It’s funny…The soundtrack is like highly uneven. Certain themes like Ken/Ryu and the new main menu are sick; others like Rashid, Bison, Birdie aren’t quite doing it for me. But this is all subjective anway and to my ear, its much improved over SF4. As it stands now, I’m happy.
Less catchy, more musical overall is probably why it’s not feelin like older game osts.
but better than 4 ost, although sakura and balrog themes in 4 were a favorite of mine.
I notice in 5 ost there’s more stuff going on in the melody department and more instrumentation overall compared to just catchy riffs and grooves.
I like the brazil stage theme the best so far actually. It’s got like 3 easter eggs of very famous south american songs, and I’m south american so it’s pretty dang awesome to hear something in your favorite game series which you never thought would happen. It’s also got the tekken appeal for me; whether it’s good or not it makes me feel like I’m playing a fighting game.
Why so much emphasis on SF2 soundtrack all these years when this game is closer to SF3 which also had some amazing tracks? I swear these companies really dont put enough into survey analysis to see what works for franchises, especially huge ones like Street FIghter.
I could imagine how much less labor intensive it would be to use existing resources and revamp good classic hits instead of making a brand new crap soundtrack.
Brazil theme is definitely awesome. Sounds like something that would get played at Caribanna or a summer music festival.
What’s even better is that it fits the stage AND it’s good for a fighting game. I think that’s why I enjoy Kanzuki estate and Hillside Plaza so much; the themes fit the stage aesthetic.
there hasn’t been a good arrangement of Ryu’s theme since A2G… Capcom is still making the same mistakes from IV with new arrangements of old character themes.
