Hahaha. That opinion is soooo cute.
The Japanese don’t work that way. :nono:

Some people would say it’s an insane country. Anyhow, that’s just the way things are done. Don’t really have any other way to explain it. I respect the fact that you can’t really “buy them off” If you wanna operate in their country you have to be their bitch no matter what the financial upside is.
Is Japan losing interest in MMA or is it just Dream overpaying people?
the Japanese public has no interest in MMA now. Even those who participate in combat sport. I think in my gym only ten percent AT MOST know who Yushin Okami is, and these are people who have a healthy interest in fighting sports.
MMA is just dying over here, and to be honest Dream should have been dead months ago. Hell, K-1 should be dead by next year.
WHAT.
the country that basically invented ground subs doesnt give a shit?
how can that be?
I think that is just something that has been ingrained in their culture for years and years.
So many things sorta reflect that within their culture. From the language (hiragana for stuff that is japanese in origin while katakana seperate alphabet is used for foreign words)
to the history of Japan involving East Asia for a long time. It’s just kind of the whole “We are Japan, deal with it” kinda thing.
The hiragana/katakana thing is left over from their use of Chinese Kanji until about 1100CE. While katakana is used mainly for foreign words now, there is more to it than that.
The business issue is more complicated and related to the prewar Zaibatsu families and their control over industry, the postwar/modern Keiretsu and the main-bank/head-company control over smaller firms, and the traditional Yakuza protection/loan-sharking schemes mixed in with the generally strict hierarchical power-structure. In short, doing business in Japan is harder than in any place in Asia because of all the behind-the-scenes power issues at stake in any deal.
The sad part is that Japan is killing itself socially and economically. The population projections suggest a loss of 30mil+ people over the next 30 years because of the terrible birth-rate. (from 128mil to ~95mil) This means a huge loss of work-force, and with women generally not taking any active part in the workforce (Japan has the lowest number of women engineers/scientists/business owners/and elected officials) there’s going to be a huge hit to their economy very soon. This is only solvable via immigration, and we all know how well the Japanese accept foreigners.
So basically, they put a mafia in their mafia, so they can mob while they mob? Or are the Zaibatsu/Yakuza/etc kind of like a ladder structure? I’m getting the impression that maybe one was born out of the other, but they are separate entities. Still crazy to me how people over there think the Yakuza is just the way things are, that shit wouldn’t fly for long over here. We’ve got TV shows and movies about the mob, for them it just sounds like daily life and they seem to be totally ok with this.
Sounds like tradition needs to start giving way to innovation pretty quick, or they’re gonna be in some deep shit. They’re gonna wind up gettin dunked on by China sooner rather than later.
“normal” j-folk arent okay with mafia at all. In fact, calling them mafia makes things complicated. IMO the simplest way to look at things is that the higher in management you go, the more you get intertwined with businesses completely unrelated to your own and some of those businesses have a history of implied violence.
And even though mafia violence is literally the only thing that sunk Pride, I don’t think it’s as huge a deal for the UFC as people make it out to be. We’re talking about the Fertitas. You really think they haven’t communicated with mobsters before?
Oh, fun fact. Mafia ties is one of the things that kept UFC and M-1 from copromoting. If UFC entered an agreement with M-1 and their russian mob ties were brought to light, than Station Casinos would be subject to investigation also and the Fertitas could lose their casino licences.
I, personally, assume ever businessman or person is somehow connected to a crime organization. And come on, just listen to the name “Fertitas”. That shit sound like some Soprano shit.
See to me that sounds like “now that you got a business, maybe you wanna help out my cousin Watanabe over here, and MAYBE you two wanna do some good business together, or MAYBE we’ve got some other family here that can make things difficult for you, which MAYBE would include some violence. Not sayin we gonna smash up your store and house and kneecaps or anything, just sayin some of that has happened in the past, if you catch my drift.” Sounds a lot like a mafia to me.
Why is the Japanese birth rate so low?
That and they are growing up sexually repressed and some wild ass form of effeminate asexuality going on. You know who in manga the male characters usually have no interest in girls . Well consider that shit on a nationwide scale. You got guys dressing as close to girls as possible. Its gotten so bad that broads gotta have Host in shit taken them out at bars and talking to them because the male populace is that fucked up over there its like overt masculinity is deader than a bitch.
You also forgot anime chicks. :looney:
Let me know if you need some backup.
The birthrate drops in all industrialized countries. Apparently education, health care, technology, and birth control = less kids. Germany, France, Britain, and the US; all these countries rely on immigration to maintain population growth. It’s why large amounts of African, Indian, and Turkic/Mediterranean people have been moving in to Western Europe, and Mexican/Latino into the USA. It’s these (generally) lower-class populations with their higher birth-rates that are keeping these countries growing, if they hadn’t they’d have started dropping population many years ago.
But Japan is one of the most ethnocentric countries in the world, the last big immigration push with Brazilians was a failure. I don’t know if the youth of Japan are open-minded and rebellious enough against the current systems to start making the real changes needed.
man…the chael sonnen story continues. WTF?!

From what I understood, they’re injecting him with testosterone to replace whatever he isn’t making now because of damage to his endocrine system.
