The only reason MMA should care about this fight is for note taking. First is creating the allusion of having an unstoppable force and putting that unstoppable force against someone who looks good on paper but doesn’t have a chance against the unstoppable force’s style. If Dana wants to generate BIG TIME money off of his fighters, then he has to stop putting his best up against someone who actually has a chance of beating them immediately. If he wanted Brock to be a bigger draw, then Brock should have fought Russow, Kongo, and Mitrione in that order before he fought Cain. GSP should have fought people he could knock out or submit before he fights the #1 contenders. Anderson should fight twice a year to keep his aura and have two people in MW clean out the division to face each other then Anderson. Instead, Dana gives the people what they want immediately, and that’s not how boxing operates. That’s why they have the biggest draws and have the biggest cashflow in their superfights. It sounds crazy at first but think about it. You have to tease to get excitement. Matter it be a handjob or an MMA fight. So yeah, Dana should be taking notes from Bob Arum. He is a snake, a liar, and a con artist, but the guy knows how to build excitement.
Thats also why no one gives a shit about boxing anymore
Ken Shamrock spoke Fight Network Radio recently and stated that he believes that if the UFC would look past their personal and legal issues and give him a rubbermatch with Royce Gracie at UFC Rio in August, they will sell out and set pay-per-view records much like his pair of fights with Tito Ortiz did.
?There?s no doubt in my mind, and anyone else will tell you that if this fight was to happen, this would be the biggest pay-per-view to date, but they will not let that happen. [The UFC] would have to swallow their egos for that to happen and these guys have too big of egos to let that happen,? he said. ?I love to fight. I want to fight. I think staying within my capabilities of fighting people who were from my time?Trying to fight these young kids, obviously I?m a bit too old for that, but if I stay within my realm of things I think fans would enjoy it, I would enjoy it and I think it?s good for the sport.?

I’d… I’d actually kinda like to see that. Mostly because I’d like to see Ken Shamrock beat someone, or at least fight someone that won’t be able to KO him. I miss that. :’(
It’s funny as i watch the footage of edgar talking about the mergers how salty gsp looks and how universially it’s accepted that Serra punched the fighting spirit out of him.
I cant help but wonder how these would go under a point based system like prides.
I wont dispute that, more just waxing about rule changes determining the p4p best when it comes to lay and prey.
I love gsp but everytime i see him i want to watch someone kick his head off or rip off a limb and aside from being canadian(sorry French Canadian) i dont know why.
If he does get into MMA, I’d like to see him properly called out for his skinhead comments from a while back about MMA fighters and fans alike.
If Arum does try to do promotion in MMA, watch out for Dana to give him hell.
It’s a shame they are trying to schedule Fedor for that Henderson fight.
Now is there perfect opportunity to have him continue in their tournament.

So anybody else think Diaz is gonna get fucked up by Lacy? Its funny how Diaz wanted the same amount of money as GSP/Pacquiao is getting and hes getting the same amount as if he were to fight a title fight in MMA.
That’s not bad money for a first pro boxing match. Suppose he wins? It would at least double his next prize.
Faber is ALWAYS 2 fights away from a title shot, remember this
RockBogart:
He got raped. Putting him back in hurts their credibility and his. And Cormier is a harder matchup than Henderson. Cormier is basically a bigger, stronger, and faster Henderson minus the old age and wars.
Eh, no doubt he got man-handled, but I imagine that it wouldn’t take much effort to bring someone back after a doctor’s stoppage loss. It’s an easy sell, especially when it’s someone like Fedor. I’m not saying I agree with it, just that it was pretty clearly their intention to begin with, and they now have their chance.
Not sure why you rate Cormier so highly. I mean, I guess he’s got the whole “black” thing going for him? Other than that, I don’t see anything worth mentioning in his matchups.
I actually managed to see this post before it was edited.
I just expected him to fight Torres or Jorgensen first. (but certainly not Benavidez)
If Diaz wins, I can see him get about 250/300 gs for it. I would prefer to see Diaz/GSP just so I can either see GSP get tooled standing up or Diaz get thrown around like a ragdoll for 5 rounds.
Edit: Just in case anyone gives a damn, Aoki/Varner could be happening in the next fight card in Japan.
Yeah I said title “shit”, but it applies anyways
When you’re as marketable and popular as Faber, you give him a chance to strap on that belt ASAP! Fuck them other contenders, THEY AIN’T AS PRETTY AS FABER!

Because he is a better wrestler than Hendo and doesn’t have the wear and tear.
on Urijah and Torres: No point in putting those two in a title eliminator when you can make more money making the Cruz v Faber match right off the bat.
except urijah is bout to get dat ass whooped by cruz and his wacko footwork.
I too, think Cruz can pull this off. If he can someone how manage to naturally sweat vaseline he should be ok.

Once in a while it backfires like Gamboa/Lopez situation
Gusy sacrifice speed when going down in weight usually. Not so much strength.

lol yeah its weird to think he was stronger than the guys who were supposedly heavier than him. it may be the age factor really.
