You’re crazy man But you’re also the best! Good luck on your exams, and thanks for testing this.
Yea big thanks Garg!!! That makes his throw ALOT more viable than I originally anticipated!
This. I’m so glad that his tornado throw actually looks usable :shy:
For most of us, tomarrow morning (For midnight releases) I want us to go in this game and Smash everyone to a dust! Planet Hulk comes to Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Let’s ROCK!!!
The Hulk page on the new MvC3 wiki is looking really good! I haven’t watched the video walkthrough yet, but all the information looks amazing. They have damage values for every normal, plus I just found out that the Gamma Wave assist hits OTG; it never occured to me that it would, I just never thought about it
According to the new SRK wiki page Hulk has the highest Power Level (average damage of all the character’s normal moves) in the game with an average of 94,000 (more than Sentinel and Thor’s PL’s of 91,000)
Not that this was unexpected with Hulks limited combo options at the time, just something cool to point out.
Video guide is really basic as we already know so much more about our favorite brute
Using Gamma Tsunami in most situations is a pretty bad idea. You shouldn’t have Hulk on the team without some otg assist and when you have one you can use it to combo into much more damaging hypers or even Gamma Charge which often deals better damage.
That’s great to hear, but you have to take into account that because Hulk’s combo options are fairly limited right now, his access to damage is low compared to other heavy hitters like Thor and Sentinel. However, that should change as the game develops. I have theorycrafted some combos that I’ll be testing on release day; if they work, they will do retarded levels of damage. I’ll post the results of my findings on here.
And I completely agree with Gargooletz, I’ll only rarely use Gamma Tsunami; 99% of Hulk’s meter usage will be dedicated to Gamma Crush, or maybe Gamma Quake XFC Gamma Crush.
I’ve had the game for a couple days now I could help you test if you want.
I’m trying to decide who I should put in the third slot on my team, and lately I’ve been looking at Hulk. I think Gamma Wave as an assist should be very effective at both keeping people out and helping with combos and blockstrings for my other two characters, and he has a lot of health, something my team is lacking otherwise.
What I’m wondering is; Can he be effective without an otg assist? Neither of my other characters have one (unless Trish’s ground trap hits otg, which I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. Ammy’s using Cold Star in this team btw) I see quite a few big damage combos in this thread, but a lot of them use otg assists. (Not to mention Gargooletz’ post.)
It’s up to you but it’s pretty clear that without otg assist he can’t show his true potential. Sure Gamma Wave hits otg, but due to it’s charge input you have to shorten your air combos, or use Gamma Quake instead of Crush.
And I don’t think it’s possible to use Gamma Wave after Tornado and still be able to combo out of it.
I don’t have the game yet, but you might be able to use Gamma Wave OTG + another assist (Chun Legs or whatever) to extend your combo. So a basic Hulk combo could be:
Air series->S->Gamma Wave OTG->Chun Legs assist->S relaunch…
You’ll probably need to call the assist before executing Gamma Wave, so that the wave knocks the opponent into the assist. This is all theory since I haven’t tested it yet. In the end it’s probably much easier and more practical to have an actual OTG assist though.
Well if it doesn’t cripple him TOO MUCH it’ll be fine for me. He’s going to be tank/assist role so it won’t hurt too much if he loses some damage. I’ll just have to see how things work out when I get it tomorrow.
@Bronzefist If Trish’s air trap works the way I think it does (extending combos) then that should be a fine assist to do that assuming I’m in the corner (not sure if it work outside of there). Cold star maybe could do it too, but I doubt it.
@Bronzefist - you won’t have enough time to charge Gamma Wave after air magic series. If you want to otg with gamma wave after air combo you must end it almost immediately. But yeah, it’s a pretty good idea.
I haven’t really tested it yet cause I’ll probably stick with some kind of otg assist.
It can hit OTG after an air series. I found out by watching the Hulk vid on the SRK Wiki:

Check the air series to gamma wave at 1:08. Hulk needs to take a few steps back after landing from the air (while charging the wave), and it will still combo.
EDIT: it does look like he skipped one attack in the air series though, so it wasn’t the full 4 hits that most characters get in the air. Need confirmation though.
Ok. Sry for spreading false information
I’ll investigate tommorow cause now I don’t have my stick with me and charging on xbox pad is a pain in the ass.
To not leave without any contribution:
:l:, xx aa gamma charge :l:,
follow up, land, j.:l:, j.
, j.:s:, c.:h:, s.:s:, up, j.
, j.:h:, j.:s:, gamma quake, xfc, gamma crush
It deals beautiful 1.448.000 damage. Death to Sentinels!
Funny thing about x-factor Gamma Quake is that you don’t need to activate x-factor beforehand. You can activate it after first hit (which doesn’t hit :P) of Gamma Quake and falling stones that deal damage will be powered up.
Np Garg. You been a big help for us who were waiting. I’ll be getting the game in a few hours so I’ll eventually stop posting theories and start posting real stuff.
Something for you guys to keep in mind for Hulk (and other characters): he may very well have combos that can be done in X-factor that can not be done out without it. I’m not talking about the obvious XFC combos. I’m talking about using the speed boost every character gets to extend Hulk’s ground combos. In particular, check to see any Hulk normals which give huuuuggeeee hitstun, and see if you can chain/link/combo unexpected stuff when Hulk gets the extra speed in X-fac. For example, from the vids I have seen, Hulk’s jumping clap (j.:h:) gives a massive amount of hitstun. Suppose it’s possible for him to combo it back-to-back in X-Factor.
I saw Tragic practicing She Hulk combos on his stream, and he found a ground loop with her that could only be done in X-factor. Outside of X-fac she had too much startup & recovery for the loop to work. I’m hoping the same maybe found with Hulk. Also different lvls of X-fac give different levels of speed boost, so Hulk may have some combos that only work with lvl 3 X-fac running.
Yeah, I’ve been thinking about x-factor combos too. Level 3 gives you such a huge speed boost that you may miss your standard combos with wrong timing.
That surely will lead to some new options.
I’ve been spending so much time with Hulk that the rest of my team looks so basic now
I’m going to judge the entirety of whether I main hulk once again based on his sj.fp (thunderclap) that shit was godlike in marvel 2… both for movement and stuffing shit. If it’s not as good in either way… blah… if it is… hulk all fucking day. I’ll be running down my ‘hulk how to smash stuff’ thread from the marvel 2 boards and just trying everything. Then seeing what else might be possible… the new g.charge options are also looking tasty…
Garg… can you give this a shot (i wont have my copy for about 12 hours yet) anything to gamma wave xx xfc xx gamma crush? could also try quake there. (Both supers will pin a point and assist at the same time in theory setting both up for the crush) scary thoughts. Thinking that might be an instant assist killer for hulk.
Thanks a lot for the offer bro, but I can just try it tomorrow :). The combo is really specific to my team, I’m not entirely sure it will work, but I hope it does.
