Also, I don’t know if it’s a bug in the game or what, but noticed that if you skip the victory animaition between rounds - the music stops and starts over only a couple of seconds after the next round begins. I feel like the music should just go along like SF4 or GG or BB or T7, or cut to the “next part” if it’s a multi-round track like SF3
What worries me personally is consistency. I think some of fukasawa’s tracks are great, like deserted temple and taskmaster’s theme but he makes some horrid compositions/arrangements like balrog’s sfiv theme and iron man’s theme in mvc3. Ugh.
Such a tragedy…look at his wiki. The games he has composed for, not just the fighting games, has been unremarkable and forgettable. Probably same for the anime. SF and Capcom fighters in general has a history of incredible music, quite sad that they don’t seem to care much about this aspect of the game.
I don’t think that it’s about them not caring; but I do know a lot of about the gaming industry(it’s my career). The japanese gaming industry is extremely very hierarchic and often times when it comes to budget, it’s not the public figures who represent the game who are in charge. Capcom is a humongous entity and for all we know they might of just wanted to stick to fukusawa for the sake of not spending any budget on looking for someone or simply hiring someone else. This is hypothetical though; capcom might simply not care about the music very much anymore as you say. Like I mentioned before, fukusawa does makes some very good, catchy compositions but they are in the minority. Let’s just hope that he’s studied his material and become a better composer. This is true for visual artists, can’t see why it wouldn’t be for musicians.
I think is pretty nice. I could not do better myself.
However, I have heard better from my folks at Arcsys. But still, I find it enjoyable. I just wish they had customized character voices and lines. I enjoyed the lines during the rival scenes.
I read the term objectively shitty music and I rolled my eyes so hard, music is as subjective a thing as there is, everyone has their tastes and that’s ok.
So do you think music becoming classic or critically acclaimed is just a matter of chance? Why would they pay music producer when they could just throw a cat onto a keyboard for free?
To get good music you need a good composer. They can’t afford one, so they most likely hired bottom of the barrel cookie cutter musician to make some simple electronic tracks. It’s time to tell capcom they’re messing up. If you keep quiet you’re only helping make the next SFxT…
