It’s more about the action itself in SF games that is kinda slower compared to other fighting games that such faster music doesn’t really belong. That’s why, for example, something like Zangief’s and Fei Long’s themes feel just perfect for a Street Fighter game, while something more blood pumping like Viper’s theme doesn’t
Obviously they’d tone it down a little, but their compositions are solid and they know how to deliver a “hardcore anime action” sound. I think they’d fit well in a game like this. Just ditch the camp lyrics and add more harmonizers.
He’s right though the training stage is terrible.
The non-character themes are pretty cool and very different from 4 but the training stage and those themes are pretty awful.
it just sounds like background music. if the london theme played in a department store, i wouldn’t even notice it. the ethnic aspect of the nz stage sounds okay, but it still sounds like i’d hear it passively at a greek takeout place or something. in words that have been used already, the music lacks “character” and “energy.” i’m not even a huge fan of metal or hard rock, but listen to zato’s xrd theme. five seconds into the song, it already sounds threatening, like zato is about to send eddie into your asshole before you can even start moving the characters. its not my favourite fg track but i respect how it accomplishes its goal in barely any time.
the music isnt bad, but it doesnt sound like something i would play in my car or generally listen to outside of the game. and that was the measuring stick that many fans had for older games. actually, i feel pretty much the same way about the stages as the music. a lot of the descriptions are interchangeable verbatim. that says a lot about my opinion of the overall art direction.
Sounds like bloody roar msuic to me. Which is fine. Though a little too much rock and metal going on. The beginning is alright but then it starts to lose it’s edge on me.
