Next month.
Theres a tournament in the Dallas area on the 6th, I may be in town for it (Its in Denton at UNT) its for SF4 and T6 but you know me, thats not what I’ll be playing…I’ll be on the SNK.
I’ll play SF4 and T6 just to show people I can, but that about it.
if u come ever come to toronto i’ll be so freaken glad man… lol… it would be awesome to play someone so good as u… umm sadly there is actually a very few kof players around toronto area… i was dry of competition for almost 6 years… but recently found a group of people that play… one of them actually has an arcade machine in his basement… lol… i don’t think any of us r nearly as good as u but some of us r pretty decent… we mainly play xi… and i don’t know anybody else besides me that plays any other snk games besides kof… although i suck pretty bad at them it’s fun to boot up the neogeo emulator once in a while and fool around with them… btw i just started getting back in touch with LB2 again…
oh and please don’t play sf4… it’s like the harry potter plague… once u try it u like it even if u agree that it’s crap… lol… glad i quit playing it… T6 however is a lot of fun…
I dont really play SF4, I just play it to show people they better not sleep on me even in that just because I main SNK games. T6 is pretty fun though…I seriously may consider going to Toronto… it depends on if it gets approved…
approved? man i house u for free if i didn’t share a small tiny ass basement with my gf… there is a toronto thread somewhere here… u can post up or i can talk to people around toronto to see how many of them r interested in ur plans on visiting if u r actually serious…
Ive been slackin on my XI game lately. but im bout to hop back on this week…
I have a new team, Eiji, K’, Malin (L) liking it so far…but i have no clue how to make is Qcb K move hit more than once int he corner
You have to tk the QCB+K. Like :qcb::ub::snkb: or :qcb::u::snkb:
Each time or it won’t connect. You can also his connect LDM after it just to be a douche.
tiger-kneeing that command is kinda tough…either that my execution is suspect
Alright I just popped in XI…
You can just neutral hop then do :qcb::snkb:
Man, the controls in this game is SOOOO GOOOD. Things come out so much easier.
One of the best things about KOF XI, the controls are about as exact and smooth as Guilty Gear’s if not equal or better…
My potential characters I am experimenting with are Ryo, Kyo, Shen, Kensou, Benimaru, and B. Jenet.
Who should I use as a battery to backup my Shen?
I play KOF games with Emperor Paine, and KOF XI is really fun to play. I want to get serious for the possible Las Vegas Locals tournament next year. Any tips for these characters would be greatly appreciated!
If anything, that makes things a lot easier to get into than other KOFs. Too bad XI’s pace and tagging intimidates people.
Kensou and Jenet are very good batteries. They have good supers, but they can do fine without them.
With Shen, I’d give Kensou the nod over Jenet because he has better set-ups for QS combos, and also because he fights Gato much better (who is probably Shen’s worst match-up).
Yeah, the controls in the old KOF’s (excluding 95) are stiff as hell. I can’t see how anyone can play them on GGPO and 2DF unless everyone is using Keyboard.
I have yet to play XI, I’ve played a bit of 03 to get used to the gameplay. Just waiting on emulation. I have some dumb questions though:
I’ve noticed in a lot of Youtube vids (particularly in Pungko’s matches and a couple of Dark Geese vids) that no one uses the Saving Shift, even when the opponent has got them in an infinite. Why is that? I can kinda’ understand that you’d want to save your bars when the your char is just about dead, but in all the matches I’ve seen no one has ever used Saving Shift.
Other dumb question: Why is it that that tagged out characters never regain health after taking damage? I assume that this was done to make the game more aggressive. But it’s strange to see this in a Tag Fighter.
1.) Players either forget they can, or think they can save skill points for QS combos and cancels. A crippling trait, they assume the 2 skill points they waited to build could be put to more damaging use, when they don’t consider that it can save their char.
2.) Yes, it makes it a lot more challenging to manage your team, without health regenerating you have to better measure whether a tag is worth it and how the char will fair out later in the match with less health.
On a side note, a lot of newer players like to play Old-Kof style and just let each character fight in order, which is not recommended in this game. There is an art to managing your team, your only means of tagging involve wasting skill points or making your char very vulnerable.
What would determine a good team is a team that can be rotated for the purposes of matchups and how you wish to control the momentum of the match. Using Dark Geese as a reference, he starts with Kula who can easily control the momentum in any matchup, and is solid on her own. But you won’t see him completely rely on her, he will throw Duolon in who becomes just as scary as Gato or Kula with his LDM. No matter which char he lost, he still has a very reliable char backing him up.
Poongko on the other hand uses the more aggressive style of taking advantage of how much shorter it is to build the first skill point, and uses a lot of QS’s, which constantly shifts the momentum, changes the matchups, and can be used as a mixup tool. Both of which are intelligent styles, but are only suited to the player himself.
#1- Pungko’s Matches are VERY VERY OLD. If he does come out we and Mexico will be waiting on him!!!
#2- The Judge is right here, they either forget, or…if they are in an infinite in the air they CANNOT SAVE SHIFT…so in cases of Vanessa if they are in the air they can’t save shift. But at high level play you HAVE to Save Shift vs. Duo Lon’s LDM, or he will kill you hands down. Now experts know WHEN to Save Shift in Duo Lon’s LDM, and you can tell if someone isn’t when they Save Shift…that’ll tell you how well they know how to fight Duo Lon Leader.
And in all the matches you’ve never seen anyone use Save Shift? You sure???
How about this one right here:

This is true, it depends on the players style, different styles of play, but both can be used effectively. I think the Skill Stocks are best saved for:
-Duo Lon’s LDM
-Stun combos if you dont have Duo Lons LDM
-Tagging in and out for escape purposes to make it safe
-Tagging into Duo Lon for his LDM lol
-LDM comboes in general (i.e. Gato)
-Save Shift certainly vs. Duo Lon Leader!
-SuperCancel comboes
But different styles of play yield different POVs.
Also as healthy hype for the next meetup, Kane9999 assures Mr. KOF will be defeated next time in KOFXI (In regards to him ranking higher over him overall). Word from the Juarez players is he’s gotten WAYYYYYYYYYYY stronger over a small period of time…
An international rivalry has been created by yours truly!! :lovin:
HYPE???
I honestly try to save Skill Stocks for QS Combos and Save Shifts but I often spend them in super cancels. I mean, if I got the guy in my combo and I have an opportunity to SC, I may as well burn that skill stock. Not exactly a good habit so I gotta break that if I decide to put in time training in XI again.
Most super cancels in this game aren’t really worth it, in my opinion.
Due to the way damage scaling works, you can often do MORE damage in some combos by just canceling from normals or command attacks AND you still save a skill stock.
Dream Cancels are even worse, I can say about 80% of the DCs in the game are borderline useless.
- The truth.
- True too- for example, with Duo Lon (L) in the corner st.cxxdf+dxxLDM, does not cost a skill stock, but is trickier and requires stricter execution and knowledge of what you can and can’t do.
- Yes so true, I’d go so far as to say 90% of the Dream Cancels in the game aren’t worth it.
We’ll be ready buy the time Raging Storm El Paso comes around DG…I’ve got some matches i need to put up but we’re definitely on the grind up here in Nor Cal
Im tryin to hit up Mexico and do some damage
