There’s Ancient Zone, one of the best video game song I’ve heard. This game didn’t just have awesome character themes ! http://youtu.be/FuPaqaJpq30
I liked how it started raining in Ryu’s SFEX plus @ stage during the last round, that was a special moment with the awesome music playing. Ken Bogard talked about weather changes, I hope it will end up real.
I loved a lot of EX’s music. Rather than trying to imitate what SF2 already did, it instead created something new using the same jazz influences behind the original SF2 soundtrack, something even Capcom was struggling to do for some reason. I don’t know if Nishitani had anything to do with the original sound design of SF2 but at the time it certainly sounded like Arika had more of a handle on its overall musical style than Capcom themselves.
That said though, I did like Chun Li’s original theme. I thought the MvC1 version of it was pretty darn good.
Akuma was killed off and replaced by Dark Kairi after SF EX+@. Sadly this 90s electro-industrial track died with him. Definitely one of my absolute favorite SF tracks, I used to always practice in Akuma’s stage just so I can listen to it.
Across all 3 consoles for SFIV, the first thing I figured out how to do was mute the in-game music and play a mix of 3S/CvS2/Alpha 2&3/Tekken 2&3 tracks instead. It was a bit of a pain on 360, relatively easy on PS3 and super painless on PC. First thing I did during the PC Beta was mute the in-game music and do the same thing, so I can’t say I’m too worried.
