The MMA Thread. BJ Penn Didn't Die #HeDeadThough

Didnt Kenny also say he thinks Jon Fitch is the best fighter at 170?

lol florian is full of shit, calling round 3 a borderline 10-8 round. lyoto clearly won, but he wasn’t dominating the hell out of rampage anywhere near the tune of 10-8.

He did also say that Rampage came back near the end though. This is probably why it wasn’t a 10-8 actually, combined with Lyoto’s relative lack of activity from the top. Can’t just sit back and take your time in a 3 round fight, gotta get it in.

lol@ being undefeated.

lol@ new england mma scene…our scenes so small we know like everyone worth knowing. i heard some fucked up stories about dan lauzon tonight hahaha.

Now you gotta share those stories. Sometimes I even forget Joe had a brother

dude this muthafucker apparently back in the day went around picking fights with people at college parties. not even to the guys who look like they can fight, just random ass cats, talk shit about their women and then severely whoop their asses…just cause he can. dudes fucked up. lol.

also…brazilians who train mma in mass…are crazzzyyyy lol

the best is when people like that get stabbed or shot and then die. Whos the other loser that did shit like that? he was on tuf and he was part of some douche bag suburbian gang that ran around jumping people pumping gas with like 30 people.

i’m pretty sure that’s the only way a lot of guys in the UFC could ever win a street fight based on their “stand up”.

btw dan and a school he trained at got beat up by a soccer team. lol cause he beat up the kicker or sumtin lol.

lol nigga all of the soccer team is “the kicker”

LOL!

What about Mr. Goalie.

im telling you what was told to me…the word kicker was used, not striker, or player.

The thing is, relative to the rounds where Quinton won, do you not think it would have been justified to call that a 10-8? Quinton did very little in the rounds that he won (essentially his 2 round wins kind of split the offense that Lyoto had in round 3, as far as I saw).

Effectively Machida “lost” one point to Rampage in both round 1 and 2, and he (Rampage) didn’t do nearly as much in either of those individual rounds as Machida did in round 3, which is what makes me think he should have gotten a 10-8. It’s all relative to me.

Then again, IMO they need to give 10-8’s more easily. As far as my (basic) understanding of the 10-point must system goes, the only thing that is forced on you is that the winner must get 10 points. Why does nobody ever use the point range of 1-8? A good example would have been Kalib Starnes. 10-8 or 10-7 Quarry? Why not 10-1 seeing as he literally did nothing?

Anyway, just another one of my issues with current judging. But yeah, I get what you’re saying, by average judging it was just maaaaybe a 10-8 in my eyes, but did not surprise me that nobody actually gave the 10-8.

^^^ glad someone else sees it same as i do.

Ever seen a soccer game? The goalie kicks the SHIT out of that ball lol.

a school full of mma guys gets beat up by a soccer team?

o_O

makes me wish i was in soccer??

heard only a few guys were good fighters but still…20ish hormonal angry college guys vs mma guys…yeah my money woulda been on the soccer team too. my question is…do you think the soccer players implented pride rules? lol.

True. But at least he uses his hand sometimes

they should say fuck rounds and just judge by the fight. Whatever happened to eddies bravos scorecards between rounds? did the ufc take that out because they didn’t want it making their judges looks stupid (as if they already don’t do that enough themselves). How can boxing put up a round by round score of their fights and mma can’t? Dana really should spend less time trying to go to mexico and all these other places and actually fix shit that it is important to the sport.

I don’t know about the other guys, but I fully acknowledge that it’s Machida’s fault primarily.

He knows how the judging rules are, we’re simply discussing our opinion on how we feel they should be.

In regards to wrestlers: I see what you’re saying. However IMO, if a guy gets wrestlefucked where nothing happens but he gets taken down and hit with a couple of stray punches (LnP tactics essentially), that could still end up being a 10-9 to me simply because no real offense (I guess that can be phrased “meaningful attempts to finish the fight”) occurred.

Again, all hypothetical, and strictly opinion. Doubt anything is going to change anytime soon, which is why I dropped the topic until someone else brought it back up. I don’t necessarily think it’s a good thing to drastically change the rules now while the sport is growing so much and still gaining so many new fans. Then again, if they made it Japanese style judging/reffing where fighters could lose parts of their purse for timidity etc, they would definitely have some more explosive, more-exciting-to-the-casual-viewer fights on their hands, I imagine.
