You need to clean up around Parasoul better, that white outline around her will only look worse once its full size printed out. Also those narrow film frames in between the regular ones bother me because film wouldn’t be like that, but thats just me. The 2nd one with the image blown up will also look really bad printed full size. Stick with that 1st one or find a larger pic or some other SG art.
That’s actually really fucking sick, who do you plan on using that for? Cause I would definitely use it!
the absolute hands down best (read: correct) way to do this is by using vectors in illustrator instead of photoshop. if you dont want to do it that way, the radius idea is the next best thing.
also i know some templates actually come with center holes for refrence but before they did i used to made them.
what i do is highlight and fill the circle area (in black) like previously mentioned but instead of using an outer stroke to make an outline, i would make an inner stroke (white) till there was a tiny circle/pixels left within each hole area. you could then just erase the white outline if you wanted or ignore it.
as far as getting all the circles the same size, thats another issue. i usually just copy/paste whatever shape i use (or if its particularly useful/difficult i turnit into a brush, but that has other issues.) and eyeball it. if you arent good at that i wouldnt recommend it though. i notice alot of people with off-center designs on the ‘check out my arcade stick’ forum, and eyeballing stuff like that should be avoided if possible.
Okay, I threw on some rounded corners as Lord British suggested. They’re a bit subtle though, but hopefully they add to the template.
The colors are still busy though and I’m not sure yet what I should add to the middle. Maybe just some text or something?
I’m a little OCD so it bugs me that the images aren’t centred (there’s more black on the left than on the right) and that the space at the top and bottom aren’t the same as on the sides. Nitpicking I know, but it’s the kind of thing that catches my eye.
For the centre, it could look interesting if you cut a hole in the art down the middle with the same rounded corners and spacing as the pictures. This only works if your wiring is nice to look at though haha.
Yeah, I just threw it on there and was lazy and didn’t check it.
But that brings me to a question I’ve been wanting to ask. How does everyone center things on these templates? I’ve recently installed the Guide Guide extension and that’s helped, but I’m curious what everyone else uses.
This will be my first wiring job, so I doubt it will look nice. XD I’m not even sure where to get those sleeves for all of the wire. I know where to get some plastic ones, but you have to heat those up first so they shrink.
I might try adding a logo or something and seeing how that works out.
Congrats to DKor for winning my little competition. Participation wasn’t exactly what i hoped but I realize that not a lot of people know about shin chan and I am still a relatively new member so I might have not been taken seriously. Either ways he did give me the perfect idea to finish my stick and not make it look so bland.
Thanks so much, Cloud. Can’t wait to see the finished stick.
Hey D3V how do you go about adding Ps3 button labels to your arcade stick? And making ones that look real school (unique to the stick)?
Alright, so I think I’m almost done with this artwork. I’d like to get opinions on the overlay I have on Ibuki and Dudley currently. I also changed the background to a different pattern which I’m liking a lot more than the previous one.
Edit: Darkened up the silhouettes.

What color is your stick/buttons? Reason I ask is that is reeeeeaallly subtle… which if you’re going for that, more power too ya; but the person next to you is going to see a “blue” top to your stick. There’s not a lot of definition to it. I would suggest a good contrasting color, like a strong (but not neon) orange or something along that line… or just make sure your buttons aren’t black or a clashing blue.

Working on this for a friend of mine:

Peace everybody. I have a question regarding putting custom artwork on an MDF control panel. But first, I want to let you all know what I’m planning:
I’ll be building my very first homemade fightstick. It’ll be a PS2 fighstick (that can be used on the PC, PS3 and Xbox via adapters). I ordered a red Seimitsu LS-58-01 joystick, 6 red Seimitsu PS14 KN 30mm Buttons, 2 smoke Seimitsu PS14 KN 30mm buttons, and 2 clear Seimitsu PS14 DNK 24mm buttons (for start/select, wont show up on the control panel itself but on one of the sides). I’ should be getting them in the mail tomorrow. I already have some spare MDF to build the box and a space PSX solderless PCB to work with. I intend for the box to be larger than the paper itself, say 10.5 in. x 13 in. x 4 in. Now let me back on topic…
When I’m set to build the MDF control panel top (during the process of building the box), I want to apply this artwork (I colored the button on the design to show an ideal example of how my fightstick will look like):

Here’s the sheet of paper I printed out that I want to apply on the MDF:

How can I do this? Lamination or something? Please forgive my ignorance.
- GTA
You can do 1 out of 2 things:
- Laminate and stick it on with some sort of adhesive
- Get a plexi cut and sandwich the art.
But I believe that this is the wrong thread for that.
Back on topic, your button positioning looks really haphazard on the artwork; Akuma’s face is obscured by 2 buttons…
Whipped this up in 5 or so seconds from a rough idea I had for my Eightarc Fusion.

I’m planning on changing it, but I just wanted to see what people think of it so far
The Problem with lamination is when you go to cut the holes you will more than likely break the seal and once you break the seal on any part of the lamination its ruined cause air pockets start to form and they will just get bigger over time. Your best bet is to go with the plexi and sandwich it in on the stick.
I think of watermelons.
I second that. damn now i want watermelon.
I started making a Ms. Fortune themed skin but due to a severe lack of art and a giant abundance of awesome radiating from Peacock I ended up making a Peacock themed skin for my Qanba Q4raf.

I think I did good for have zero photoshop knowledge. Only thing I’d like to do it add a border around the buttons but it’s currently 2:30am and I’m to tired to try and learn how to do something like that right now. zzzzzz…
