Bruce Irvin, to be specific. Haha, because if it was Sagat then I think need to see that match again.
You know what this is?
Karma!
Yep remember Machida robbed Shogun? Yep… that’s right. Evans/Machida/Rampage all going down to Rua anyways.
I could definitely see how Rampage won if you look at it scoring by rounds. Though I think in this case I thought round scoring isn’t the best deciding factor in this case. The reason is because shit didn’t happen in the 1st and 2nd round. Rampage didn’t really land anything great at, just a few glancing blows, while Lyoto just had a few light kicks here and there. 2nd round Rampage got a takedown, which I believe he deserved that round, even though it really didn’t seem to do much.
Now the 3rd round definitely seemed way more significant cause shit actually happened. This is where people would say Lyoto won the fight. I guess I can see where people have a problem with MMA scoring is cases like this, where the 1st and 2nd round really didn’t have an outstanding winner because nothing significant happened, where the 3rd round when it started ramping up seemed very significant in the grand scheme of things. People would get rather miffed if the 1st 2 rounds granted 2 points over the 1 point Lyoto gained from the 3rd basically.
But in my opinion, I sort of wish they just did something like a sudden death round because honestly Rampage didn’t amount to much just, even when he was aggressive. The 3rd round seemed like a warm-up and I’m willing to bet a lot of people would like to see that go to the distance.
karma.
Yeh, wonder what Lyoto’s brother is thinking…
Don’t most fighters really dislike the sudden death rounds though? That’s what I thought at least.
Also I think karma for Machida robbing Shogun was getting blown away inside of 1 round in the rematch, lol. But if we believed in karma, we would have to explain why Shogun’s knee gets hurt AGAIN after a huge win like that. So it’s whatever, questionable judging decisions are hardly out of the norm enough to be considered in the realm of karma.
I’m not going either way on this one until I rewatch it, but at the time when Machida had his moment in the 3rd with the strikes and takedown, I said to myself “I think that’s the decision for Machida right there.” But I’d hardly call that a 10-8 round, I dunno where some of you are getting that. My initial impression was two really close rounds in which Machida was moving backwards but still setting up strikes, Rampage was moving forwards but not landing any significant damage except for the one uppercut, some junk against the cage, and some uneventful ground work. Coulda gone either way, I’d love for some of you who are saying that there’s “no argument” to point out exactly where Machida definitively won either round 1 or 2. Or why you’d think round 3 was a 10-8. I’ll consider that when I rewatch it, maybe pick up on something I missed since I don’t train dat UFC.
I think karma would be inaccurate in this case. I mean karma would actually mean you did something to deserve it, and in these cases it’s not like the fighter has any sway over the judges decision about the fight. Unless Lyoto was bribing the judges or some shit during the Shogun fight, it honestly was out of his hands.
Well anyways, since Rampage got the W, I wouldn’t be surprised if more black on black crime with Rashad is gonna happen eventually. I mean he basically has a half a year to do shit until Shogun recovers.
edit: I dunno about the fighter’s feelings about sudden death rounds. I just felt like it was just getting heated up in the 3rd. I would have love to seen this go on longer like a 5 round fight or at the least 1 extra round to decide it.
Can’t believe there are no gifs! I made some so credit source if you share them on other forums plz

Ninja edit: 2nd one was looping so I’ve updated with a new link
It would appear that some people don’t understand the concept of karma.
Machida was noble as always. He said the same thing he said after the judges gave him the Shogun fight. A lot of people back then were saying that he was full of shit and wouldn’t be saying anything like that (essentially, “if that’s the way the judges scored it then so be it, they scored it as such for a reason”) if he had lost a crappy decision. Now they’ve been proven wrong.
Anyway, I’m not sure why people hate Machida as much as they do.
Side-note: I’ll make sure to let people know that some dude on a forum that they’ll never visit made those gifs. Are you expecting royalties or something? :clown:
After careful consideration I will have to decline any payments, I just hate it when you do some then some website comes along slaps their logo on it and claims it to be there own.
Posted them on mma core and Rampage’s facebook page
Not even in the top 100 worst decisions. I’m not a Rampage fan either.
One thing other people don’t seem to understand is that octagon control and aggression are two of the major factors they look at when scoring each round. It’s not just scored on how many hits someone lands, so while Rampage may not have gotten many more hits in those first 2 rounds, he was the aggressor and was controlling space, meanwhile Machida kept his Storm runaway bullshit going. His “elusive” style (running away) does not help him on judges score cards.
I definitely said how I can see rampage winning. My point was that judging this fight by the rounds wouldn’t really be representative of the entire fight, like how Pride judges the whole fight rather than the rounds. I said what I said because the 1st 2 rounds, not much action happened from both side until the 3rd. Anyways, I wasn’t surprised when Rampage won anyways, he actually did a good job in the 1st 2 rounds by cutting off Machida just by moving forward. During the fight Machida was close to being cornered without even throwing a punch.
Rampage won rd2, Machida won Rd3…the only round that was debatable was rd1 and Rampage won with ring control, seeing how neither of them really landed anything significant
Sorry, I didn’t actually mean to direct that at you so much as the people saying rampage did nothing in round 1 and 2 (I know I said “you” in my post but I’m watching ncr and distracted lol).
Great arguement there how can anyone argue with such well constructed logic you just blew my mind.
Apparently you missed the last 5 seconds of round 2 and the last 90 seconds of round 3.
I love how a group of guys at applebees last night wearing the chains shirt were surprised Rampage won:rofl:
So we should base everything on 5 seconds of one round? Really? Outstanding logic.
Ignoring a post but responding to it’s follow up isn’t stupid no who told you that? It doesn’t matter what thread I’m in it seems srk people so often oversimplify and/or only respond to posts without being fully informed.
chill man
linkin park is in no way associated with emo kids at any point in time, unless you’re using emo as a misnomer.
you might as well say linkin park is associated with goth kids. (also untrue)
