-The New Martial Arts Movie Thread-

Ah! But he didn’t die “fighting” North Beggar. He died laughing with North Beggar moments after North Beggar admitted defeat after Poison Feng figured out the counter to his Ultimate Beggar Stick Hyper.

This shit made me LOL hard. Because all of it was SO true. All of Jing Guo’s men were full of suck, but when Jing entered the field, he gave all of them a +5 in all their stats.

WHAAAAAT?! What you know about Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre? I actually read the manga of HSDS.

Hold up. Ying Yang finger was made to counter his Toad kungfu. Not his Poison. Only dude who could counter poison was Yang Guo because he became immune.

However, I do know you’re right about Central Divinity forcing Ouyang Feng into seclusion.

Poison Feng was at least the most dangerous, imo. Like I said, nigga was a kungfu genius.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

After Wang Chongyang died, the best of 5 had to be the Ouyang Feng. I don’t know how the battle of the 5 Masters went though. Nobody knows who was 2nd or 3rd or whatever, but I’m pretty sure it had to be Ouyang. Nobody could stop poison in LOCH or ROCH or most of the wuxia novels unless you were somehow immune. I mean… look how long Gugu was screwed over when she went into that poison forest. There was thought to be no cure and that’s one of the reasons she “committed suicide”. And Li Mouchou’s poison was thought to be the most deadliest as well.

Legend of Condor Heroes, Return of Condor Heroes, and Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre are known as the Condor Trilogy. They’ve been adapted as movies, manga, anime, tv series, and I believe some videogames but it was 1st and foremost a manhua (which is basically a chinese comic book). LOCH/ROCH is a super famous manhua and the basis of many manhuas after it, with many of the kungfu styles created in those 3 books being adapted and tweaked in many other manhuas.

For example, the Nine Yin scroll has been adapted to Nine Suns kungfu in Oriental Heroes/Dragon Tiger Gate.
Dragon Slaying Palms has been used in a stupid number of manhuas and movies.
The Toad style was used most recently in Kungfu Hustle.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

My favorites were the ones created by Tony Wong with my favorite of them being Drunken Fist. The main villian is that is the guy my forum name is based on.

Yea you’re right he did figure out how to counter dog beating stick, but at that point both of them were toast.

I know all 15 novels not just the trilogy.

You’re right Yin Yang finger was to counter his toad kungfu I was just typing and didn’t check it, but you got what I meant.

She did find a cure in passionless valley, just one of the cure was lost in battle and the monk that was trying to come up with the cure died. Leaving only 1 bean (or whatever the fuck it was) and they tricked Yang Guo to take it.

It was Huang Rong who did the ultimate mind fuck telling her she be better off jumping off a cliff.

Poison Feng’s own ambition kind of fucked him up when Huang Rong gave him the fake 9 Yin though. I can see your point why he would be the strongest after Wang, but I like my chances with any of the other 3. Monk/Emp got the finger, Northern Begger got them fucking dragons, and Eastern Heretic has smarts.

Really on any given day any of those 4 could beat the other guy.

Also most of the Chinese influence MMORPG are based off these novels.

Like 9 dragons, Jade Dynasty and all the other shit. I’m sure Silkroad has some influence by these novels and so with every other MMORPG that has anything Asian related.

Thread title indicates that we should be talking about movies, but I want to recommend

It is far and away the most readable translation of a wuxia novel (that I’ve seen) on the web. Unlike most fan translations, it’s also complete.

Most of these novels have made into a movie at one point or another. Some of them absolutely suck, but still their movies.

Is X-Men a movie or a comic or a video game? There X-men movies, games, and comic so you decided. These novels are the same.

return of chen zhen? i just watched that and thought it was boring as hell. the political undertones felt so forced and overblown just for the sake of making the movie stylized, and it came off as lame to me. the weird batman-style shots when he was in the costume were awkward, too. the quality of the action scenes was great but there wasn’t enough fighting so overall i guess you could say the main problem here was the lack of pacing. i liked ip man 1 and 2 a lot more.

edit: but in all fairness, the subs weren’t that great so maybe that’s another reason why i wasn’t that into it.

Fucking yes on all the Jin Yong commentary here, guy is awesome though I haven’t read any of the acutal novels yet, are you guys familiar with any other wuxia artists besides Jin(admittedly he’s the biggest)

and considering a lot of these movies take from the novels(not just jin yong, but the entire genre of wuxia fiction) I think its fair game

I know some of Gu Long’s stuff, but not as in depth as Jin Yong’s stuff.

I watched this Gulong mini series when I was a kid

Juedai Shuangjiao - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

hilariously entertaining from what I remember

I’m sure its also been remade too many times for its own good

This movie looks really cool and the chick is hot.

She’s aiite. Seen her in person once, but that was before she was famous so probably didn’t have as good of makeup artist as she has now.

Great figure for an Asian women though I think she’s like 5’7.

I’ll keep an eye out for it next time I’m on ppstream.

Saw Merentau on netflix, and as predictable as it was it was still good and gritty especially for a contemporay fight flick.

Got two more flicks ready to post, but gonna put them up later.

watched that bay rong movie although the title I got had it called flash. fighting and acting were decent. story was meh but better than Tony jaa movies. I’m usually very irritated by people speaking Vietnamese as it is a very shrill high pitched language but it didn’t bother me in this movie.
7.5/10 I had seen the trailer for it before but had no interest in watching it. thanks to whoever recommended it.

Life Gamble has just about every Venom in it, check it out for all the mayhem. Martial Club stars Gordon Lui as Wong Fei Hung trying to perpetrate.

Let me know what ya’ll think.

The Lost Bladesman - Singapore | Facebook the lost bladesman starring donny yen as Guan yu !

Those are two awesome uploads…

Martial Club - Gordon Liu vs Wang Lung Wei is probably one of the greatest fight scene you will ever see in MA history…There was a similar fight w/ Donnie Yen in the Seven Swords…

Life Gamble was pretty damn sweet. Lots of shit going on w/ betrayals…All Venoms full effect!

Donnie Yen as Guan Yu? He needs to gain some weight and I don’t know maybe a few inches?

Alex Fong as Liu Bei? Ugh I guess that can work…

P.S Looking at the IMDB for Donnie Yen, dudes doing the Monkey King?
:wow:

A little thin, but this actually looks pretty good.

Damn snitches got me caught again. Sorry ya’ll but the links are down. DOES ANYONE KNOW A BETTER SITE TO UPLOAD THIS SHIT TO?

Yep, links still down. Sorry, won’t be up until I find a better spot to put them at.

Anyway, whats new that looks good? I fucked around and watched Red Cliff again and forgot how fucking long it is.
