The MvC3 Hulk thread

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen videos where he gets punished for the follow-up on block…

i’m pretty sure GC isn’t safe on block as long as its not pushblocked. on the flip side, Hulk can now GC backwards after a blocked 1st GC. that’ll make it safer but still not completely safe.

I was under the impression that the first one was really really safe but the second one was unsafe. Sounds like it needs osmebody to find out for sure

I’ll make sure that somebody is probably me this weekend!

I dunno if I mentioned it, but there was a Hulk/Felicia wrecking house at Atl Fight Club.

God I’d love to see that, on both sides. Need to see some seriously good Hulk (and any Felicia).

Well, I’ve been kind of making it a point to play the lesser-played characters this weekend so we can gather a little more information on them. I’m already playing Joe/Hulk for most of the matches, so I’ll try to play a bunch of Felicia too.

Yeah I would have recorded it but I was being selfish since I wanted to conserve battery life b/c i wasnt going directly home after fight club.

Anyway, it was essentially Felicia using Hulks ground projectile assist to rush in and chip away. It also caused a considerable amount of block stun. And everytime she built meter the player would cancel into Felicia’s “help me” ala Yattaman 2 where the little cat would randomly interrupt any attempt for the opponent to try and come back. Rinse repeat.

Also Hulks gamma wave hyper DHC’s into Felicia’s super. Looks like it should miss.

The air to ground one? Only time I saw it very much was at E3.

I thought so too. I know the follow up on the ground is way unsafe, but even if both are unsafe stoping after the first should not get you punished a lot of the time just because of the threat of the followup. Also he could just do the followup backwards then super cancel to Gamma Wave if he thinks you will try to punish.

Just the follow-ups in general none of them seemed particularly safe in anything I’ve seen. Although I’ll admit I haven’t seen any anti-air ones immediately pushed into a downward-moving follow-up.

restless, another thing to test to see if s.C is jump-cancellable. I don’t feel like looking for the vid, but I KNOW that you can do a standalone s.C, wait-n-see if it connected, then do Gamma Charge as they are bouncing for an easy hit-confirm combo.

Also, see what supers you can combo off of the Gamma Charge series. It seems like all 3 of his should work and be dirt-easy to XFC to boot.

Oh, and if you start losing while trying stuff, don’t forget to just spam s.C -> E ^ j.A,j.B,j.C,j.E v Gamma Soonamee for stupid damage.

Hahaha, I hear ya. Man, I’m going to have to bring a notebook for all this stuff to test. O.o Hopefully I can get my buddy’s camera to work and I can record some matches too.

I’m kinda wondering if the AA GC considers you on the ground during the first few frames where the hitbox is active. That canceled into rocks super could be a very easy burst combo, chip, or E-Z DHC. Assist instead of canceling to mix it up. If air to ground charge is overhead, that + rolling buckler would give him a nice setup.

That might be cool if up-down GC is overhead, but I’m gonna doubt it.

This is pretty damned awesome. It seems like Hulk might be able to do make any block strings into s.C, E safe because he can just jump-cancel the E if the s.C got blocked.

Does the first hit of E pop the opp up in the air for a normal jump (not a super-jump) air combo ala X-23? For example:

  • s.C, E (1-hit) ^ j.C, j.E v E ^ sj.A, sj.B, sj.C, sj.E v Gamma Soonamee

If that is possible, I will shit a goat.

that would need testing but it seems plausible (or something similar) since the first hit of E is still a mini-launch

I forgot Hulk also has a backwards/retreat charge followup to Gamma Charge. I guess you could use the backwards one if blocked, and use the other followup for hit confirms into supers, XFC’s, etc.

I didn’t get much playtime with Hulk, sadly. Every time I got him on point I was playing someone who knew more about the game then me. So I got locked down quite a bit. However, I can say that he is a really good assist. Both Charge assists come out quickly, so I was happy about that.

Holy balls, Hulk’s ground bounce move (what is that, 5C?) Has crazy good range. Hulk was able to combo Chun Li even when she was above him…

Match 3 confirms crossover dash.(!!!) Match 5 confirms air GC. I wonder if that can be TK’d and made safe.
