-The New Martial Arts Movie Thread-

that’s cool. Nice to know there’s a fellow wing chun practisionist. I train under my dad and will continue training under a new Sifu soon, though I’m already starting to do Judo and Atkido. How long you been doing Wing Chun then?

Yeah 2 was pretty good. Those who haven’t seen its available at Neflix right now for streaming…

Anyone watched Warrior?

Looks interesting, might give it a watch if it’s ever shown over here.

Gonna find a place to upload Wuxia for ya’ll. If you got a site that will let me upload a gig and a 1/2 movie that would be great.

Its funny cause i didn’t get into Donnie Yen until I saw him in Highlander Endgame. He really should’ve been the main bad guy instead of Bruce Payne. He was the only competent one out of the group that was legit. I saw some of his old stuff like Tiger Cage 2 and loved it. Kinda good that he didn’t blow up in America like Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

Have you tried dropbox.com? They give you 2 GB for free. Here’s a link: http://db.tt/UlCQwReg

Yeah Donnie Yen was Yuen Woo Pings boy, too bad they had a falling out…Donnie ended up making a lot of low budget B films during the] 90s…It was pretty sad, then he tried going to the US & that fool was so under used, he ended up coming back to HK where he got his break with Hero…Then Sha Po Lang, rejuvenated his career…

I’m surprised IP Man hasn’t caught the attention of someone in Hollywood to get him to come back and do another movie here.

i believe he was offered to come back but he said no…He wanted to stay to keep hk cinema going…

He’s not a teenage heart throb that’s why
Maybe Expendables 3

I finally saw Legend Is Born, and it was amazing, taught me a bit more about wing chun and Dennis To was awesome, so was Si Gong Ip Chun

Cool, I’ll try that and let ya’ll know when I am done.

Post that shit ASAP, this looks like one of the better Donnie Yen movies in a long ass time…Is it good quality?

pm me if you want a link

Hey angelpalm thanks for the link…Finally watched Wuxia…Damn this movie was pretty damn good until the ending, WTF…Seriously, i was like this is going to be classic, there is no way they can fuck this up…But damn, that ending fucked up this masterpiece…

Horrible acting & fuck you Odin…I demand a redo in the ending…

I watched The Prodigal Son today, good movie, I saw it was already mentioned here…
Warriors Two is something I’m coming up on, as is Legendary Weapons of China and Mystery of Chessboxing.

I was really impressed by the skill in the double broadswords in the intro of 36th Chamber of Shaolin… you guys know any other films that feature the twin broadswords prominently? Much appreciated. Plus, who was the martial artist playing the Wu Tang swordsman in that intro?
If you guys also know any films featuring the kwan dao I’d like to hear about them as well.

speaking of martial arts… I stumbled across a movie on netflix called Shaolin Vs Evil Dead. sorry guys, this is NOT the chop socky that you seek. Watch it for the halloween lolz, then scram.

-Starhammer-

Im not really familiar with the names of the weapons being used but here are some of the best Kung Fu weapons films to watch…

1)Shaolin Challenges Ninja a.k.a. Heroes of the East, probably in my top 5 fav kung fu of all time…Lots of cool weapons include 3 sectional nunchucks, Gordon Liu is fucking bad ass in this, plus he has hair haha

  1. Odd Couple - Lar Kar Leung & Sammo, shit is probably one of the best choreoraph weapons fights you will see…A lot of bad comedy in this one though

  2. Legendary Weapons of China a.k.a 18 weapons of kungfu - They use like 18 different weapons im sure whatever you are looking for is in this…

  3. Blade of Fury - Epic fight ending, lots of weapons fighting im pretty sure you will enjoy

  4. Last Hurrah of Chivalry - Probably my fav swordplay film, can watch this movie over in over…John Woo directed this back in the day

There were a lot of great weapon base kung fu films back w/ Shaw Bros, especially films by Chang Cheh…Shaolin Temple movies w/ Jet Li has some, also check out some Ti Lung films…Of course ill always rep my boy Sammo

Making an attempt to up Reign of Assassains and that Bangkok Knockout. Also d/l The Sorcerer and the Whitesnake. Will up that as well. Wanted to get some cheesy horror flicks but we will see.

Ps: Eva Huang could get the dragon staff, ya know what I mean.

Just got hold of the Mr Vampire set including the TV series. It’s going to be a Lam Ching-Ying overdose!
