SRK Guide is helpful after all :smiley: We can add more hits to Gamma Tornado not by spinning the stick but by mashing buttons. From 2 to 11 hits = 60.000 to 150.000

Oh wow great news. I’m gonna go mess around with that in practice mode. I had the game for a few hours now. It’s taking me a looooooonnngggg time to get used to the controls and the speed. I’m so used to SSF4 that I keep calling assist when I want to use a medium attack. Ugh. Hulk is more fun than I anticipated, but I haven’t dared touch online yet. His Gamma Wave has really fucking amazing priority. It’s beating ALOT of shit and I love it. I bought the big strategy guide as well. Lots of great info that I need to soak up. I’m torn between reading the guide and actually playing–I can’t do both at once. I need a clone! :rofl:

The guide says that M gamma throw has better recovery (5 frames less) than the L version, so use it for follow-up OTG combos. The only advantage the L version has is faster start up (coincidentally 5 frames faster).

Gamma Crush super is apparently invincible from frames 1-73, and it’s the strongest lvl 1 super in the game.

The guide also recommends using the jump cancel from his dash to make his supers and specials come out faster. You basically dash forward and then tiger-knee whatever special or super you want. Doing this will make them execute much faster than simply dashing forward and waiting for the dash’s recovery.

It also lists all the characters Hulk can jump over (via forward dash) when they are crouching. Its 18 characters in total! Its pretty much anyone with Magneto’s height and shorter (but not Ryu or Capt. America). Someone else will have to type the list cause I’m lazy and I’m going back to play/read.

This. The controls and timing deft take some getting used to. Hulks awesome though. KFC during blockstun into Gamma Crush seems to work fairly often :stuck_out_tongue: (but the game had only been out 9 hours :p).

Wow, the frame data in this game is retarded. 73 frames of invincibility?! And people are freaking out about Rufus’ EX Messiah Kick, which only has 15 frames of invincibility. :rofl: I’ve also never heard of command throws where the button press would determine how fast the throw comes out. I think I’ll stick with :m: Gamma Tornado just because of the range; the slower start up time is negated if you just do the kara-cancel tick throw set up.

I was wondering, which of his light attacks come out fastest, st. :l: or cr. :l:?

So I was trying to find some Hulk + Dorm combos.

st.L > st.M xx L AA Gamma Charge > M followup > j.L+Dorm Dark Hole > land > j.H > j.S > s.S > sj.H > sj.S > light Gamma Wave xx Gamma Crush. ( I really like jump land jump combos).

Works from mid range and carries em into the corner. Does 848K. Not too bad for a midscreen combo with 1 meter I thought. If you DHC to Dorm it’s a mill.

That brings me to my question though. How you guys feel about teaming up those two. Dorm needs an AA assist which he gets from Hulk, and Hulk needs to stuff on the screen which he gets from Dorms Dark Hole. I was thinking Mags for the 3rd (no order in mind yet though) .Any thoughts?

But why do you need that assist? Hulk can do similiar combo on his own. Damage is nearly the same.

post was more about me asking bout the team. forgot to mention dark hole also eats a lot of projctile attacks.

combo was just something i was toying with. does more dmg than his other solo mid range combos though with just 1 meter and no xfactor.

In theory it looks like it should work. They complement each other.

Though I don’t feel competent to give you any advice as for now my usage of assists outside of combos is pretty bad.

Just thought I’d drop by and say that I didn’t have high expectations of the Hulk but holy crap he’s awesome in this game. I planned on using him but daaaaamn. I can’t live without him anymore.

Hulk needs to be paired up with an OTG assist (preferably one that hits low) and a lockdown assist. I can’t stress this enough. Doom Rocks is a fantastic assist; it can cover your approach, it stuff projectiles, it locks your opponent down and you can even use it to extend combos. Dormammu’s Dark Hole works much the same way, so I’d say it’s a great choice.

For anyone using the Doom Rocks assist, I found a few great command throw set ups with it. Here’s one that’s simple to perform but really effective:

:l:, :m:, :s: + :a1:, j.:l:, j.:s:, land, Gamma Tornado reset.

