That’s still something you can’t change.
It still costs me matches, promos etc sometimes, but whereas before I thought that was the reason I wasn’t climbing, now I know it’s just a temporary delay. If you’re good enough, you’ll climb. Hit a rough stretch but pulled two games out of the fire last night, the kinds of games I needed to get back on track.
That’s all it is, if YOU are good enough AND you take ownership of it, you’ll climb eventually despite the periodical troll games. I understand that now after my time in Dawngate.
That’s the right attitude to have. It does suck and will probably impact your mood at the time, but what can you do. Trolls be trollin’.
OK SO UHHH…
I went 7-3 in my placements. And somehow dropped from Gold 5 to Silver 2.
I checked lolking and it’s showing my ELO at 1360 (was 1520-40 when I started today) and my record as seven wins and ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE LOSSES.
123!
Is lolking bugged for anyone else? Did anyone else’s promos bug out? That can’t be right, I wasn’t even in Gold 5 long enough for my ELO to tank at all.
I’m guessing Lolking doesn’t take the soft reset into account.
Looked at their forums quickly, looks like they’re still trying to get ready for Season 5. Doesn’t explain why Riot thinks a 7-3 record should lower my ELO so much to drop two full divisions.
Your ELO was already lowered prior to your 10 games and only falling 32 divisions isn’t bad either. I fell 5 divisions going 8-2 last season for context (considering hidden mmr).
So then LoLking’s ELO rating is THAT inaccurate? I was in 1500s when I started placements, right around the same as when I got into Gold in the first place.
I wouldn’t even look at Lolking for that stuff. Going from Gold 5 to Silver 2 is perfectly normal. Like JuuM said, your ELO gets compacted when they restart the season, so you weren’t at 1500~ anymore before your placements. Everyone loses the division they were in when it restarts. I’m not sure if going 10-0 gets you back to where you were.
Apparently even LCS pros and challenger have to start over at Plat. That’s retarded. I’m watching OddOne right now try to get back to Diamond, that’s actually a bunch of fucking nonsense.
We need fucking Dawngate back. HotS is cute and all but the MOBA genre needs a direct competitor for LoL.
Dota isn’t a competitor?
Who cares if you drop rank. You’re still practically playing against people of the same skill level as before the reset. The “true elo” will level out eventually. We have 10 months to play ranked, dropping a division or two is not that big of a deal.
Not for new users it’s not. DotA has it’s core fanbase, and those people will always play DotA. But it’s never going to grow large enough to challenge LoL. It isn’t a competitor in the sense that it won’t generate new users and overtake LoL in time.
You’re going to play lots of games every season. The squish just increases your climb time. Not that big of a deal since your skill level across a big enough sample size will still land you in the same division if you play semi consistently.
Dota 2 is definitely a competitor in the MOBA genre.
Do you think DotA 2 will ever overtake LoL in popularity, size of the user base, profits etc? Because I’m specifically talking about challengers to the #1 spot that LoL currently holds.
DotA 2 has some users that play that over LoL, but I am specifically talking about a game that can overtake that #1 spot. That is what I am talking about when I use the word competition.
Like Dawngate ever would.
In it’s current state? No. They didn’t try to improve the game enough in my opinion. Dawngate sure wasn’t going to do that better than Dota 2 is attempting to though.
5.2 is out. I like the new Ahri changes. Orb of Deception giving ms during orb travel is so good. It also makes sense too.
Not that I don’t like the change, but how does Ahri’s Q giving move speed during travel make sense?
The spell wants you to position yourself accordingly to manipulate its return path, gaining some extra movement speed fits the theme. I understand where you’re coming from though.
