The NEW King of Fighters XI Compendium Thread

Yessir. It’ll probably even have Smash and whatever games are featured at my events also like Pump it Up etc.

Yeah the moment I saw SF4 I knew they were getting some SNK treatment with some of their characters. Also on the contrary, Ramon isn’t low tier in KOFXI. Matter of fact you spoiled my fun…because guess what- I PLAY HIM. You will see in the videos from today between me and MightyMar and when I’m in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico next weekend for Super Bowl III me using Ramon…

Cool

well he does have one of the strongest command throws in the game… specially if u have either 1or 2 skill or super stock then the damage gets huge from hcf.E… a couple more things…

any of his close normals can be made perfectly safe and turned into pressure strings thanks to qcb.C cancel… such as

cr.A xx qcb.C, cr.D xx qcb.C, cr.D xx qcb.C …mix this double sweep trap into cr.A xx qcb.C, cr.D xx qcb.C, hop D …or just cr.D xx qcb.C, cr.D xx hcf.D or xx qcb.C ~ ff ~ hcf.E…

also a very good way to setup his unblockable… while u can do it right after a blocked jump in u can also do it from blocked cr.B xx qcb.B ~ E…

basically playing him is like constant micro management and pressure …someone should try out momoko too… her stomp game and strings r quite deadly… like B stomp x3 into B cross-up into s.A x2 xx super… or B stomp, D, s.D xx dp.D xx QS into anything that catches air like king’s rush super… we just need more people to open up their eyes and stop abusing top-tiers…

When this game first came out I was playing Momoko so I know what you’re talking about.

QFT… I started with Ash, Momoko, and K’ and knew something was wrong from the get-go…

If I’m correct, there are some old vids of DG on yt with Momoko/Malin/Athena. Really looking forward to that Ramon though. Maybe I should finish working on Ralf.

what is wrong with that? use whoever u like…

I bought this game just as my PS2 crapped out on me :crybaby: but now I have a backwards compatible PS3 to play

I know more about my characters’ moves than the actual mechanics of the game. But what I want to run with is K’/Iori/maybe Kula but definitely the first 2. K’ and Iori are the reason I got into the series.

I’m guessing I should have Kula up front as leader then use K or Iori first? I’m most comfortable with them and usually have Iori as my anchor.

I was also thinking of learning Vanessa because she just seems fun to use but if the team chemistry isn’t there then there’s no use until I get a solid understanding of the game itself.

One question I had was how useful is it to really go into the dream cancel? Doing a combo with K’ I noticed it can do 50% with just super cancel. But when a friend of mine was doin a combo with a dream cancel it came out to the same or less. Is this due to damage scaling I’m missing?

Yeah because of damage scaling it’s rarely worth it to use Dream Cancels (unless you are going to kill the opponent). The same thing happens with DMs a the end of long quick shift combos, the tiny increase in damage is not worth the stock.

If you are going to use Kula as leader you really want to be landing her LDM as much as possible which means you need a lot of meter for her. She is a good battery but I think it would be best to put Iori first because he doesn’t want to use meter as much as the other characters. Vanessa is very fun but I only like to use her as leader to get access to her 2k2 style custom combo mode LDM.

I feel at home here…

I used to run Kim/Ryo/Shingo leader, but then my good friend and fellow rival taught me the essence of variety. Eventually I put down Kim since he was really easy to use, and started to mix around with both Ramon and Silber, who I now use both of pretty consistently. Shingo I take ‘very’ seriously. Always have. I’m starting to learn Oswald a bit, and it does help that my buddy is a wicked good player with him. I think he helped contribute to a few of his good bread n’ butter combos on Cyberfanatix, but I digress.

So I heard of the upcoming tournament in Los Angeles. I noticed there were qualifiers going on in Texas…but didn’t see anything going on locally. Would anyone have a link to the main tournament, or know if there’s a buy in? I’m practicing for this, and would be quite hurt if I found out I was readying up for nothing.

clue2025: if u can try to refrain from using kula… everyone uses her… rather use iori, venessa & k’ leader… venessa is very hard to use but she can be scary if used right… and ya unless u r using like momoko leader it’s kind of a waste to do dream cancel… cause in most cases u can just combo right into ldm anyways…

Koru Kinshi: ramon can be fun to use and has a tricky rushdown but seems like u got 2 characters with good reversals… while ramon has none… so maybe use silber instead? silber is just freaken nasty… specially with meter stuff like f.A and jump C becomes so deadly… also shingo can be a pretty good leader but so can ryo & even silber specially with shingo’s qcfx2 C they can both do like 80%…

I captured some matches with my friends today…

They’ll be upped in a few and I’ll link here if anyone’s interested.

are you guys playing arrange mode or something? cause I have never seen those BGs turn up in vs. mode o_O

(edit: also I have a camera now so I’ll be uploading a lot more stuff now  not a capture card but better than nothing!)

She’s a really fun versatile character so I suggest you try out a couple things and see if it sticks, she’s not her awesome OG2K version but still pretty beastly imo…

at tech romacer: i don’t mean to be mean man but why r u guys randomly throwing out specials? and on top of that eating them just standing there… and why r u doing huge empty super jumps that r out of target? also rolling is not a good way to get in… u should utilize the hyper hop system a lot more…

and understand ur character’s normals before u start using specials… normals r wayyy more important than specials… i don’t personally use anyone besides clark so i’ll use him to give u examples…

first of all understand normals… in clark’s case best air to air is jump D… u can beat almost anything with this… his best and ONLY reliable jump in is hop A and E… do not use anything else because nothing else catches crouchers… his good ground normals r cr.A/B/C and s.B… these used properly will let u setup all of his tick throw options and combos…

randomly doing command run is just asking to eat a huge combo… and also regular shifting isn’t a good idea most of the time cause it leaves ur character open for free damage and also makes the character coming in unsafe…

I was randomly throwing out specials?

…Anyway, I wasn’t the Clark player but I can speak for him on one thing; that command grab he does…it goes through my projectiles when I’m using Jazu. And if you’re low enough to the ground it catches jumpers as well. I don’t know the notation for it (like I said I don’t play Clark) but I did figure out its apparently techable (unless he just messed up or something). Its also horribly unsafe on block as I showed to him the hard way.

@ Tone: Yeah, those stages only show up Arrange mode.

i wasn’t trying to be rude… u aren’t really doing specials randomly… but ur friend is just throwing out unsafe specials with no confirmation on if they r gonna actually connect… sure he can guess some but if the risk is too high then it should only be done very rarely… i don’t think i saw him doing any combos either… and on top of that he just eats w/e u throw at him like full screen tornadoes… lol…

Oh ok, I was wondering what you meant - I don’t just throw stuff wily nilly.

The thing is, he knows I don’t know how to deal with Clark and once he figured out that command run went through my projectiles, he started to rely on it. It also had this weird property of catching me at a certain jump height. He and Ka don’t have experience with Jazu and his keep away game so he was unfamiliar with the match-up. Admittedly I don’t know a lot of things about Clark too (like the run grab going through stuff and being blockable at first) so it was a two-way street.

Well, as someone who mains both Clark AND Jyazu…

Clark’s Mount Tackle (hcf+P) doesn’t have invincibility, except a little around his head. The reason he was going through your projectiles is because he was grabbing you out of your startup.
Jyazu’s qcf+C is very weird in terms of hitboxes. Jyazu is already a very fat character, and his animation during qcf+C somehow makes his vulnerable hitbox even WIDER. Plus, you have to with significant start-up on the qcf+C. So basically during his qcf+C, it’s like his hitbox extends-(small gap)-he does animation for the swipe-(small gap)-THEN the projectile comes out.
It just so happens that Clark’s Mount Tackle does have a fairly sized disjointed grab-hitbox in front of him during the active frames, so he can actually grab a bit ahead of him, and once he connects with the grab he’s invincible through the input period for the follow-up.

Yes, Mount Tackle can actually broken a la Tekken throws by inputting the same button as the follow-up chosen. One of the reasons why I never really use it.

EDIT:

Okay, right here though was something different. If you pause at 1:04, you can see it was more luck than anything else. Clark was JUST inside the range of qcf+C to avoid it. qcf+C has a blind spot in front of Jyazu (as you know, the swipe itself has no attack hitbox). Seriously, it was just pixel-perfect luck that he happened to be just inside the range of the projectile once it appeared. Also note, that the qcf+C projectile doesn’t have an active hitbox once it’s “created” inside the swipe, only when it’s moving forward.

Yeah it was a strange match-up with the projectiles just seemingly being useless against that. I’m surprised to learn to its more due to the hitboxes than the properties…

What I started doing later that day is just using tornados full screen and trying to the diagonal version to catch him if he jumped. Then he started rolling to try to get around that.

But yeah, the fight mostly revolved around me keeping away and him trying to get in while getting frustrated.

@ t3h mAsTarOth…!, no I know you’re pointing out stuff and criticizing stuff man, that’s why I post the vids, so I can get second opinions and get better. I know you talk up Clark a lot, I’ll make sure Mike sees your post and takes your advice.

@ Shiki’s Edit: Yes I was wondering what was going in that instance; believe me that day was full of WTF moments.

maybe it’s a stupid question but … what’s the difference between the 2 leader of Adelheid? i just notice that with one his sister comes, with the other she doesnt…