Hulk spikes the opponent directly into the Doom Rocks, which forces them to tech near the ground. Then you just hit them with the command throw. If you think they’re holding up, never go for the anti-air Gamma Tornado, always do cr. :l:, the ensuing combo does more damage.

I found an 850 000 damage combo in the corner using 2 assists and 1 bar. It’s fucking hard though, I’ll try and record a video when I can.

With Hulk, and Dante JS assist I can get people off the floor and continue comboing with an otg assist. In the air, you do J.m J.m J.H J.s, and when you land, you have enough time to do a gamma wave, and if you time Jam session right you can continue. It’s very difficult though, but in my experience it works.

I’m wondering: Is the team of Hulk/Haggar/Thor any good? I know Thor is supposed to be good and all, but I really don’t like him that much, I’m only comfortable w/Hulk/Haggar so far. Now thinking about Doom (played him in MvC2, then again, everybody did) cause of his assist?

Do you think Repulsar Blast will be a better assist than Unibeam?

Why bother with hard 850.000 combo when we have an easy one dealing 880.900 damage (1 assist, 1 meter) ?

This. I love Hulk, but finding assists that benifit him has been challenging. Tofu Warrior speaks truth when he says he needs a lockdown assist. It really helps with him ability to make his moves safe on block, etc. not to mention helping Hulk keep pressure. I’m just not sure who to use yet?

@Gargooletz: Yeah, personally I think Repulsor Blast is gonna be better for a hulk team than unibeam. Just my 2 cents.

I would say no, a Storm/Chris/MODOK/Arthur could handily dispatch your team by themselves. Zoning teams are powerful in MvC3, so you’ll need assists that can deal with them. Like I said, Doom Rocks are great for this because they nullify projectiles and just keep going. A really strong approach I’ve been using with Hulk + Doom is:

:a2:, :l:+:m: xx :d::df::f::uf:+:l:

So I call out Doom Rocks, then I do a jump canceled :l: Gamma Charge. So it basically looks like I’m charging with an angry swarm of rocks behind me :rofl:. If they block my charge, they can’t punish it because the Rocks force them to block.

I don’t know if Repulsor Blast would benefit Hulk as it’s mostly an anti-air assist, is it not? At least that’s how it was in MvC2, I don’t know how its properties have changed. People have been saying that it’s unsafe on block, so if you were thinking of using it as a lockdown assist, it might not work.

Anyway, the easy combo you’re talking about starts with j. :h:, mine starts with a st. :l:. I’ll transcribe the notation later today, I’m leaving the house now. Also, with two DHCs, my combo does 1.2 million haha. I actually think it might work midscreen with a few modifications, but you wouldn’t be able to tack on the Gamma Crush, you’d have to settle for a Gamma Tsunami.

Ha! I used to use that rushdown in MvC2.

And yeah, I’m having the same problem a lot of you are…Pairing up the Hulk. I’m using Thor on my team (his Mighty Smash is surprisingly helpful), but I have no idea who I can use as a third. I’m open to any suggestions…

So gamma crush on reaction to Storm’s ice storm beats it clean, it usually still hits the usual dhc’s. Example, storm uses ice storm, hulk gamma crushes on reaction, storm dhc’s to magneto’s magnetic shockwave, gamma crush still hits magneto and hulk is safe. It also works if storm dhc’s to sentinel. So, if your grounded and have 1 bar getting chipped to death won’t be a problem. You just have to watch out if they dhc into a transformation super or something. Does wesker’s counter super work on gamma crush? i would think not but I haven’t had the chance to try it

The last five pages of this thread have been so informative. I wasn’t really planning on playing Hulk, but since I’ve had some success with him after day one, I think he’ll be a mainstay on my team for a very long time. Big thanks and shout outs to Gargooletz, Tofu Warrior, and Togabot for all the combos and setups.

I could compile all the info that you’ve all provided, but putting it all together in a new thread would take awhile because I’m kinda lazy (I want to play the game and actually try out everything you’ve shown). Still, though, let me know if you guys want me to do that. :tup:
