The music is (barely) passable (Music Discussion Thread)

Her SF EX theme is awesome though

There’s Ancient Zone, one of the best video game song I’ve heard. This game didn’t just have awesome character themes !

I liked how it started raining in Ryu’s SFEX plus @ stage during the last round, that was a special moment with the awesome music playing. Ken Bogard talked about weather changes, I hope it will end up real.

oh man that stage was cool as hell, man i miss the old days lol

Any version of Her SF2 theme or Her themes in general?

Wow not even the original? No taste…

honestly the only games off the top of my head where she had good themes is SF2 SF3 and SF EX 3

I liked her A2 theme. Then again, i like everyone’s A2 theme. I think A2 had the best rendition of the original themes.

Give some love for her awesome EX+@ theme:

It’s definitively one of her best. It sounds like the most SF2-ish of her non-SF2 themes.

Chun-Li’s SF Ex theme is actually as good and maybe even better than her SF2 theme (that intro is perfection).

God that Arika were so fucking inspired when they made the Ex series. So many great characters and themes.

Dear Capcom,

Fire Hideyuki Fukasawa

Hire the original Arika composer team

Replace the entire SF5 soundtrack with new tunes in Super Street Fighter V

Her SF2 theme, yeah.

Aww. Thanks.

Duuude, don’t even get me started on her CPS-1 remix:

It fits so perfectly in the game, it’s like it was a secret SF2 theme that nobody has discovered yet.

I loved a lot of EX’s music. Rather than trying to imitate what SF2 already did, it instead created something new using the same jazz influences behind the original SF2 soundtrack, something even Capcom was struggling to do for some reason. I don’t know if Nishitani had anything to do with the original sound design of SF2 but at the time it certainly sounded like Arika had more of a handle on its overall musical style than Capcom themselves.

That said though, I did like Chun Li’s original theme. I thought the MvC1 version of it was pretty darn good.

Chun’s SF2 theme is relatively weak. Always has been, hence why the remixes are always weak.

Anyways, remixes are boring for the most part. Let’s see some more on the creativity side.

SF EX are the best

Street Fighter Alpha series wasn’t just my favorite iteration of Street fighter but, the music was also pretty damned smooth as well.

This is actually pretty good, how did I miss this??

Note:
I’m not surprised the SF 5 music is crap.

This is one of the forgotten gems of the Ex series

Akuma was killed off and replaced by Dark Kairi after SF EX+@. Sadly this 90s electro-industrial track died with him. Definitely one of my absolute favorite SF tracks, I used to always practice in Akuma’s stage just so I can listen to it.

Across all 3 consoles for SFIV, the first thing I figured out how to do was mute the in-game music and play a mix of 3S/CvS2/Alpha 2&3/Tekken 2&3 tracks instead. It was a bit of a pain on 360, relatively easy on PS3 and super painless on PC. First thing I did during the PC Beta was mute the in-game music and do the same thing, so I can’t say I’m too worried.

Oh and Strange Sunset off of EX+@ was dope

its always been for best soundtracks
3rd strike/new generation/second impact
alpha 3
and the ex series
shouts to guys theme on alpha 1 though
