(for a professional of course) The criticism comes from the fact that GSP’s striking and takedowns are supposed to be so good and how Jake Shield’s only option was to somehow take him down and submit him… and that GSP couldn’t do anything significant.
Shields looked small. The prelims were fucking awesome go watch them.
GSP boots up to safe mode once again, it works, but not very interesting to me. Still a good show despite a GSP nap inducing performance. Unless he is pushed the same shit is going to keep happening.

Nah, as someone who’s been hating on MMA striking since the beginning of this thread, I gotta admit MMA striking is improving with the new generation of mix martial artist. Aldo/Hominick proved that last night. Still not the greatest, but still no where as bad as it used to be.
But yeah, as dominating as GSP’s been with his striking, it’s still so damn limited. Jab, jab, jab, feign leg kick jab, superman punch, leg kicks, straight. That’s it. Make matter worst, GSP has very average power in his strikes.
Shields turned out to be the MMA equivalent of a counter-pick to GSP. GSP can’t grapplefuck/GnP him, and Shields can, as Serpent so eloquently put it, tank everything GSP throws it him, it made perfect sense that fight turned out like that.
Seriously, if MMA champion fights were 10+ rounds, I could see Shields wearing GSP down and winning that fight.
GSP/Diaz just got a lot more interesting.
Diaz can and will tank GSP and walk him down. Diaz will take all that jab to the face and talk shit at how weak it is. How will GSP react? Will he fear/give too much respect to Diaz’s ground game?
Diaz can beat GSP in the standup, but GSP will just take him down at will.
And when Diaz tries to use his rubber guard and BJJ from the bottom his leg will just mysteriously slide off GSP’s back like BJ Penn’s leg did.

What is it with Diaz’s camp constantly saying that he would fight GSP if the price was right? Dude was paid at least $150k just to tool Cyborg Santos. I’m sure the UFC will pay a decent amount. Diaz is just looking for a good pay because he knows he won’t be getting that win bonus.
