Yeah, sounds like the Gamma Wave is the preferred Assist, especially since you don’t have to sacrifice him getting too far out (a la Gamma Charge).
Hulk is by far my best character and one of the most threatening in this game easy!
His standing H is nice to toss out in anticipation of your enemy trying to hit you with some puny normal.
off his standing H you can do his meteor hyper for 50% damage
or air combo into ground then OTG tsunami for a bit more.
His gamma charge is QCF so it’s easier to spam, nice to close distance.
and Gamma wave is the best projectile in the game, it eats everything and trades hits with hypers but it’s a charge motion so its not cheese.
My overall hulk strategy is this, get close, standing H and rape
if far, use gamma wave to defend zoning then get in with gamma charges.
That’s the only problem I have, his commands to his moves have changed.
Now Gamma Charge operates like Cap’s Charging Star, but if Banner can plow through certain projectiles while doing it, I’m good. But Gamma Wave being a charge attack? I guess it kinda makes sense, plus I rarely used Gamma Wave in MvC2, but it’ll still take some getting use to. As for his Smash Punch (standing H), yeah, it’s always been his best normal and it can swat down below-average rushdowns like flies. The face that you can do Gamma Crush right off of it makes it even deadlier!
Still, I plan on practicing his air combos OTG > Gamma Tsunami. It looks safer than Hulk’s MvC2 go-to combo, plus easier to DHC (like into Shellhead’s Proton Cannon or 'Pool’s Trigger Happy).
My overall strategy stays the same from MvC2. Pop 'em in the air & eat 'em alive. But have dessert changed from Meteors to Tsunamis.
Any word as to whether Hulk can Gamma Tornado Throw into an assist like Doom Rocks? That would trap them in place, allowing for a launch into an air combo. It’d be a much better alternative to burning a Gamma Wave Super. I think the vast majority of Hulk’s meter should be dedicated to using his Meteor hyper.
If you’re talking about the air chain, you have to delay the S.
LOL @ super armor C S j.BBCS gamma wave super. Gonna love doing that to scrub assists online XD
Moment of the night for me last night playing? Lvl 3 x factor super armor c catches point and assist at almost full life and completely dominates the round in hulk fashion. Satisfying.
The most damaging combo I can think of without x-factor:
(in the corner) j.:h:, j.:s:, c.:h:, :s:, up, j., j.
, j.:h:, j.:s:, land, otg :a2:, qcf+:h:, :l: follow up xx qcb+:atk::atk:
880.900 damage (2.290.100 in level 3 x-factor :P)
You can DHC only if character that assists you is third, because he won’t recover in time for DHC. Here’s example: DHCing into Iron Man’s Angled Proton Cannon deals 1.017.100 damage.
Does that first j. :s: cause ground bounce, or do they stay on the ground?
It causes ground bounce.
Cool, thanks! It’s good to see Hulk join the “millionaire’s club,” though there wasn’t any doubt he could deal ridiculous damage.
I have yet to try this combo, but I think it’ll work:
:l:, c.:h: xx qcf+:h:, :l: follow up, kfc, c.:h:, :s:, up, j., j.
, j.:h:, j.:s:, otg :A2:, qcb+:atk::atk:
This one’s for special occasions when you really want to put someone out of their misery extra fast I don’t know if it’ll be possible to add gamma charge before crush… and I don’t know if that’s even necessary
you can do command throw > dash > Iron Man Smart bombs > H gamma charge > L followup > Gamma crush.
Other OTG assists could work as well but I think it does need to be OTG.
good good good good good good
This is awesome news. I was concerned he wouldn’t get huge damage off the throw unless he used it in the corner. Big thanks for this!!!
Guys can you confirm that Hulk’s Gamma Charges have super armor while he’s on point? A lloooooonnnggg time ago people were saying the only the assist versions had super armor, and not his normal versions. However I just saw a vid where his AA charge did in fact have armor. Can you guys confirm that his ground charge has it as well?
I imagine that’s corner only, correct? How much damage does it do? I’m looking for midscreen set ups as well, with the creative use of assists, when the game drops I’ll experiment and report back here.
It doesn’t sound like it’s corner only. Hulk always throws opponents back… backwards… behind him? (geez, my English sucks)
He throws them far and combining it with :h: gamma charge, :l: follow up I’m pretty sure it goes right to the corner from anywhere on the screen.
I doubt it’s corner only, since he mentioned that Hulk needs to actually dash and then call an assist. To me that sounds like it can be done anywhere. Hopefully that’s the case.
But doesn’t Gamma Tornado send your opponent clear across the screen? That’s why that old 100% combo only worked when Hulk had his back to the corner.
yeah it does. That’s why I think it’s a mid-screen combo, because Fulaani said that Hulk needs to dash. If it was a corner-only combo then Hulk wouldn’t need to dash. We’ll just have to wait for someone to confirm this.
Yeah, no point in debating this considering it’ll all be cleared up really soon I certainly hope it works midscreen, that would make the Hulk a real threat up close.
On a side note, I personally think Hulk’s better than Thor. Thor is forced to approach; Hulk has tools to control the tempo of the match because he can effectively zone with super armoured pokes and a great projectile. I’d agree that Thor is more dangerous up close, but Hulk is just better overall.
It’s 4 am here and I’m checking Hulk’s combos
Ok, it works aaaalmost everywhere on the screen. There’s a little dead zone right in the center.
Tornado into Gamma Charge into Gamma Crush deals about 500.000 damage (a little bit more). You can add c.:h: before Charge.
Alternatively you can go for an air combo and finish it with Gamma Quake (damage is almost identical). I don’t know if it’s possible to otg assist one more time for Gamma Crush… but let’s call it a night. I have some exams tommorow.
