I absolutely adore Vega’s SFEX3 theme
I don’t really like Akuma’s theme. Neither the original nor EX versions. The HD Remix one was kinda cool but other than that… meh
I didn’t either. But SF4’s Akuma theme is great. Actually adds a melody to the song.
Prior to that, the best version of his theme was Anniversary Collection’s Arranged version.
I was just in training mode and decided to pick lair of the four kings stage for the hell of it, and after listening to the BGM properly… It kicks so much ass. I love it.
Urien’s theme:
I really want to hear the part when the song starts to fade out…
The part where it fades out is the part where it starts to sound like Crazy Chili Dog.
Anyway, it’s better than the original, but I still want to hear the rest before judging it entirely.

Sounds too Hollywood-esque to me.
i could see that for the more orchestrated stuff (like Necalli’s theme), but music like China stage, India stage, Laura theme, etc still feel very gamey to me, with distinct and catchy melodies that loop well.
I like Urien’s theme. But on other sites and on youtube, the general reception seems to be “It isn’t crazy chili dog, so it’s shit.” The close mindedness is appalling.
But…it IS Crazy Chili Dog.
Yeah they don’t seem to realize that.
Need to have the full theme to pass judgement on it. My personal preferences are:
New awesome theme (SFV Karin) > Good rendition of old theme (like Alex’s SFV) > Meh new theme (Laura) > Meh rendition (SFV’s standard)
That said, for most people Bad Remake > Bad new theme and the urge for nostalgia is such that most new thing are automatically bad. The reaction it’s not surprising although it is depressing because it encourages Capcom to keep betting on the umpteenth tired old remake of the same theme. Crazy Chili Dog has appeared only once before, so it wouldn’t feel repetitive but it must be good anyway.
Also, the Nile theme must return. It didn’t fit Urien too well, but tied to an staged properly crafted to it (hell, just the beach stage at night with people having a wild night party on it) would be damn awesome.

Except for the training stage SFV stage music is slumber party level.

You like training stage music, hate on the likes of Ryu, Nash and Lair of the Four Kings and call it taste? Oh-kay…
people are posting and praising the Streetfighter EX series character themes but no one mentions how good the stage theme are or how they fit the environment
So, final results. Stage themes are mostly dog shit that should be played in hotel lobbies or old folks homes since it puts people to sleep.
Character themes have some okay remixes but some of them are utter travesties, like Juri’s theme.
5/10.
Better than SF4’s soundtrack but not by much.
