party chat into almost everything online with the system.
Those replacement consoles better be brand new systems and not refurbished units. They pulled that shit with me with the 360. Brand new 360 RRoD, sent it back, got a refurb with a 3 year old manufactured date with a disc drive that burned out in 2 months. If I had a busted XB1, I’d take it back to the store.
Good Lord the servers on BF4 are TERRIBLE. No lag at all but goodness gracious, it is very difficult to actually get into a game. And if you do, there is a 25% chance you randomly get kicked to the dashboard.
So far mine console seems to be working pretty good and straight forward. One issue i do have is, did the controller get smaller or did they space the dpad and sticks closer? Not digging the smooth design either. Makes the controller feel slippery.
Wonder if Kinect can detect you throwing the controller at it.
Good thing I don’t care about FIFA. That kind of feature may be cute the first time you see it, but fuck if I want my games chastising me when I’m already frustrated.
they want manufacturing +shipping < system cost + 1 accessory profit + 1 game profit.
the system + kinect to make and ship probably still cost a little less (if not a little bit more) per system. you need the price of the system to be rounded and as low as you can possibly get it, so you need to find your profit margins elsewhere.
accessories are the lifeblood of the retail market. no one makes good money off of systems: retailers or console companies. profit margin is usually small for the retailer, and its almost always at a loss for the manufacturer. but if you can get people to buy your system, you can offset everything else with huge markups on stuff they will want to accompany their system to get the most out of it.
Yeah I know, I used to deal in accessories when I workede at BB (twice actually). I just didn’t realize the markup on the controllers were THAT high. I thought they were like 30-40.
its pretty nuts how low they can get down the costs on these things. once they have the molds for the pieces, chinese labor ain’t shit and plastic is cheaper than water.
imagine how much money activision made with guitar hero. those years, they were renting out staples and throwing their own event at e3. it was pretty sickening to see them rolling in money like that.
