The MvC3 Hulk thread

Oh my god, do you have any idea what this means? This means we have a Thor style corner air throw set up…only mid-screen. After the second anti-air Gamma Charge > :m:, instead of going for j. :l:, j. :l:, go for a reset with his airthrow. We already know that you can combo OTG after his air throw, so Smart Bombs or X-23’s Ankle Slicer would pop them up for a juggle. It would do less damage than Thor’s, but being able to do it wherever you want is just too good. You’d only have to guess between neutral tech and back tech, I’m sure you can super jump to catch back techs.

And don’t forget all of this begins off a DP with super armour, that also hits on the way up. This is godlike.

@Bronzefist: Hulk’s Gamma Wave negates projectiles but doesn’t dissipate. I’ve seen videos where it would eat Magneto’s LP Disruptor, then continue on to hit him. If it beats what people call the best projectile in the game, then doesn’t that make Gamma Wave the best projectile in the game?

So… things to check:

-assists after tornado throw
-dash jc in aa gamma charge combo to extend
-air throw set up (I don’t think range on this is enough to make it work but why are you saying it will deal less damage than Thor’s? two gamma charges put you really close to the corner so it may be possible to do our best corner combo after that)
-gamma wave vs projectiles
-extending corner combo with another launch after smart bombs assist instead of gamma charge xx gamma crush

It looks like I have some work to do

OK, two

OK, two questions on that:

  1. Is it still blockable? (I probably know the answer to that…)
  2. Can you use it in OTG Combos? (Ex: After Hulk ends his air combo and his opponent bounces OTG, can Hulk grab them off the bounce?)

I think Hulk’s air throw would have more than enough range if you time your jump well. You’ll be right beside in the air; Thor’s air command throw has no range but his reset still works. Thanks for being willing to test this!!

  1. No, it’s not
  2. No, you can’t

I’d love to test all of this stuff asap but it’s really gettin late here and I have enormous amount of work to do :frowning:

I’m also wondering how Hulk will fare without any projectile assist. I want to go with Hulk on point, Deadpool and Iron Man. Hulk AA Gamma Charge to keep people off Deadpool, Smart Bombs to otg for Hulk and Quick Work to create unblockables with Iron Man’s instant overheads. Or maybe it’ll be better to use Unibeam and Katana-rama? But unblockables sound just too good.
I hope this team will work. It has some good synergy with easy DHC from all Hulk’s Hypers.

As soon as I have some answers I’ll be sure to post them.

This is kinda what I’m hoping to do. Iron Man/Hulk/Wesker. Unibeam as a projectile and Samurai Edge as an OTG. It seems like it has some good synergy hyper-wise.

I can’t see Hulk being really effective without at least one Proj. Assist. I’ll have to take another look at Quick Work to see its uses, but Uni-Beam goes a long way to helping Hulk get in close. Either way, I plan on sticking with the Gamma Giant on point. He’s on my best team in MvC2, and I won’t change.

And yeah, Shellhead & Pool are PERFECT compliments to Banner in terms of DHC. Nice!

I was playing with air throw resets like Tofu Warrior mentioned:

Try your reset but set your opponent to air recover to random. They’ll get away from your aa grab.

Awesome!! It’s cool to see it in action, thanks for the video! Try doing the AA Gamma Charge > :m: follow up though; that way you can land, and then jump again. If I’m visualizing it properly it should give you better positioning

Edit: The exact combo I was theory crafting was:

s.:l:, s.:h: xx AA Gamma Charge > :m: follow up, land, j.:l:, j.:m:, j.:s:, land, anti-air Gamma Charge, :m: follow up. From there, jump after them and throw for the reset! Also try to set them to tech roll away and see if you can catch that with an air throw as well.

Totally understandable bro, don’t feel pressured to answer these questions as soon as possible, you’re not on a schedule :wgrin: You answer all our questions within the hour, I can’t expect more than that!

Check it out!

I’m loving Hulk

Good work with the videos! Just try to make them a little brighter

So yeah, Tofu’s idea looks like it’s totally working. Can you use assist one more time to do gamma crush instead of quake at the end? That would probably be 100% on Thor. I’m not sure cause I can’t see ‘assist ok’ popping up.

Also you can try something like this: after Sentinel assist do j.:h:, j.:s:, s.:l:, s.:m:, gamma charge :h:, :l: follow up (that should take them to the corner) and cancel it into gamma crush. I think it will deal more damage.

tiiiiiight lol so glad people are getting this gammeeeee but i wish i had it myself =((((

It’s so beautiful, it brings a tear to my eye :pleased: Thank you so much for recording this! And are you canceling the j.E into AA Gamma Charge? :wow: Or are you just doing it on the 1st frame you land? All we need to do now is make sure the air throw timing is as tight as possible so they don’t have time to react and escape. I think if you delayed the second AA Gamma Charge just a little bit, Thor wouldn’t be launched as high, making it easier to grab him afterward.

This is move for move the exact combo I was thinking of. :wgrin: I think it would do more damage as well. Gamma Crush is godlike; it’s completely invincible on start up, only costs 1 bar and it’s so easy to DHC into and out of.

I have a few questions, if you don’t mind, that would make this set up absolutely godlike:

  1. Can you do the :m: follow up of AA Gamma Charge on block?
  2. Can you use an assist to cover the :m: follow up? Maybe Sentinel Drones or Doom Rocks? He recovers so quickly that it should be completely safe.

If what I’m asking is possible, that would mean we could attempt this 100% reset safely and virtually whenever we want. You would just need a really good assist to prevent them from punishing you.

That reset is definitely cool. And of course you can do any follow up you want after hitting on block  Some kind of assist should keep it safe.

Here’s another midscreen combo (works from the starting position):

:l:,:m: xx aa gamma charge :l:, :m: follow up, land, j.:l:, j.:m:, j.:s:, s.:m:, s.:s:, up, j.:m:, j.:h:, j.:s:, OTG assist, gamma crush

770.900 damage

I have to try if hitting horizontal gamma charge xx gamma crush instead of going for air combo will deal more damage.

It’s possible to get one more j.:m: for more damage, but it look like it’s character dependent.
I tried adding some gamma charges before landing gamma crush but they just pop out of the combo. Same thing happens when you try to launch them again after otg assist. You can’t hit anything more in air than just simple j.:m: Too bad as it would lead to gamma quake and result with better damage (I believe).

PS. j.:h: into j.:s: works only in the corner!

Oh man, another combo off s. :l: that deals 800 000  But the best part about it is, it’ll make the air throw reset even harder to see coming. Just do this combo a couple of times, get them used to sitting through it, then when they bring out Sentinel, you can mix it up and kill him. :wgrin:

I’m thrilled to hear that the :m: follow up to AA Gamma Charge can be covered by an assist. The Gamma Charge itself has super armour right? Just like the assist version of that move? If so, it’s a reversal that leads into a 100% reset  I love it.

Seeing these combos is making me so happy. The resets are so sexy.

I wish I had the game already to try this stuff out :frowning:

hulks gamma wave assist really works well with arthur if their even blocking their pushed back to the other side of the screen.

That’s sick, Hulk sounds like he’d be an asset to zoning teams.
