I would have to say that Street Fighter 2 had the best music of all the SF games followed by the Alpha series and then the Street Fighter III series. My favorite themes would have to be
SFA - ALL OF THEM, especially ADON
SFII - Ryu, Ken, Guile, Honda, Balrog
SFIII - Akuma, Dudley
SFIV - Adon, Hearts of Fire (Akuma vs Ryu), Drive-In
Surprisingly great. More good themes than meh themes too - an all-around amazing sound track. It really puts SF4 and SF5 (so far) to shame. The newest Street Fighter games are really mediocre soundtrack-wise. Just bland dance/techno music with no soul in it; as if it came fresh off a conveyer belt.
There is just no comparison between KI’s music and anything coming out of Capcom in the last 10 or so years. KI’s soundtrack is consistent and utterly inspired for a fighting game, I don’t even play the game but I love its music. Especially the track you just posted. The music really helps capture and create the atmosphere of fight, the characters, and the KI universe - This is what all good music should ultimately be able to do.
Again, I do agree with you in essence. SF music in the last decade or so has been nothing but filler. But I’d rather take filler than outright distracting tracks. So bad it’s distracting is the biggest sin ANY Soundtrack in any media can perform (unless of course it’s on purpose but that’s few and far between). In terms of fighters, as long as it doesn’t distract from the audio cues you’ll need from the game, then I don’t really care. If it’s actually good, that’s just gravy.
Yes really. Using production tracks isn’t “embarrassing” in of itself as they’re designed to be used in any sort of promo. What’s embarassing about it is the fact that this series once prided itself on its original music and now needs to resort to using production tracks to promote itself, as its actual music is pitiful.
Except they did that shit even back in the day as an OST isn’t done this damn early. It took them a while to even get it started for Marvel.
And let’s say I’m incorrect with the above and they’re only using them to cover up for bad movie compared to before when they wouldn’t. Then how the hell isn’t it more embarrassing to basically admit that the music is so bad we’re not allowed to listen to it until release? It’s the same shit with Review Embargos. It’s far more humiliating to admit that you need the embargo due to how terrible your reviews are, than the actual reviews themselves.
I’m really enjoying the SF5 music a lot (excluding the Training Stage theme) more than I did SF4’s. I did think there were a couple gems in SF4’s soundtrack, but it most certainly isn’t hard to surpass by any means.
Really in love with the Main Menu theme right now.
EDIT: Round 1 London and Round 2/3 China are pretty good as well.
Psycho Josh, I’m signing in Shoryuken for the first time in awhile to straight up tell you that you need to chill the fuck out. How a mod hasn’t kicked your literally psychotic ass out of this thread is beyond me. You need to go see your high school guidance counselor. I don’t know whether you have a severe mental health problem or a behavior disorder, but regardless of what you’re actually diagnosed with, no excuses; you need to be a man and start respecting people. Take a chill pill.
