Anyone here familiar with Korean martial arts movies/literature? Trying to see if anyone can explain to me what 환골탈태(Hwan Gol Tal Tae) is?

Has anybody seen that new Turpin kenshin movie? I’m supposed to get it soon. My sis swears by it.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

Just tell me if you like it or not. No spoilers or I’ll kill you.

Not sure what that is at all.

Which one is that? That weak ass live action movie?

Idky it said Turpin instead of ruroni. Wth.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

Ruroni kenshin. That’s what I was trying to type.

Hrmm if it’s the live action kenshin, then you’ll enjoy the fights. there’s a few but some stand out more than the others. Now Grandmasters on the other hand, nice good fights though some are a bit short, I’ll say nothing more.

Lol, those fights are lackluster to anyone that is a fan of real swordplay and martial arts movies. There are some cool things but nothing even close to the level of the cartoon. The ova did it the best imo.

Movie was Japanese actors overacting as usual and trying way to hard to roll their tongue in every fucking scene.

In comparison to wuxia films of course it’s not as great (ie hero) but the fight that stood out to me the most was the final. that was great. I like both however you can’t compare anime with live action.

Anyone seen “Kill’em all”?

Despite the stupid, uninspired title, and rough around the edges moments---- this one was pretty decent! Its on netflix streaming btw.

The main lead chick was pretty hot too.

is IP man any good? Is it like SF or MK?

The first IP Man was decent/good. Kinda cheesey though with your typical, broken “Mr. Perfect” unbeatable master trope. Seemed to have a respectable story/plot, but it was hard to tell what direction they were going with it. As in, was it meant to be a “legit” period piece type movie or just an action flick?

And then IP Man 2…a utterly shameless Rocky IV rip-off. Wow. Our Mr. Perfect martial arts master is suddenly beatable at least.

Both are entertaining with neat fight scenes i guess and worth checking out for what they are. They’re on netflix streaming.

Ip man 3 is best eye pee man.

They’re making an IP Man 3? Yeesh my hopes aren’t too high then.

If the past two are any indication, only the first of the trilogy will be respectable. While the other two are generic action fare. Whether they succeed in that regard is yet to be seen. Its possible i might revisit part 2 and gain a deeper appreciation for it, but i’m skeptical.

That last fight with the boxer was over embellished ridiculousness. The actor they used was only 5’11", but they played him off like he was some Hulk who could near over-power IP Man with just his size & brute strength.

It’s more like a prequel.

I think that actual Donnie Yen Ip man 3 is gonna be in 3d.

Ammara Siripong is mai waifu.

What’s up with tom yun goong 2??

Ip Man 3D will begin filming this summer. There’s also a possibility of an IP Man musical in the works as well.

And in case you guys haven’t heard, another IP Man film got leaked online couple of days ago. But, no English subtitles attached to it:
