I know this is true for a fact DC, look at Duo Lon Leader being tops now. That’s due to the Mexican Influence. Prior to people knowing about Taekua, Kane9999 and me bringing the Juarez style of play with Duo Lon Leader over here to the states, people were arguing with me about how powerful Duo Lon Leader is (People were adamantly proclaiming KGO run KOFXI due to THEIR IGNORANCE!). If the Mexican Influence never came into play, I fear everyone would be saying KGO runs KOFXI.
Ignorance is bliss, now this is not the case, the power of Duo Lon Leader has been clearly shown many many times, and in regards to ranking high, you pretty much see a Duo Lon Leader ranking high almost every tournament around here. People should acknowlegde that there is A POSSIBILITY that maybe they don’t know what they are talking about instead of brushing something off as not true. I remember those days like yesterday and will never forget them! So yes to me it’s all about exposure, so I am not gonna even begin to say I got KOFXI figured out, because there’s A LOT that I have not seen yet, but I hope to get a lot of that exposure on my damn near World Tour in 2010.
Um no. What im saying is you should take any advantage you can get for a win, whether that be with top tiers, gameplay style, abuse-able moves etc. Its pretty much up to the individual player to decide to pick them (top tiers) or take a slightly harder route and main characters that (on paper) have it tougher then other characters.
Usually mentally strong player have the ability to pick and use non high tier characters against other strong players, which is why they get noticed more then others. Example of that is the Seth player in the recent 2k2 vids posted in the other threads.
Interrupt it how you want, but that what i was trying to say. Influence would be another factor why players choose high tier where the phrase “cant beat them, join them” comes to mind.
u r right… and as much as it is boring to see top-tier whoring i can’t blame them because …if someone tells u hey i’ll give u $100 and u have 2 options… freeze outside in the cold for 1 hour with just a t-shirt or wearing a jacket which one would u pick? if u really want that $100 u r gonna take the easiest and most reliable way possible… y work 10 times harder when u can simply solve ur problems by a wise decision…
and this is why i hate playing with a tournament mentality… i play video games to have fun …not win money… i have a job that takes care of that… so specially when playing a fighting game my mentality is i’ll choose whoever i like look wise and play style wise… if i can’t win against a top-tier character then i just need to practice harder till i can… cause no match up is impossible…
ok now that ranting is done …we here in TO found a pretty cool factor in kula’s LDM… she can’t be beat out of it usually… but so far we got K’s and Adelheid’s and Silber’s LDMs to beat it consistently… and occasionally ryo’s LDM… so our logic is they have to make contact with the flying ghost and go through it during the start up to be able to hit kula out of it… but 1 thing breaks this logic …Silber can do his kick DM and hit her out of it… wtf?
The plan is to throw out random DM/LDM’s whereas everyone else is comboing into theirs? You’re going to waste two stocks in a match doing lolrandomLDMs?
Do you know WHY no one talks about what you’re talking about? Because everyone is comboing into theirs and only do it outside of combo as a means to punish something that left their opponent open and chip damage kill.
I would never expect a Kula player with half a brain to throw that out outside of the situations I mentioned above. Look at Iori players in 97/98. Using his DM how? AA, combos, and beating out an attack with it(risky but doable).
Alright Judge, these few situations you’re talking about… How often do they occur? I’d bet a lot less than Iori beating out jumpins in 97/98 at least.
1.) Gato does close st.C xx qcb+A, C. A grab that often catches people off guard, a LDM thrown out between will beat him. Same goes for and random qcb+A/B tactics Gato may throw out (it is recommended you have the LDM buffered)
2.) 2p Duck does a blockstring, cr.B, cr.A, B, f+C xx qcb+B xx dd, j.B. For 2p Duck, this string is quite nasty, and must be punished precisely, a well timed LDM will beat this.
3.) In the corner, another Kula does qcf+C, then hh.C. The timing is tight, but an LDM will kill her jump-in attempt
These are just a few situations I see commonly (I’m sure plenty of us have) where a well-timed LDM will beat a mixup attempt. I’m sure plenty of high level players try not to put themselves in such situations, but Kula’s LDM is exploitable in defensive situations (although a simple qcfx2+A might be safer if you are unsure about punishing with an LDM)
i think in this situation Clark can punish a blocked/whiffed LDM from kula the BEST… because it figures that any grabs will catch her after her block/whiff animation while she is still standing there like a deer in headlights… because at the worst other characters with a command grab or a grab DM can do about 15-30% while clark can do the same plus do his running DM if he is far or if he is leader he can take off 60%…
There was no way to move the old forum into the new one with the new format. There is no reason to name call. There are XI threads here in SRK, why dont you ask it here…
i wonna do a write-up on general character info and strategies on every character in xi… this is to hopefully make people play with more character variety or atleast shine some light on low tier characters… but i don’t know a lot on most of the cast… such as i have no idea what the hell venessa is doing most of the time… so if character experts could help me out here and pm me character infos that would be great…
Yes I do have a forum in the works…everything is almost finished…company logo is done, front page is done, and a lot of othe pages are done, finishing the forum.
sf4 is a copycat… first they make abel who has multiple kof features… then there is el fuerte who copies ramon’s forward & backwards run tactics + splash on the ground or wall… and today from messing around with ramon for a little while i figured that c. viper copied her double fierce punch combos from ramon as well… because ramon had it first… now then i know no one plays ramon in xi cause he is low tier… but if anyone is interested u will find that he is wayyy more complicated & heavy execution dependant than any other grappler in the history of kof… a few things that i haven’t seen anyone do…
s.C or cr.C xx hcb.C release instantly and hold forward hcb.C will result in a very fast walk in DM from a blocked attack
also can just do his command grab instead if no meter… this is hard to deal with specially after a cross-up considering ramon has soo many options from this cancel …such as
s.C or cr.C xx hcb.C ~ f.A the f.A will become an overhead attack
hop or jump C or D, s.C or cr.C xx hcb.C ~ cr.C, d/f.B xx qcb.A or qcb.hcf.B <— combo
s.C or cr.C xx qcb.C, cr.C xx hcf.B or fake the command run with xx qcb.C ~ ff
cr.C xx qcb.C, sweep or hyper hop…
oh and his qcb.B ~ E is unblockable… so good for wake up…
