The NEW King of Fighters XI Compendium Thread

Well there may be a distinction of KOFXI players at EVO…from what I hear…the “has-beens” and the ones still playing…because I get word from a lot of birds lately…and some of the big names at AI have stopped playing KOFXI in favor of 98UM, XII and 2k2UM though a lot of those that play 98UM and 2k2UM aren’t playing KOFXII.

Thats sad but it bodes well for those that have gotten like 15x better in KOFXI since the last EVO.

I got some match videos imma put up soon…just casual stuff

I’ve had this game for a while, but I’m just now getting back into it. I don’t have an arcade with XII nearby to even try it out.

I use Benimaru(L)/Ash/Athena.

And a quick question: are shoryukens not invincible in this game? I attempted to use Athena’s on wake-up, but I just get stuffed. I kind of suck at the dragon punch motions, so I just might not be doing it fast enough. Anyone know?

I don’t think Athena’s dp has any exploitable invincibility frames, so you’re gonna get stuffed almost every time. Athena doesn’t have a lot of wake-up options.

Roster is too fun in this game. I have like 9 characters I’m dancing with since I got the game not sure who I’m going to stick with.

On that note. What are the major differences between EX Kyo and Kyo, and what makes EX Kyo more superior?

^ Wisdom from Hatred Edge:

plus the fact that EX kyos j.E is an anywhere juggle

Ah, I see. Sad.

Thank you for you help. =]

Edit: Now I have a question about Ash: To do his super cancel on his flash kick, do you just have to do it extremely fast or is there a certain point you do it.

The combo I’m trying to do: Crouching B, link crouching Ax2, Nivose (B), SC, Bluvoise

The first part is easy, but I can’t hit that super cancel for anything. Anyway, I’m back off to training mode to see if I can figure it out.

For that one buffer frames will help you.
Instead of going from down to up, go from down to upforward then do another qcf+K fast and you should get the cancel.
It takes some getting used to if you wanna build it as a habit, and as with all buffered moves it has to be done quickly.
You can do it normally, but then you would need fast execution

I personally don’t do the Nivose at all and go straight for Bluvoise from cr.A.

the_judge: Thank you again. I’ll keep playing with it to see if I can get. I tried buffering it, but I still couldn’t get it. Oh well, I’ll keep at it. Also, why do you go straight for Bluvoise instead of using Nivose? I know the combo can be character specific unless you have them in a corner.

Indeed, and XI Kyo was still an AMAZING Kyo. Rekkas and Projectile really strengthened him up, they combined NGBC and XI Kyos, he would’ve been perfect and most likely broken as hell.

If buffering doesn’t work for you then just practice doing it normally till you can get it fast enough (lol, I mostly do it the normal way)
I go straight for Bluvoise for 3 reasons:
1.) I’d like to save the skill point for quick/save shifts
2.) I don’t think canceling Nivose adds significant damage that’s worth using a skill point
3.) I personally find it easier

If you play classic KOF style (play each character in order), then feel free to use it.
If you plan to play full on XI style (which involves strategic use of quick shifts and saving shifts) then you might want to save that skill point.

Okay, I know I’ve talked a gang of shit about him in the past, but oddly enough, Shingo if now officially on my team. I don’t know what happened, I played him at a rusty arcade and OCV’ed all the scrubs. So I’m stuck on Shingo/?/Ozzy(L)
I’m looking for someone who will setup my Ozzy 75% up easily, cause Shingo sets it up too easily.

Hold down while you do the c.B, c.A, c.A, then in a swift motion move d, df, f, uf, u+K, and then do the second qcf+K for the super cancel. I recommend going all the away to up instead of up forward. You can practice doing the cancel by itself, then from one c.A, and then the full thing. Yeah and saving your skill stocks for either quick shift combos or saving shift is usually a better idea than super cancels. I’m not sure if this works (I don’t play Ash, but you get the idea), but you could probably quick shift from the first hit of a D Nivose to another character to continue the combo (this way you get an extra jumpin combo and you can still use a super at the end for the same overall cost).

the_judge: Okay, that makes sense. I forgot all about the use of a skill point to do a super cancel. I’m just now learning KOFXI, but I’d like to play it to the fullest and make use of saving/quick shifts. I might work on it anyway just in case a situation arises where it could be beneficial, but I’ll try and find some quick shift combos.

Remxi: Thank you. I’ll try that out today when my friend comes up to play.

No. Good luck trying to parry all those moves. And no one does random DMs/LDMs anyway.

Not to mention you get chip damage while you parry. A smart player can screw with your parrying. People aren’t just going to easily get parried. They can mix/will you up.

How is Silver in tournament play?

I’ve been flirting with him in my 2nd group and he does monster damage for no combos, but is as slow as an 18 wheeler racing a corvette.

Can I get some tips for this team?
